This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 11th day of January, 1935, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [787], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Dr. Joseph J. Jacobs and Mrs. [601].
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mildred Davis and L. B. Cayce.]
Time of Reading 11:05 to 11:15 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Michigan. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes.
-
Now, as we find with the physical forces of this body, [787], there are disturbances that are oftentimes interpreted as being causes; when these arise from pressures that exist in the axes area of the body; the atlas in the 1st and 2nd cervical, sympathetically - the pelvis axis being the primary or first cause; making for those disorders in the extremities as well as that which has upset much in the functioning of the organs in the body.
-
These bring those effects upon the organs as to cause the disturbance in the circulation, to such an extent as to make for these accumulations that arise in portions of the system - rather in the form of the accumulatons through the lymph glands in the torso, making for those pressures in the digestive system as related to the jejunum activity, and producing that regurgitation and reactivity through the circulation between the liver and the kidneys - that arises there at times.
-
In making corrections in the physical forces of this body, as we find, we would make corrections in the lumbar and the sacral, and specifically about the coccyx itself - as well as in the feet, where the burses make for those accumulations or those activities that cause strain on the whole of the sensory as well as the sympathetic nervous system, coordinating the atlas in the upper cervical and the pelvis movements here. These will make the corrections for this body.
-
These conditions, as we find, arise or come from an injury in a manner from not only an accident but recurrent conditions that happened soon after same. Then there was the building of these through the pressures created in the body, so as to bring about these disturbing forces.
-
As to the building supply for the system through the diets, we would cling rather to that which makes for the reduction of acidity; the building of the white AND red blood supply, through a consistent activity towards nerve building foods and values.
-
Necessity demands that there be the proper amount of the activities through the digestion, that these do not cause or produce an over fermentation without sufficient of the gastric flows through the lacteal activity to produce over-acidity.
-
Hence, there should be a reduction in sugars - only taking those sugars from fruits and from the vegetables; with the fats that would be from nuts, preferably. Use rather almonds and filberts than black walnuts, English walnuts or even Brazilian nuts; though these will be helpful at times, but very small amounts of same.
-
Not meats, then, that are of the red nature; nor greases of meats. These elements should be supplied rather from the fruits, vegetables and nuts.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) How often should treatments be given, and how long kept up? (A) These should be given at least every day until there is a relief or a correction in the axis and in the atlas area; and then they may be made farther and farther apart. It should not require longer than eighteen to twenty-eight days to make the proper corrections; and then the general building of the body should bring about normalcy.
If temperature arises in the body, reduce same by the colonic irrigations - that we may remove the tendency for this plethora in the lymph accumulations.
- We are through with this reading.

R1. 1/24/35 Letter:
Joseph J. Jacobs, D.S.C. Foot Specialist 409 Scherer Building, Detroit
Dear Mr. Cayce:
Mrs. [787]‘s reading was 100% correct. She is following your instructions. To date however she shows no signs of improvement; however it is too early to expect very much.
I always felt the condition was as you had explained but was unable to put my finger on the correct point. I will have more to write on the case in 10 days or two weeks.
I am particularly anxious and interested in this case because of its short duration for healing as explained in your reading and two other medical men are interested.
R2. 1/25/35 Mrs. [601]‘s letter: “I have referred Mrs. [787] to Dr. John R. Thompson, D.O. She began tr. about 10 days ago, and while being very skeptical about how a diagnosis can be given by you being in Va. Beach and she here, she admits the diagnosis applies to her body and the description of her aches and pains. She is willing and anxious to cooperate, hoping to get relief.” Dr. John R. Thompson, Osteopathic Physician, 421 Stevens Building, Detroit, Michigan.
R3. 2/19/35 Dr. John R. Thompson’s letter reporting on cases [763] and [795]: 3rd Reading of Mrs. [787] also of this city on Jan. 11, 1935. From an Osteopathic standpoint, as well as otherwise, the findings in this case were specifically as stated in the reading, and treatments for same have been carried out, as prescribed - or as nearly so as possible. Results so far - pain in coccyx area entirely relieved, motion in lumbars obtained only just yesterday, very obstinate atlas-axis area, and correction of pelvix axis condition obtained. Difficulties in this case are a very obstinate case of constipation of long standing due probably to the conditions found plux [plus?] a so-called high-pressure social life, and tiredness from same cause. This latter difficulty is a hard one to combat, inasmuch as the patient insists on maintaining the burden of social duties, even tho they interfere with the regularity of treatments and also the natural functions of the body. Even a relaxation period for a short time after breakfast is offtimes disposed with. A terrific and persistent cold at the beginning of the treatments and during the first two weeks was also undoubtedly a factor in retarding progress. However, definite progress has been made in spite of these factors, from a standpoint of structure, pain relief, and intestinal activity, so am quite optimistic even about this case. Might add that the diet is well followed at regular home meals - but not so well at the various and many luncheons she attends.
As an additional note that may or may not be of interest to you I might add that I am a native of Kirksville Mo., knew Dr. A. T. Still whom I understand you were well acquainted with, and saw much of his workings - as well as being a very close friend of his eldest son and his family, Dr. Chas. Still, whose son, also an osteopath, I visited last summer and who is to visit me here soon.
Hoping that you are well, and that you will be able to carry on this wonderful and rather astounding work for many years to come, I remain
Sincerely yours, Dr. J. R. Thompson
R4. 2/27/35 EC’s letter:
Dr. John R. Thompson, 421 Stevens Bldg., Detroit, Mich.
Dear Dear Dr. Thompson:-
Thank you very much for your letter of the 19th, with the reports on several patients, which came while I was in Washington, D.C…where I spent several weeks. We appreciate your taking the time to give us these reports. We have been able to have such courtesy and interest from quite a number of your profession, as well as some in other lines of treatment. And it is, of course, naturally a pleasure to us to have such cooperation. Sometimes it seems, from my knowledge and experience, that those of the old school…or the Kirksville school, who knew Dr. Still, are more in sympathy with my work, or are more broad-minded. However, I have had considerable cooperation from quite a number of those in the Philadelphia school and, of course, during its tenure, those at the Southern school were very closely associated with a great deal of my work.
Yes, I was acquainted with Dr. Still, and Dr. Hildreth I know by correspondence…whom I believe is now associated with Dr. Still’s son at Macon, Mo.
The report you give for Mr. [763] is quite fine. I do hope he continues to be on the improve. Also the report on [795] is very good; there may be some questions on this case that you would like to submit for her check reading which is to be given next Tuesday morning, the 5th. If so, I hope you will acquaint Mrs. [601] with them upon receipt of this letter, so that she may include them in her list when she verifies the appointment.
Mrs. [787]‘s case, I suppose, is what we may expect from one who does burn the candle at both ends. I hope, though, that this will all work out for the best.
It may be possible for us to come to Detroit in the spring. There have been several tentative plans in that direction. If so, I certainly hope to have the opportunity to talk with you in person.
Appreciating very much your cooperation and reports, I am
Sincerely, EC:GD
