This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 27th day of December, 1934, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [774], new Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Miss [778].
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mildred Davis and L. B. Cayce.]
Time of Reading 3:50 to 4:00 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, [774].
-
Now, as we find, while many conditions in minor ways disturb the greater abilities of the physical functionings of the body, those that make for the more specific hindrance to the better reactions are from the affectations that arise from a disturbed circulation - and the inflammation through the overtaxation of the vision. Hence we have those adverse conditions in or about the face and eyes, the head, the circulation there, and the like. These with some corrections, as we find, may be materially aided in their disturbances, and we may be able to overcome much of that which has disturbed the body in this direction.
-
First, as we find from the astrological aspects, there are afflictions in these portions of the body in the periods through which the entity is passing in the present. Then, we find there are pathological effects from pressures that have existed in the upper dorsal, and through the cervical area, to the circulations to and through those portions of the body itself. Hence an accumulation of drosses until there are those infectious forces upon the eyeball itself, as well as the natural accumulations in the lachrymal duct area, as well as in the lids and the retinae itself being hindered in its reactions by these accumulations.
-
In making for the helpful conditions, as we find, we would make specific adjustments and alleviation of pressures in the 3rd, the 2nd dorsal; in the 4th and 3rd cervical, with the pressures stimulated by the circulation that arises - by the alleviating of these pressures - through the temple of the head and at the 1st and 2nd cervical and the areas along the veins and arteries in the vagus centers. These would, by the stimulation osteopathically given, alleviate these pressures.
-
Then the application of those things that have been used as the antiseptics and washes for the eyes may be much more effective.
-
We would find also helpful the stimulations from the electrical vibrations of the violet ray, following such osteopathic adjustments and manipulations (that would be given three or four times each week). Stimulate along the temple, down each side of the throat, then down from the base of the brain to at least the 9th and 10th dorsal centers. These treatments would be with the bulb applicator applied directly to those portions of the surface of the body itself, stimulating the centers that would carry circulation both from and to affected portions specifically.
-
Increase the eliminations above the normal through the alimentary canal and respiratory system by using not so much cathartics as laxatives, of the more alkalin nature; such as would be found by alternating in this manner:
-
One evening take a tablespoonful of Milk of Magnesia with a glass of water.
-
The next evening take three-quarters of a teaspoonful of Milk of Bismuth with three to five minims of Lactated Pepsin, stirred together in a glass of water.
-
The next evening take an Alophen pill, to stimulate the eliminations.
-
Then the next day we would use an enema to alleviate the accumulations and drosses through the alimentary canal, especially through the colon area.
-
These, as we find, continued in a systematic way and manner, would make for the greater help for this body, [774], at this time.
-
As we find, these through those aids of those in sympathy with these sources of information - or such an one as Coombs, or the like - would be most helpful.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Any advice regarding diet? (A) Those things that make for body and blood and nerve building, but tending towards the alkalin reaction would be the more helpful for the body.
-
We are through with this reading.
-
GC: That is all for the present.
-
EC: We are through. [GD’s note: Apparently he would have attempted another reading if GC had presented another name.]

R1. 1/1/35 She thanked EC for the reading and said her friend, Mrs. [794], was writing for a Physical Rdg. also.
R2. 1/4/35 (Friday) [774]‘s letter to EC:
New York, N.Y.
My dear Mr. Cayce:
Your very kind letter of help, came Wednesday morning. It made me write immediately to Dr. Coombs. His answer came yesterday (Thursday) morning. I telephoned him, made an appointment and was at his office by 11:30 a.m. He followed what the letter to him suggested, correctly. I go to him tomorrow - then three times a week, hoping now to give you a good report of my progress on the road to health you pointed out for me. Saturn is very powerful for me inpatience as well as pain. The burdens he has brought into my life - to fulfill in the years to come - He will keep me here some time. Thank you very sincerely for your messages and kindness and hope,
Very truly, [774]

“Thank you very kindly for referring Miss [774] to me. She has just completed her third treatment with me. The eyes have felt better after each treatment. She takes three a week. Last night she had a bad time with them; but as they felt better when she arrived here this A.M., we concluded it was not another ulcer, but the profuse toxins being released in that area…”
R4. 1/14/35 ”…Miss [774] is continuing and seems well satisfied. Apparently right after her first treatment another ulcer of the eye started. Perhaps it was on its way before the first treatment. Anyway it cleared up quicker than the others, and without using atropine which she had previously used for pain. The pain was intense but she was able to stand it and so she does not need to get over the after effects of the drug. She feels relief after each treatment for a various length of time…”
R5. 1/25/35 [774]‘s letter to EC:
New York, N.Y.
My dear Mr. Cayce,
The time has come for me to report on my case as given by you. You will know from Dr. Coombs how VERY successful his work has been on my eyes, the prevention so far of any return of the ulcers. The other home treatment does not please me and looks as if harm would come from it. First night - Milk of Magnesia - second night Milk of Bismuth and Pepsin - third night - Alophen pill - fourth night enema - result almost complete constipation - except for the pill. I ceased this week, as my intestines seem tied up for this time - a regular movement impossible. I have talked to Dr. Coombs about - who was ready to write you - as he disapproves of this treatment for me. Thought this tieing up of the bowels might prove harmful in time for his work on my eyes.
I am not used to such drastic treatment. If suggestion of constipation came a slight enema was all necessary - NO cathartics.
Both Dr. Coombs and myself feel I must write you - as I knew I must cease this drastic treatment, bringing a condition almost unknown to me.
Will you kindly give it consideration? I am so happy over Dr. Coombs work - with all kind thoughts and wishes, for your splendid work,
Very sincerely, [774]
R6. 1/28/35 Dr. Coombs’ letter: ”…Miss [774]‘s eye condition is coming along very nicely. But the medications you advised for her intestinal tract have tied up her bowels considerably
- a condition she has had no trouble with before. I advised her to write to you about it right away, and suggested that she stop whatever was causing the trouble until she heard further from you. I presume she has written to you…”
R7. 1/31/35 EC’s letter to Miss [774] [from Washington, D.C.]:
Yours of the 25th was forwarded to me here. I’m certainly glad to know that you are on the improve respecting the condition with your eyes; but sorry you have not received benefits from the use of the Laxative suggested. I am sure you were quite right in discontinuing the use of such. I don’t know just why or how this failed to act as you and Dr. Coombs both feel it should have. But I believe you will be very wise in following the suggestions of the Doctor respecting this condition. However, from the experience we have had with similar things suggested, I don’t think this is a drastic treatment. I’m hoping, then, that in the next few weeks I will be in New York and that I may have the opportunity to talk with you and Dr. Coombs in person.
Hoping you will continue to be on the improve, and that you write me from time to time, with all good wishes, I am
Sincerely, EC:GD
R8. 3/3/35 Dr. Coombs’ letter: ”…Miss [774] has improved considerably. She is now having no more ulcers. Though she has not more money with which to take treatments her eyes are far from being well as yet. So I am treating her twice a week at my office without charge. She did not wish to continue on this basis, but I told her it would be unwise to stop her treatments now, as they had given such marked improvement…”
R9. 5/1/35 Miss [774]‘s letter verifying appointment for Ck. Physical: “My principal wish is for my eyes. The left eye does not get well. Dr. Coombs has cured the ulcers, but eye keeps inflamed and very little use of eyes, for any near work. I have gained physically very much. I am from home, in Pa., 8 mi. from Scranton, and do not return until next week. While here they tell me change of drinking water makes me constipated. Before coming I have had no trouble whatever with constipation - diet changes here, but I try to keep as nearly as possible to the one you gave me. Since your first message my improvement in health has been very great, with the one exception that the left eye doesn’t get well - both are weak. I am very grateful to you.”

Background
Background
B1. 12/10/34 “I was born 8/8/1858, 3:15 P.M. in N.Y.C.”
B2. 12/19/34 “Ulcers on my eyeballs began the beginning of last Aug.; the last two cleared a few days ago. Shortly after they began I had vertigo, losing my equilibrium entirely. The violence of this lessens but continues only at night in bed when I turn from side to side, unless I move very slowly. Before the ulcers there were abscesses in my ears - threatening continued deafness - other blood conditions troubled me. They seem to come from a cause - on and off for nearly two years - unusual for me.”
