This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 15th day of December, 1934, in accordance with request made by the father - Mr. […], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mr. [2889].

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [762].

2. Now, as we find, the conditions are rather serious - and there are apparently malformations in the physical functioning and coordination of the body. Yet with the proper precautions and the administrations given in a manner which may be indicated, with the proper attitude towards meeting those necessary physical, mental and spiritual attributes by those administering and those responsible for the entrance of this soul or body into this material experience, there may be brought into the experience of all that which may be most helpful in their mental and soul development.

3. While we find that portions in the circulatory system make for the engorging of the heart’s activities, the activities of the glands that are superactive in their functioning, and the lack of the proper flow of assimilating fluids or forces in and through the organs of assimilation and distribution for the stimulation of organs’ functionings and activities, these are hindrances that have arisen from some prenatal experiences in those surrounding influences - and through conditions that surrounded the body’s development.

4. And with the application of medical forces internally little may be accomplished, in producing coordination or in making for the proper character of development.

5. But we would first add those influences or forces from the activity of that known as the Radio-Active Appliance in the simple form, to the extremities on opposite poles or sides of body. Give this treatment for an hour to two hours each day.

6. Then, following such a treatment each day give a gentle massage along the cerebrospinal system and over those centers specifically that have to do with the locomotions of the body; as in the sacral and lumbar area, in the solar plexus area, in the brachial centers, and at the base of the brain; using equal portions of Olive Oil, Tincture of Myrrh and Oil of Wintergreen, heating the Olive Oil to add the Myrrh - then as it cools, or before it is cooled, add the other, stirring all together. Use only sufficient that may be absorbed by the body.

7. Of course, make the changes that become necessary in producing the assimilating influences for the developing body; giving those properties or foods that are pre-digested, or the preparations where the vitamins and the necessary elements are included for the structural developments - that may be had in those compounds that have been administered.

8. Doing these, we will find changes for the better.

9. But these, as we find, will require that at least in every twenty-six to thirty-six days there be changes made in the various applications that will be necessary for keeping a balance, so there may be no unbalancing or overgrowth in any portions of the system. So, at the end of such a period of following these treatments, we would give further instructions.

10. This very low form of electrical force that comes through the application of the Radio-Active battery will produce in the pulsations, and in the activities of the nerve energies from the extremities, a greater activity toward normalizing and equalizing the influence through the circulatory system - whether in the lymph or the general blood supply or the nerve energies; so that we may make the proper dilations in those areas that are failing to function in their conditions in the present.

11. Do these, then, for the present. Then we would give further instructions, [762].

R1. 12/18/34 EC’s letter to [762]‘s father:

My dear Mr. […]:

The information for your little son, gotten at the time appointed, has been forwarded to you. I hope you will be able to find something hopeful, interesting and worth while by the application of the suggestions made for treatment. Of course, it seems a very impractical thing that any individual could be so gifted as to be able to tell what is the matter with your child when he has never seen him nor heard anything about the condition. You can answer it best, though, for yourself right now. It isn’t what we think about such things that counts; it is the results that people have gotten through the years, in a consistent manner, whenever they have conscientiously and consistently followed the treatments suggested. These results are what make a work of this kind worth while in the experience of anyone. Of course, unless we have the verification from you, we are not able to know just how thorough or helpful the information for your child was or may be. So, I hope you will do us the favor of writing to us. Know that if it is possible for us to be of a service, we want to do so. As you will notice from the reading, there is the indication that further information would be well through these sources after a certain period of following the first suggestions.

Mr. Edgar Cayce Association for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., Virginia Beach, Va.

Dear Sir:

Your letter of December 18th inquires how thorough or helpful the information recently furnished regarding my child was.

Frankly, I do not see that there is anything in connection with the reading that was of any benefit whatever.

The youngster had a growth in his side and abdomen and through the medium of securing some of the cells and identifying them, it has been established that he is suffering from a malignant tumor.

I am informed that we have a relatively small chance of saving him, that the size of the growth and the fact that it has spread somewhat through his system precludes the use of surgery and that the only hope lies in the extensive use of X-Ray.

Quite naturally, under these circumstances, massage would be of no use whatever and the same likewise applies to any equipment of such small power as the battery you suggest.

In all probability, I would not have volunteered this information but inasmuch as you asked for it, I consider that the whole thing was a waste of time and money.

R3. 12/29/34 EC’s letter: I have just received yours of the 26th, and thank you very much for being so courteous as to reply to my request. I’m very sorry, of course, to know that the suggestions in the reading seem entirely out of line with what you and - no doubt - the physicians feel would be best for the child. We are a research organization, though, and desire to know just the reaction that individuals have in each and every instance. Through the years we have had quite a number of instances where treatments apparently simple and seemingly all out of line with some of the best scientific minds have proven beneficial, in that the individuals responded very wonderfully. We can only say that we hope for the best for you.

We thank you for the opportunity of trying to be of service. And from our experience - as also I’m sure from the experience of the gentleman who first spoke to you about our work - it would certainly be worth your trial, no matter what others may think.

At the present time, my baby, slightly less than 3 yrs. old, is seriously ill and is given approximately a 5% chance of recovery by the physicians.
