This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 30th day of August, 1940, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [760], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]

Time of Reading 4:00 to 4:15 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ky.

  1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:

  2. EC: Yes, we have the body - on the way home. [From Dr. Beard’s office, this being Friday - see 8/26/40 ltr. under 760-28, Par. R2.]

  3. As we find, conditions appear accentuated - because of the pain that brings about weakness and disturbances; yet there are improvements in some directions.

  4. The pressure in the left side is of the reflex nature, from the colon; and there are not stones but sediments, with a catarrhal condition, in the gall duct area.

  5. Of course, the heart’s disturbance - by the pressure, as well as the spleen’s reaction to same - is now the more to be feared.

  6. But as we find, we should find responses through the continued use of those applications suggested.

  7. We would extend the Castor Oil Packs across the abdomen now, rather than just the liver area. We would take these in series; about three days in succession, left off for three days, and so on. These should be taken on the days preceding the osteopathic treatments, you see.

  8. Follow the Packs with the Olive Oil at the end of the third day.

  9. And we would have the colonic irrigations given by the osteopath, preferably. These should not be given so often as to produce irritation. Have the water body-temperature, and to the quart of water add a teaspoonful of salt and half a teaspoonful of soda. In the last quart of water used, put a tablespoonful of Glyco-Thymoline. These should not be taken so much as to overstimulate, because of the lack of foods taken.

  10. Also we find that small sips of Olive Oil several times a day, for two or three days at a time, would be helpful; not so much as to overstimulate, with the lack of foods being taken, but a small quantity taken at the time as a lubrication and as a food value would be very well.

  11. A few drops of Glyco-Thymoline taken internally each day, for two or three days at a time, would also be helpful.

  12. Also occasionally, once or twice a week (but not on the days when the Olive Oil is taken), take two ounces of Yellow Saffron Tea. This would be made in the proportions of half a teaspoonful of the American Saffron steeped in a pint of water, just as ordinary tea; but make fresh each time, do not attempt to keep it from one time to the next.

  13. Once a week, but not on the days that the Olive Oil OR the Yellow Saffron Tea is taken, take pinches of elm stirred in water sufficient length of time before it is taken for it to react on the water. Don’t let it react too much in the system, else there will be the feeling of the formation of gas. Just a pinch between the fingers, stirred in a glass of water and let it set long enough for the reaction; but preferably put ice in this water - AFTER it has thickened somewhat, see?

  14. Doing these, - with the osteopathic manipulations, and not overtaxing nor stooping down too quickly, nor overtaxing the body, - we should find responses.

  15. Ready for questions.

  16. (Q) What diet or nourishment would be best under the present conditions? (A) Anything that will agree with the body. Sometimes solid foods, sometimes ONLY liquids. The body will be able to go by the appetite. Don’t let the body run down too much, see?

  17. We are through for the present.
