This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 10th day of June, 1935, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [715], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. L. B. Cayce, Boyd and Burlynn Davis.]
Time of Reading 4:00 to 4:20 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ky. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, [715]; this we have had before.
-
In some respects conditions are somewhat improved; in others there are still those disturbing conditions that make for a strain upon not only the physical organism of the body but upon the nervous forces as they react upon same through the irritation and anxiety that is produced by the conditions. These are as shown from the congestion in the organs of the pelvis that arise from not a tubercular condition but rather congestion that prevents the normal functioning of the organs through those irritations that have been produced by those activities in the use of the douches in too great a strain upon the sensitive organisms of the organs themselves.
-
We would make applications rather in this way and manner for the upbuilding for the body:
-
First be very mindful about the diet. Let this be more body-building. Adhere rather to a strict diet, according to this as an outline:
-
Mornings - citrus fruit juices; preferably orange juice with a little lemon, and grapefruit juice with a little salt in same; with coddled egg, whole wheat browned toast, occationally a little CRISP bacon may be taken; or cereals dry with milk and fruit - these may be taken occasionally, but the greater portion should consist of the citrus fruits instead, or at least three or four days of each week we would use citrus fruit juices at the morning meal.
-
Noons - preferably a raw green vegetable salad, with whole wheat wafer, or the juices of vegetables and broiled liver or tripe.
-
Evenings - a well-balanced cooked vegetable diet, with fowl, lamb, wild game or fish; NOT hog meat at any time save the bacon and the tripe as indicated. No red meat. Beef JUICES may be taken, but not the flesh; for this is hard upon the digestive forces of the body.
-
Take at least three times each week a teaspoonful of Ventriculin WITH IRON. This should be taken preferably as the body is ready for retiring, and with warm milk afterward.
-
As to the applications for the conditions through the system, we would every other day use a light douche of tepid water with the Atomidine in same; a tablespoonful to half a gallon of the tepid water.
-
When the pain is severe across the abdomen or the back, we would apply the Epsom Salts packs; this may be done in the evenings, and when applying same use the electric pad to keep the heat about same.
-
These, as we find, if they are adhered to, will make for the better physical forces.
-
As a tonic to work with the changing of the blood supply as related to the sympathetic or vegetative nervous system, especially of the organs through the pelvis, we would prepare a compound in this way and manner:
-
To 4 ounces of distilled water add 2 ounces of strained honey. Let this come ALMOST to a boil. Then add these:
Essence (or a FUSION of) Wild Ginseng…1/2 ounce, Tincture of Stillingia…1/4 ounce, Essence of Indian Turnip…1/4 ounce, Fluid Extract of Tolu…1/2 ounce.
Shake this together. Add sufficient alcohol to keep same, which would be an ounce and a half of pure grain. Shake this together before the dose is taken, which would be a teaspoonful before each meal; and EAT THE MEALS AS HAS BEEN INDICATED!
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Is there any relief for nausea? (A) The activities of those properties given should relieve the nausea. If this continues, prepare:
Limewater…1/2 ounce, Cinnamon Water…1/2 ounce, 10% solution Iodide of Potassium…10 minims, 10% solution Bromide of Potassium…10 minims.
A teaspoonful in a third of a glass of water will relieve the nausea.
-
(Q) What causes tingling, creepy sensation on left side of back? (A) Congestion in the organs of the pelvis.
-
(Q) Are kidneys involved? (A) Only sympathetically, as yet.
-
(Q) What causes headaches and drawing of muscles in back of neck? (A) Nervousness from those pressures producing the irritation upon the organs of the system, from the stomach and the pelvic organs.
-
(Q) What are dry looking spots on lower limbs? (A) The effect of the poor circulation in this area.
-
(Q) Have been taking a quart of milk daily - so tired of it. Can I get along on less? (A) Can get along without any, if you’ll use those things that have been indicated!
Be well were this changed to this way and manner of taking the milk:
Between the breakfast and the noon meals, in the middle of the morning, we would take a SMALL glass of the MALTED milk in which there would be put a few drops (three to four) of Jamaica Ginger.
Then in the middle of the afternoon we would take a malted milk with EGG and a few drops of spirits frumenti in same; or half a teaspoonful.
- We are through with this reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 6/14/35 EC’s letter:
Dear [715]:
Just a little note. I hope you have gotten the reading alright. Of course, the results only will come from the conscientious application of the suggestions given. To be sure, faith and confidence work a great deal throughout; but the most important thing is the material application IN the correct attitude WITH faith and confidence in that applied! I want to insist that you do follow the suggestions very closely, and I hope you will let us have your report just as often as you find the chance. There’s no use in continuing to give readings unless you follow everything just exactly as it is given.
Know that I am always very glad to try and be of a service. However, know that we depend entirely upon the contributions of those we try to help, whether it’s ten cents a week, ten cents a month or ten cents a year! Know that however small, a contribution would be appreciated. Even if I could afford to give my whole time to this work without any material substance in return (which I cannot), there are others who are necessary in carrying on the work - and office expenses must be paid besides. So, anything you can do at any time to help us out, know that we would appreciate it.
Nevertheless, do not let lack of finances prevent you from seeking through this channel whenever you feel that we may be of help.
With love from all, and hoping this finds you a great deal better, I am
Your cousin, EC:GD

Dear Cousin Edgar:
Have intended writing before - but just kept putting it off. Started on the treatment as soon as I got the reading - June 15 - with the exception of the presecription - which had to be filled out of town - and that took about a week. Feel better now than I have in a long time - and have gained several pounds. Will keep the treatment up - as long as I can.
I only make $6.00 a week - and out of that - I buy my food - ice - milk - medicine which is expensive - pay for laundry - and scant clothing. So you see I don’t have anything left.
Whenever I can - I will send you something - and if I had it
- would send it now.
I know that I am getting better - and maybe if I keep on praying - I can get a better job. My mental attitude has changed - I’m not nearly so nervous - and feel that I am better in every way.
Many - many thanks for all you have done for me - and know that I will do what I can - as soon as I can.
Love to all of you - [715]
R3. 7/13/36 [715]‘s letter:

Dear Cousin Edgar:
You will wonder at my having the nerve to write you again, but [1089] has told me that you are the most understanding person in the world, and he has urged me to write you.
The only way to start is - at the beginning. I didn’t keep up the treatment last summer because I simply could not afford it, and now I’m in worse shape than ever. Along in January - I took a severe cold - had one cold right after another - running temperature, etc., until finally March 31,
- I went to see a local doctor - not knowing how I’d ever get it paid for. The colds got better, but my main trouble keeps hanging on. Now I’ve taken another cold - and violent fits of coughing. I’m desperate again. Have lost so much weight, and no strength left - just going on sheer will. I wonder if you would or could give me another reading. That takes nerve to ask you, but you are the only one who can put me on the right path again. If you can do that tho, I’d like to write a few questions - and thank you many times.
Hope you are well and happy.
Sincerely, [715]
R4. 7/16/36 EC’s letter:
Dear [715]:
Have yours of the 13th. Sorry to know that you are not feeling so good. You know will be glad to try and help, but remember this [715], you will have to do your part, that is adhere to the suggestions, for if you become negligent, the first thing you know it will be too late, and then you will be blaming the information, when the real reason is with your self. For you know if this is any thing it is of the spiritual. God is always ready to save, but we are often too negligent to accept the way he has shown us and first thing we know it is too late.
Don’t mean to be berating you. Please know that just want you to take care of yourself, for that you will have to do.
Am setting the time for Saturday afternoon the 25th. That is the first open time. Make your questions, and be sure to give the address you will be at that time, and you keep the appointment by resting if possible and thinking on the help you may be to others are you real well, and not just a good time you may have. For we have to be good for something as well as just good.
But give my love to all and let me hear in time for the appointment for it is not kept unless we hear from you.
With lots of love,
Your Cousin, Edgar Cayce
