This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 25th day of July, 1936, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [849], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 11:45 to 11:50 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, N.Y. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [849]. It should be more careful with the diet and the things that it has been warned regarding! For these do make for upsettings of the stomach, make for a bad condition through the alimentary canal and excite those activities that are ATTEMPTING to be allayed through those ministrations that have been given in the activities of the body.
-
Though these activities as indicated should remove those causes, we find that a helpful influence would be to occasionally take an enema with oil in same, see? This for the general condition in the lower portion of the alimentary canal.
-
Use Tim as an ointment; not too much, but use that WITH the injection tube for this itching and irritation in the rectal area.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What oils should be used in the enema? (A) Russian White Oil, Usoline, Nujol or the like.
-
(Q) What exercise may I take up in the fall? (A) Wait until we have fall! These as we find should be more the outdoor. Keep outdoor exercise for the body as much as possible, and especially for anyone who is confined at desk often or long, or for long evenings.
-
(Q) Any other advice for the body at this time? (A) Do these for the present.
-
We are through with this reading.

R1. 7/29/36 [849]‘s letter to EC:
Dear Eddie:-
Finally got the reading today, as it was sent to Long Island, where we spent the week-end, and had to be forwarded. I seem to have been scolded, but slipping up on the diet was a matter of forgetfulness rather than an intended dissipation. I will get out the other readings and carefully abide by them. Have been feeling good until this week - seem to have a cold in my bones, though Dobbins says my back is much better.
Will you ask Tommy [House] to send me some T-I-M, a good supply of it, C.O.D., or, better, with a bill enclosed. The reading says, “Use Tim as an ointment; not too much, but use that WITH the injection tube for this itching and irritation in the rectal area.” Does that refer to an injection tube which comes with Tim or to the previous paragraph of the reading, which advises an occasional enema. If so it means to use it as a lubricant in taking the enema and also, in small doses, as an ointment. Can you set me straight on this matter?
Tell Tommy I have started the hair treatment and hope it will work. He specified grain alcohol, which is very expensive. The druggist said denatured alcohol would do as well, and we used it. What do you think?
I’ll set myself to follow the readings as a monk, and we won’t check again until fall. Then I hope to be fit as a fiddle and ready for the book.
R2. 7/30/36 EC’s letter to [849]:
Dear [849]-
Will give Thomas the order for TIM, sure you will have it soon; it is a rectal ointment - the manner of application is either external or internal with the tube that is on the ointment container, and that is what is suggested for you. Think you will find it pretty good, has nothing to do with the enema, take those when needed. Hope you will soon be feeling all O.K., must have taken cold on the Beach - the water there is too cold for bathing, anyway is for me, tried it a few times.
Haven’t been feeling so good myself lately, but hope will make it O.K. without caving in.
A rainy cold day here, like fall, most too cool to be pleasant with house shut up.
All send love and best wishes to you and [1102].
Ever the same, Eddie
R3. 8/27/36 [849]‘s letter to EC:
Dear Eddie:
My family seems determined to shock me into an early grave, just as I was recovering from the suddenness of my mother’s illness and my sister’s elopement, my brother got himself into an automobile accident. He was critical for awhile. They operated for internal injuries - a ruptured intestine - we spent a week hovering at the bedside, but he is on the mend now, and I am on the wane, just getting the effect of the shock and the vigil. Seem to have lost all I gained - knee is swollen, back sore and energy gone. Dobbins has been working like a trojan on me and I have been using the vinegar and salt massage, sleeping half the day and praying. We are going to Washington in a few days for an assignment. Will be there a little while and when we return will be at … street, the same street but farther west, in apartment 14b instead of 4b. That combination, or rather the retention of certain numbers in our change, may cause a mixup. Anyhow, the old 59 number is no longer good.
Hope you’ve been getting on well. May send for a check reading from Washington unless I take a turn for the better. Our address there is … Street, Northwest, Tel. …, in case any of you are in town.
Love to all - and let us know when the wedding is to come off, and where.
