This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 22nd day of May, 1935, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [774], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

(Body & enquiring mind, who seeks an interpretation of the strange condition which come to her as follows: A tiny light comes into my vision, vibrating RAPIDLY. It gradually forms a near circle with very brilliant lights zigzagging, gradually disappearing in the upper corner. This lasts FIFTEEN minutes. In a few minutes a headache comes, which lasts SIX hours, then ceases. Back of the lights I cannot see. It all comes suddenly, during the night or day. Sometimes there have been two such periods in one day. At first (about nine years ago) it came only months apart; now it comes very often. Please explain just what this is, the cause, the significance, and just what I should do about it.)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [774], and those experiences of the body in the vision of the lights and their effect upon the physical body.

2. In giving that as may be helpful to the individual in understanding these experiences, this should be considered from the angle of what has been builded in the mental experience of the body as to its relationship - as well as the GENERAL relationship with the universal forces that are activated upon through the astrological aspect.

3. Or it may be termed in another manner, yet considering - to be sure - that upon which the mental body has IMPRESSED itself, see?

4. And we have a pathological reaction from a psychological experience.

5. Much of the phenomena is what has been sought, or that is constantly sought by the body, without sufficient stamina in the coordination between the psychic body and the material or physical body - for its perfect reaction as phenomenon. Hence we have a pathological or a physical reaction from that which should be an experience that may be made helpful to the body; and may be, if it is builded in the physical and mental reaction as to become so.

6. Then, the elimination of this should not be sought; for the body has builded in its MENTAL self that reaction which recurs.

7. So, rather understand and comprehend same from a spiritual angle. And when such conditions begin, ENTER rather into spiritual attunement with the mental forces than attempting to vision the phenomenon as it appears.

8. And continue with the PHYSICAL applications for the building up of the physical body.

9. Thus, as we will find, we will come to see not only the light but - by the deep meditation - may enter in and become a portion OF the light, that may bring helpful HEALING attributes TO the psychological conditions in the body.

10. Hence, guard self by the INFINITE. Or when there are those reactions, enter in - using this affirmation.:

11. LET NO INFLUENCE, FATHER, BE WITHIN THIS EXPERIENCE THAT DOES NOT BESPEAK OF THY GLORY TO THY CHILDREN. LET THE LIGHT OF THY COUNTENANCE BE ONLY THAT AS MAY COME TO ME NOW. THROUGH THE PROMISES THOU HAST MADE DO I CLAIM, DO I SEEK, DO I ASK, THY PROTECTION.

R1. 5/25/35 Dr. Coombs’ letter: “Miss [774] has been away most of the month on a trip. She returned last week not feeling so well, but now she is much better again. She has reacted very well to my treatments.”

My dear Mr. Cayce;

I have only waited these few days to write to you, needing a quiet time.

I am very deeply impressed with the message you have given me, which has cleared certain experiences I have had. I confess I had only thought of these experiences with Light, from the physical standpoint not dreaming of the spiritual possibilities contained in them, also I must thank you for sending me the paper on Meditation which seems divinely given, and to me. You have made me see my lack of coordination with a spiritual angle, but have given me hope through deep meditation to accomplish; if possible for me. As you said I had builded in the mental body unfortunately bringing my possibilities down instead of up.

In earnest prayers with arms raised as in supplication I have asked the Holy Spirit of God to take me as a little child and lead me in the way of Light. I have been aware through physical conditions I had failed in my aspirations through a seeming helplessness in controlling my mind and have been adding to my prayer to be given greater strength for this erring mind.

Very recently I have known that there would be an unusual downpouring of Divine Light over the world, and as a most precious gift I received a little of this Light. This with what you gave and held out to me has put an intense earnestness into my heart, when the lights come again I am prepared to turn to the Infinite and with the beautiful affirmation you have sent to me.

I have had many strangely beautiful visions, I have seen you in vision. Grateful am I that I sent to you, someday I shall hope to send you some fulfillment of your message in opening this side of my heart to you, because you opened my EYES.

R3. 7/2/35 [774]‘s letter:

My dear Mr. Cayce,

I have been very long in answering the very uplifting and beautiful letter you wrote me - partly waiting for something to tell you of the psychological-physical condition coming to me through the vibrating lights. Your messages & affirmation are used frequently by me - it must have been a month had passed with no return until a week ago last Tuesday - when about 2 A.M. (I was awake) the first point of light came, in making or trying to - the circle kept breaking, then commencing, as if making a struggle to continue on - the headache did not come. About six o’clock evening same day, while talking to a friend it began again. I had to keep quiet, but kept my thought on the spiritual angle. It increased three times the size of the circle I had been used the points several inches up & down. No headache followed. The next Tuesday morning while visiting a sick friend, it came again, making an increased magnified circle of what had been - no headache. I have had no other since - . To me this has been extremely interesting.

I have kept the paper on Meditation near me. With your letter [of] inspiration, aspiration comes. There have been some beautiful experiences of a high nature for me. One - I was so engulfed with a tremendous love for all in and of the world, it startles me. I was obliged finally to move about, shake it off retaining only the meaning of what may lie ahead, could I gain such heights. This wonderful joy has come - with it I am physically very much stronger, the eyes finally improving - the pain not so great. I am so deeply indebted to you - feeling a time [will] come when I may speak to you and have you realize what your messages have been to me, your are the closer channel, bringing peace and harmony to many souls who must be earnestly seeking - may such blessing to others react upon yourself and those dear and near.

I have left the City for a while to be under the Trees where ancient worship was held - my mail is forwarded daily.

R4. 2/22/36 [774]‘s letter:

My dear Mr. Cayce -

I owe you my regret, that I was unable to see you when in our City - I had had a return of only a few ulcers in my eyes - but it was very painful to look at any one or be in the Light -

Christmas came and with it your thought for me in sending you Christmas greeting of this night it would bring me a greater realization of - LIFE. It (or my life) has come, through a message & affirmation from you which, through pain or otherwise has never left its message from me.

I have been quite ill since the beginning of this year & lately arterial circulation couldn’t pump up enough blood into my lungs with its then attendant pain & as great weakness. My eyes are never strong for near use.

Dr. Coombs had been a great help & most kind. Since months ago I gave up his work because of the very great relaxation after the electric treatment made me apprehensive - and troubled - I had hoped to see him again - but the doctor here has recommended I remain indoors until warmer weather comes.

My experiences have been wonderful & very beautiful in near the Spiritual is the higher Consciousness. I can never forget your deed the Light you had made me conscious of - Wish all fine benefits for you and your wonderful gift. You have kept so pure, I must always be

R5. 3/20/36 [774]‘s letter:

Dear Mr. Cayce;

Thank you very much for your kind letter and offer to help me before your coming to the City, at which time I feel I can talk to you freely. Will you accept five dollars now for your work and the rest just after the beginning of next month?

My problems are not wholly material. There is an anxiety over money which I have been compelled to sell stock naturally below its value, this is NOT a selfish one, I must give up this home by October 1st, I am sorry, but it is now too expensive, and physical troubles too expensive. I am hoping to do away with the ordinary Doctor unless absolutely necessary, I realize because of my going towards the Light I may be severely tested.

I have developed some weakness or irregularity of the heart.

How can I help to keep it stronger? (This is chiefly to appease those dear to me). How can I help myself constitutionally? I am not as strong as I should be, a possible reason for my eye weakness, I have no ulcers since last October. The eyes are weak and still bear certain inflammation. Is this curable?

Nights are often difficult through not having enough sleep. Can this be helped?

I have plenty of patience, Saturn teaches me that.

Have only had those Lights you had helped, twice; one at Christmas, and once since but without headache.

Last Saturday feeling this great weakness of body I bought a bottle of tonic through a well known druggist’s advice, it has helped me very much, but I am uncertain of effects. Is it wrong?

I have contacted higher spiritual vibrations and results which I can speak to you of but I feel too sacred to write of. If you accept I know you will give me a time to be receptive.
