This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 9th day of December, 1942, in accordance with request made by the husband - Mr. [261], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 10:40 to 10:55 A. M. Eastern War Time. …, New York.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [772]; this we have had before.

3. As we find, there are disturbances, - and these should be given attention before they become of such natures as to aggravate more of the functioning of the system.

4. The taxations to the body have caused a condition in the blood stream that prevents the acidity from being removed from the lymph circulation. And this, through the lack of elimination, upsets the eliminating systems.

5. We find that these may be materially aided, and may be best done by a series of hydrotherapy treatments; so that there might be set up, or established, a better coordination between superficial and deeper circulation.

6. The hydrotherapy treatments should be given at least once or twice a week, dependent upon the convenience for the body (BUT DO HAVE THESE), and should include a mild sweat and then a fume bath with witchhazel; followed by the rubdown especially with pine oils, or the combination of the pine oils and peanut oil.

7. As local applications, we would prepare an inhalant to remove the tendency for infectious forces in nasal passages and throat, and also a compound as a cough syrup - or formula.

8. For this body, we would prepare the inhalant in a large-mouth bottle in which two vents may be put extending into the space above the solution, but not touching the solution. We would use about an eight ounce bottle, you see, and the vents should be kept tightly corked or capped when not in use.

9. To 4 ounces of Grain Alcohol (at least 90% proof), add - in the order named:

Oil of Eucalyptus…20 minims, Rectified Oil of Turp…5 minims, Compound Tincture of Benzoin…25 minims, Tolu in Solution…10 minims.

When the inhalant is to be used, shake the solution well, then remove the caps and inhale the fumes through the nostrils, each side, and also through the throat.

10. As a cough syrup compound or solution, we would prepare this:

11. To 2 ounces of Syrup of Horehound, add - in the order named:

Tincture of Valerian…1/4 ounce, Syrup of Rhubarb…1/2 ounce.

Shake the solution, and take a teaspoonful whenever there is that tickling in the throat or tendency for a cough.

12. In the diet, keep away from too much starches or fats.

13. Be mindful that there are good eliminations kept, using as a laxative the vegetable compounds preferably, or those that are of the senna base (Castoria, Syrup of Figs, Elixir of Senna, Tam, etc.) These would be the better for this present condition.

14. But do have the sweats, - at least six to eight of these, - and we will find we will eliminate many of the poisons and prevent greater disturbances arising a little later; establishing better coordination in elimination and eliminating colds and coughs from the body.

15. These as we find will bring better conditions for this body.

R1. Letter 12/14/42 “[261] came up Friday and brought my reading and the medicine recommended. I didn’t start the treatments immediately because he also brought “There is a River” and I just dropped everything until I read all of it. It is a fascinating book and after I started it I couldn’t put it down. Then I started the medicine but I won’t be able to take the baths until I go to N.Y. after Xmas. I hadn’t planned to go but this town is so far from any other town and railroad, and the roads are full of ice and snow, so its just simpler to go to N.Y. …Thank you so much for my reading. There hasn’t been time for much improvement yet but I am sure there will be a great difference after I have had the treatments in N.Y.”

R3. 1/21/43 “I’ve started the steam baths and already feel like a new person. I’ve even lost some weight and of course I love being in N.Y., so of course that helps somewhat.”

R4. 6/6/55 Mr. [261]‘s letter (to HLC): “I am wondering if in your father’s rdgs. there are any that give treatments for asthma. Mrs. [772] has it quite badly and would appreciate anything that would help.”

R6. 10/19/55 Letter from [261] to HLC:

“Enclosed are the copies of readings for Asthma for your files. There was considerable delay in getting one of the components - meanwhile your letter got mislaid, which accounts for my not having acknowledged it sooner.

“I am sorry that I cannot report 100% success - but there was a little improvement for which we are very grateful. We are starting off tomorrow for Florida where we will spend the winter - perhaps the climate there will help - …many thanks for the readings…”

R7. 2/5/66 Daughter [566]‘s letter: “Daddy [261] died in Dec. of 1962 and Mother [772] died the following year in August, after also being ill for quite a while. It was a long siege for both of them and [628] and I were relieved when the end came.”

B2. 11/30/42 Husband, [261]‘s letter: “Mrs. [772] has been quite miserable this fall and I wonder if you would give her a ck. physical rdg. She has had a series of colds - one is never finished before a new one starts and she has a bad cough which does not seem to entirely clear up as it should. Also, although that is not unusual under the circumstances, she tires very easily and has very little ‘pep’. There probably is something rather fundamental wrong. Whatever it is I know that you will find it out.”
