This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the home of David E. Kahn, 20 Woods Lane, Scarsdale, N.Y., this 31st day of October, 1937, in accordance with request made by the self - [849], active member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here, [849]; this we have had before.

2. As we find, acute conditions have arisen in the circulatory forces of the body, producing a neuritic condition; produced by congestion and the pressure of same upon the nerve forces between the sympathetic and cerebrospinal systems.

3. Thus, from the lymph, pockets of congestion have formed in specific portions where the acute pains exist; knee and the small of the back, or from the 2nd lumbar to the 9th and 8th dorsal area.

4. As we find, while the sodium salicylate is helpful to allay, this does not act upon that portion of the system so affected.

5. We would apply, then, these:

First we would paint the area with a combination that will be penetrating, as an opiate; that is, combine one ounce of Laudanum and a quarter ounce of Aconite - using this to paint the body over the areas affected. Then apply over the same area a saturated hot solution of Epsom Salts in very thick towels or pads. As this cools repeat the application; not repainting under two to three hours with the Laudanum and Aconite. Use at least five to six thicknesses of heavy crash toweling for the packs.

7. He should find ease in at least a few hours after beginning these applications.

8. Then the condition may return, but after a period of three to four hours apply the whole solution again.

9. On the morrow, then, we would have another deep manipulation given, osteopathically; and then apply the solutions again.

10. In ten hours he should be free of the pain, if the eliminations are set up - preferably this done with a vegetable combination as an eliminant.

11. That is, in the morning AFTER the manipulations, we would begin with the eliminant, for these should work together. As an eliminant we would use a combination of Castoria and Syrup of Figs. Take a teaspoonful at a dose, half a teaspoonful of each, every hour until there is a THOROUGH evacuation. When there is felt the reaction through the colon, take an enema to start the elimination. These properties, with the enemas, will assist the system in eliminating the condition.

12. Do this and we will find relief for this body, [849].

13. The acute condition arises from cold and incoordination, as has been indicated, between the sympathetic and cerebrospinal nerve forces as related to eliminations; thus making the source of infection in affected areas.

14. Ready for questions.

15. (Q) What should the body take to produce sleep? (A) Take that which has been given here to free the body from pain. If free from pain it will sleep. The absorption of those properties indicated will produce sleep. You see, the absorbing of those properties painted over the areas will be more effective than taking something internally to produce sleep. For sleep, as a sense, acts from the nervous system.

16. (Q) Should the narcotics or those things he has been taking be continued or discontinued? (A) As the conditions adjust themselves, leave these off. If it is felt that these are necessary, take them. As indicated, though, with the application of the Laudanum and Aconite, and the heat, the effect is as a narcotic but the system absorbs same rather than having it pass through the system in assimilation.

17. (Q) What should the diet be during this treatment? (A) Liquids and semi-liquids for the next twenty-four to forty-eight hours.

18. (Q) Why was there no relief this week from the rubs given? (A) As indicated, these acute conditions are the effect of infectious forces. The rubs alone would not make for that which would start the coordination of the lymph in elimination.

Do this and we will bring the better condition for the body.
