1. EC: Yes, we have the body, those conditions, those environs about same.

2. The body should be very consistent and very persistent with the use not only of the douches but with the inhalants, and the equivalizations in the diet should be kept. Do not overcrowd but build the system up.

3. Where there are those irritations over portions of the body, use Resinal. And before this is applied, if these are bathed off - not with water but with Glyco-Thymoline in full strength, or the Atomidine in half strength (that is, half water and half Atomidine) - these will be helpful to these portions.

4. Keep these up and as we find we should find better results for the body.

5. Do that.

R1. 10/7/36 She wrote saying she had previously written but not mailed it because she was in one of her worst moods. Now she asked about details of the treatment, etc.

Dear [715];-

Glad to have yours of the 7th. Do hope you are getting hold of your self, and have fewer and fewer of those melancholy moments. When you feel them approaching go out and do something nice for some one that you have disliked very much and it will surprise you what a difference it will make in your feelings. Say a kind word to some one that has very few kind words said to them. My, what a boost it will give you, yes, just try out a little practical Christianity and you will see life in a very different light, and will help your physical feelings also. Every thing appears to be gone to pot often, but the old world still moves on, and it is HIS and he has made promises to every one of us, and is faithful to fulfill them will we do our part.

Yes, in taking the Calcidin take for say a week each day and then leave off for three four days and begin again. The rubs will be well to keep up for they give you strength, and will help the nerves also. Would keep them up and would you add Olive oil rubs once and a while would be well also. Do not take those the same time you do the alcohol. The rubs will do more good than the Codliver oil but do you want to take that, get the White’s Codliver tablets, they are the best made. When you have a cold go on the citrus fruit diet for a day or so. Take a bit of soda or Citrate of Carbonate, soda just as well in small doses, plain soda water with the Citrus fruit juices will knock a cold out, quicker than most any thing.

Sure, write me any time, [715], always glad to hear and do the best I can. Remember it is for you, and there are lots of people who care, especially will you try doing as I suggested in the above when you feel a bit blue.

R3. 2/19/37 [715]‘s letter:

Dear Cousin Edgar:

I wrote a letter to you long before Christmas - but lost my nerve and never did mail it. I write - and then decide not to trouble you. What I wanted to know - if there is anything that you know of that I can use as a deodorant? Of course the odor comes from the waste which is thrown off from the diseased organs - which you know about - it is so offensive at times - I can hardly stand it - and it is awful to have to be around people. I think I am better in some ways - have gained a few pounds since last summer. Am extremely nervous

• and think so often - that I would like to leave it all. Cousin Edgar, don’t you think if I could possibly arrange to have an operation - that that would end this trouble with the female organs?

R4. 2/23/37 EC’s letter:

Dear [715]:

Just have yours of 19th, and note what you have to say. Are you using the Atomidine as was directed, [715]? That should take away any trouble as you describe, for it is one of the finest antiseptics possible, and should destroy any trouble like that. Try taking the douches oftener with the Atomidine. Think you will find it will do a lot of do.

Please don’t hesitate to write me at anytime, because things all go wrong, or what not. You know I only want to help, and if it can be done when you need it, well it ain’t much. Try the suggestion out, and if doesn’t make a lot of difference, will try and other another check and see if you could stand an operation. Now how is that. Now don’t wait so long to let me know how you get along with this.

R5. 3/22/37 “I rec’d your letter in reply to mine, about using Atomidine oftener, and have followed your suggestion - and think it has helped.

“I am suffering so much with my back and my right side - that is, under the lower part of my ribs on that side - it frightens me so. I’m afraid it’s the T.B. working fast or else there is something terribly wrong with my liver. Will you help me this time - whenever you can - and I’ll try not ask any more favors. I don’t want to get down and be a burden on someone.

“If you can spare time for a ck. rdg. for me I’ll be glad - but if you can’t, it’s alright and I won’t have any feelings about it.

“Hope all are well and happy.”

R6. 3/27/37 She verified appointment, saying: “Since writing to you last Monday have had to stay at home for two days with a terrible cold. Really didn’t feel like going today but felt I had to.

“Would like to write more but must hurry to get this in the Post Office. Feel that I owe LIVING to you, this long, for if you hadn’t helped me three years ago feel I would have been helpless.

“Hope you are well, and thank you for helping me.”
