This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 12th day of August, 1935, in accordance with request made by the cousin - Mr. [261], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. EC: (In making the location, “Near Cooperstown!”) [GD’s note: He may have mentioned this since Mr. [261] had been born in Cooperstown - see 261-5.]

2. Yes, we have the body, [798]; this we have had before.

3. As we find, there has been a great deal of change for the better in the general physical forces of the body.

4. While there may be much to be desired, the general reactions are such that - as WE find - if there will be kept up much of the same line or character of applications, conditions will continue to improve.

5. We would, then, recharge the Appliance; or take it apart, cleansing same and putting new solutions or new charges, tightening all the connections; and continue to use this in the manner as we have indicated for same.

6. While the changes in the present do not permit of this, soon there will be the abilities to use this when it is prepared; you see.

7. We find that the irritations are continuing, yet they are not so severe. And we would continue with the rubs in the same form, over those areas of the locomotory centers - upper and lower.

8. Keep near unto the same character of the diets. Ready for questions. We are through with this reading.

Did the Physical Reading presented to you describe the condition of this patient? Yes.

Were the suggestions for treatment in your opinion proper for this case? Yes.

For what period of time has the patient followed directions given in the reading under your care? Well for 3 mos, poorly past 3 mos.

What results have you observed? Tremendous mental boost Renewed desire to get well Cutaneous circulation improved

Comment: Of course I am skeptical. The description fitted two other patients equally well. Certainly no harm could be done by allowing this treatment. I’d be interested in hearing a description of her now.

CASE REPORT

Date of First Reading: Jan 23rd 1935

In your opinion did this analysis cover the condition? Yes, very well.

Give symptoms of condition described correctly. Paralysis of left side, complete in arm, leg and face from Feb 3 1934, and considerably improved up to time of reading 11 months later, as stated in reading.

Have the suggestions for treatment been followed exactly as given? Yes.

For how long? Practically continuously with short lapses.

Have improvements resulted? Condition greatly improved.

To what extent? General strength of entire body, much greater activity in arm and leg. Greater comfort in paralyzed parts from use of rubbing compound and wet cell battery. Less indigestion if diet is followed. Greatest difficulty at present is not to overdo and draw too much on reserve strength & energy. Readings have recommended rest.

Comment: Recently I talked with Dr. Wm. Hale, Utica, N.Y. about filling out the physician’s questionnaire which he took with him. Because of my improved condition his visits are much less frequent and I have not seen him to ask if he made out or sent in the paper. He greatly approved the use of the diet, battery and rubbing compound. I had stopped using the battery a short time but have resumed it with considerable thought I believe.

I am very grateful to have had Mr. Cayce’s help and suggestions -

We appreciated your letter of October 23, and the report which you inclosed with it.

We were happy to learn that you have improved and that you found the information interesting as well as helpful. It is most difficult to secure the complete cooperation of individuals even after they have secured a reading. Therefore, we are always glad to have our members follow through and report the details of points where the information checked as well as the results obtained.

With your permission I would like to use your case for a research report - without the name as is customary.

Please advise us if we may be of any further service at any time. Your doctor indicated that he would like to see another reading on your condition now. If you think this advisable include any questions that will be of help or interest to you or to him.

My dear Mr. Cayce-

I am sorry to have delayed answering your letter of January Tenth. I expected to do so every day, but after the extremely busy and executive life that I led for many years, when everything had to be done on time, I find, since my illness that there is a luxury to PROCRASTINATION which is more of a temptation than I am always able to resist. The absolute physical and mental weariness which after my long years culminated in this disabling illness was such a burden that even after two years I find I still have to push myself to accomplish even the simplest sort of thing. My mind is much more active to plan than my physical strength is able to carry out, altho I am surprised when I suddenly realize the steady increase in both physical and mental strength which becomes perceptible when I find myself worrying or thinking easily and naturally in a way very impossible for the past two years. Dr. Hale has given me exceptionally good care and advice and I have been wonderfully blessed in the loving attention of my family and nurse. As you said in your letter it is difficult, even with the best of intentions to give the fullest cooperation in these cases. But I have tried to have a regular routine, as much as is possible as we are a energetic family. I have kept quite accurately to the diet suggested by Mr. Cayce, particularly as regards fresh vegetables, salads and fruits. The battery I believe has been very worth while and at the times when I have not used it for a few days, I have missed it. Whether this was a reality or imagination I can’t say, for there is no perceptible sensation while it is in use but it seems to me that it has a very decided effect on the circulation and condition of my hand and foot. The rubbing compound I have used quite regularly and thoroughly enjoy. Once the family became accustomed to the odor of the mixture of gasoline and oils, there were fewer sniffs when it was being used and personally I rather like it. I have just begun on my third half-gallon bottle. It is surprising to think that my body has absorbed over a gallon of that compound.

I have been most interested in the way you are trying to make a definite test of Mr. Cayce’s powers and to get as much of a scientific basis for the remarkable results he has had. The diagnosis of my present condition and, in the Life Reading. The description of characteristics probably known only to myself [See 798-4], were most accurate and convincing. I should be glad to have you use my case in the record without the name, of course, if you think it would be helpful.

As for another reading, I think it would be very useful just now. As my cousin Mr. [261] has arranged for all the previous readings. I am uncertain just what there is to do.
