This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 16th day of January, 1935, in accordance with request made by the sister - Miss [906], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mildred Davis and L. B. Cayce.]
Time of Reading 10:45 to 11:00 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, N.Y. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, [793].
-
Now, as we find, there are specific conditions that disturb the better physical functioning of the body; and these have to do with pressures which exist in the nervous system, affecting organs of functioning that in their over and under-activity leave those conditions which produce the greater distress.
-
These, then, are the conditions as we find them with this body, [793], we are speaking of:
-
The BLOOD SUPPLY, from the organic reactions, would appear to be very good; yet it will be seen that there are times when the activities from the kidneys are indicated in the blood stream - or a uremia that is produced by pressures in the lumbar and sacral area, and also to the 11th and 12th dorsal center, but lumbar and sacral areas specifically. These pressures are of such a nature that with the circulation to the extremities there is produced a poor return or venous circulation to the body from the lower extremities. Hence an irritation is produced, a swelling, a very UNPLEASANT reaction and an easy irritation to the burses of the feet; these are as drosses, or a poor circulation.
-
Medication internally as a secondary reaction may be beneficial, but to simply apply drugs - or even to apply any ONE reaction without taking the whole condition into consideration that has produced the effects (that is, the pressures indicated in the pelvic area and on the functioning of the kidneys and the locomotories, that affect the sciatics and the return circulation to the body) - would not bring other than TEMPORARY relief.
-
The ORGANS in their functioning are very good; save the disturbance indicated with the kidneys and bladder and, necessarily, with the organs of gestation and pelvic activities through the system (that are irritated and affected by the conditions, and unless corrections are made must sooner or later become involved in the condition).
-
Then, in meeting these conditions as we find in the present:
-
We would have the corrections through the osteopathic manipulations and adjustments, especially in the 11th and 12th dorsal, throughout the lumbar area and in the sacrals of the body. In the beginning these would be given three times a week, for at least the first two weeks, and then for the next fifteen treatments about twice each week. At first in making these proper corrections we find that the reactions will be slow.
-
Hence, we would take internally in the system very small quantities of Atomidine, which will act as a purifier for the blood supply in its relationships to the gland secretions. Take one minim before the morning meal and one minim just before retiring in the evening, each day, in half a glass of water.
-
Also we would have a massage at least every other day with Olive Oil; using not a large quantity, but just what the body will absorb from the massaging; and this would preferably be separate from the osteopathic adjustments and manipulations. Massage along the areas of the sciatic centers, and especially under knees and on the feet and ankles. This would aid in establishing a better circulation.
-
In the diet keep those foods that are alkaline-reacting and that are body and blood building; not fats, but those that keep up strength and vitality and an even balance, especially in the Vitamins C and D.
-
Ready for questions.
-
We are through for the present.

The Olive Oil massage may be given by one in the home.
Extract from Nelson’s Encyclopedia:
VITAMIN C - the antiscorbutic vitamin finds its richest source in green leaves, citrus fruit juices, turnips and tomatoes. Recent investigations seem to prove that a poor diet in Vitamin C is likely to result in dental disorders.
VITAMIN D - known as antirachitic vitamin is found in fish-liver oils and the body fat of some fishes. Small amounts are present in milk and butter, and possibly fruit.)

R1. 2/14/35 Miss [906]‘s letter: “I intended to write you after I received your letter about Mrs. [793] and let you know how disappointed I was with her reading. I feel some mistake must have been made as the diagnosis was in no way correct and my question regarding her feet was not answered. Would it be possible to give her another reading as her case is very serious…
“Mrs. [793] has moved to …, Michigan and is always in her bedroom until noon.”
R2. 2/18/35 HLC’s letter to Miss [906]: “Your letter of February 14, addressed to my father in care of the Association is before me. As he will not return before the latter part of this week from Washington, D.C., a second reading for Mrs. [793] will not be possible until then. He will take the matter up with you personally at that time.
“I am very interested in your statement that the diagnosis of Mrs. [793]‘s condition was incorrect. You can well understand the reason for this when I tell you that after some twenty odd years of experience with the work I have never heard of a case whose reading did not fit the condition. We would not be worthy of our name if this case were not given thorough study from every angle to ascertain the cause of what you consider an incorrect discussion of the existing conditions. With your permission may I discuss this reading briefly with you? Believing that your open-mindedness and interest based on your mother [765]‘s case will pave the way I continue.
“From time to time we have individual cases whose readings are very short and discuss general conditions in an apparently vague manner. We have learned that this is due to the improper approach on the part of the seeker. This is not the case with Mrs. [793]. Her reading is before me. Very definite and specific conditions are mentioned. Such conditions do not exist in the bodies of any and every citizen. This is either Mrs. [793]‘s condition, presented in such a manner as to confuse your interpretation, or it is someone else. I believe we can both see that there is no obvious attempt at vagueness.
“The point of view of the readings is not that of a tracing of symptoms. Rather it is an analysis of the deeper causes and a tracing of the resulting symptoms. I will appreciate it if you will look over Mrs. [793]‘s reading with me. In the paragraph headed BLOOD SUPPLY [793-1, Par. 4] we find specific reference to pressures on the nerves in the lumbar and sacral area and in the 11th and 12th dorsal centers which cause a poison to be thrown off in the blood and a resulting poor circulation in the extremities. Definite mention is made of the irritation produced in the bursae of the feet.
These are small serous sacs under and between the tendons of the feet. In other words the reading does not describe the symptom you asked about but gives the cause of this symptom. Do you not consider this a pretty accurate answer to your question about Mrs. [793]‘s feet. If it had been asked (and time was not given because it obviously had been covered) the answer would only have been ‘already given.’
“In the following paragraph [793-1, Par. 6] reference is made to the disturbances in the kidneys, bladder and the organs of gestation and pelvic activity. The reading indicates that these are not involved organically as yet but may become affected if the condition is allowed to continue. In simple words the condition is the result of poisons being thrown off as a result of nerve pressures. Perhaps you are considering only symptoms. A description of symptoms would do Mrs. [793] very little good; what you were seeking and need is the cause and proper treatment of her condition.
“If she has pains in her feet and legs, a deadness through the lower portion of the body, if she has trouble with the kidney, bladder and pelvic organs, if she has any of these, we would certainly be safe in saying that this reading has hit her condition very accurately. But we have still a better check. Has or can a good osteopath locate disturbances in the lumbar and sacral area and in the 11th and 12th dorsal? If she has not already had such an examination why not have her try it and see what the doctor finds. A medical doctor could not locate this condition; it would require an osteopath.
“The treatment seems to be most logical and reasonable in view of the conditions described. I would appreciate it very much if you will write me further about this case. I am intensely interested in the study of the phenomena as phenomena. Honestly, it would be almost as interesting (without regard for the human element) to find a reading that had missed fire as to find one that obviously hit perfectly.
“In closing I would like to call your attention to the fact that the sacs described as affected doubtless occur in all extremities which might easily bring something very similar to an arthritic condition in the feet and limbs and also in the other extremities, the arms and hands.
“Please let me hear from you about this. I do hope that Mrs. [793] will undertake the suggested treatments at once. She evidently needs them and the results after all would count the most…”
R3. 2/25/35 EC’s letter to Miss [906]: “Your letter of sometime ago, that was answered by my son, is before me.
“We would be very glad to make an appointment for your sister’s check-up, to see just what is the proper interpretation of that given or as to whether there was some error. But it would possibly be better to have your reply to his letter written on the 18th. It may be better that we get in touch with your sister [793] direct, but as you have handled this thus far, I am writing to know your wishes in the matter. I am very sure you have given some thought to Hugh Lynn’s interpretation of the reading, and I shall be very glad to hear from you.
“Know that we want to be of help if it is at all possible. With kindest personal regards, hoping your mother [765] will continue to improve, and that we may hear from you real soon…”
R4. 4/3/35 Miss [906] referred their brother-in-law, Mr. [877], for the first of a series of readings (husband of their sister, Mrs. [920]).
R5. 4/5/35 She [906] obtained 765-2 for their mother.
R6. 4/26/35 She [906] obtained 906-1, the first of her own series of readings.
