This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 22nd day of December, 1941, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [849], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Hugh Lynn Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 3:50 to 4:10 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Clearwater, Fla.
-
HLC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time; also suggestions for help and relief of this body, answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [849].
-
As we find, in general there are continued improvements; slow, yet definite.
-
There are some tendencies for some of the diet to upset at times, but in the main the body continues on the improve.
-
We would continue with these:
-
Keep, daily, the appliance carrying the Gold. Now we would make the cooper plate attachment to the burse of the foot that would be called the ball of the foot, or about two fingers of the area between the joining of the big toe and the second from same - where there is the bending back. Continue the attachment of the Gold Solution plate over the umbilical and lacteal duct center, as has been indicated.
-
We would continue daily with the oil rubs, especially the peanut oil on the lower limbs and the back, especially across the small of the back and the hips, and close to the end of the spine. When practical, also give this when practical for the exercise in the water, after such exercise.
-
The exercises in the exerciser may be extended more, in those periods when it is impractical to take them out of doors. These would depend upon how much exercise is taken in the open and in the weather.
-
Continue with the use of the mechanical adjustments, especially within the area of the lumbar axis and the ileac plexus; extended, to be sure, along the sciatic nerve and sciatic plexus, or flexes; under the knee, around the knee, the feet and ankles; that there be created better circulation.
-
Take just sufficient properties internally to keep good eliminations.
-
DO keep up ALL foods that carry B-1 especially, or the exercise or energy vitamin. These are found in the breads, of course, the re-inforced cereals, all yellow food, and especially sunshine - which may be just as valuable as a means or manner of obtaining same, when practical. Even eat IN the sunshine when practical, - all foods.
-
These do, and we should find continued improvements.
-
As to sand packs, - the variety of the sand here is not as beneficial. So, if there is the activity of a little sand rub in the water (not to irritate the skin), it would be well - or better than the sand packs, in this area; especially around the knee, ankles AND the sciatic center and the ileum plexus. This would be beneficial.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Are the exercises being attempted in the water the right ones? (A) These should be. Any character of exercise in the water is good. When in the water, use as much practical the exercise of kicking backward, - even if the body rests or lies on the land or on a float or the like. This character is the better exercise for this part of the body; bringing forward and pushing back, see, - any movement or wiggle of the lower limbs, especially - of course - through the area about the axis centers.
-
(Q) Is the massage being given properly? (A) Very good.
-
(Q) Is the diet alright? (A) As indicated, hold closer to the B-1 products and vitamins. Don’t take them separate. For these are not as well assimilated and DO cause disturbances in other directions at times.
-
(Q) What’s the best daily routine to follow for swimming and exercising? (A) This should be worked out by self, so as to get daily, as much as possible of those that have been indicated that should be a part of the body-activity.
-
(Q) Should the sand packs be taken the same day as the sand rubs? (A) As indicated, these are not so beneficial - because of the character or the radial activity at this present season.
Take rather the sand rubs in the water occasionally - say three times a week.
-
(Q) Is there any advice for the entity, the masseuse, or the entity’s wife, as to the manner of doing the various parts of the routine? (A) Those as indicated here should be the activities of each. As given for the masseuse, there should be the general as well as the specific treatment, with the oils especially over the areas indicated.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 12/22/41 Letter:
Much improvement has shown itself in the last week. The stuff is breaking up at great rate in my feet. They are quite limber, and yesterday, when I went into the water after a week’s lapse due to bad weather, they hurt like the dickens, on account of the increased circulation. Remember how your hands would hurt as a boy when you got them real cold and then put them under the faucet to get them warm? They felt just like that.
The water was 65 degrees. Am I not pretty tough to get in at such a temperature? We are having the worst of our “winter” here now. The sun was at its farthest point south yesterday, and I went in…so I am sure the rest of the winter will not balk me. [He referred Mrs. [2641] for rdgs.]
R2. 2/7/42 Mrs. Townsend thinks we are now ready for another reading, because she wants to ask about a pulley for stretching my left leg and the possibility of taking some extra cobra venom and breaking up some bad spots. She won’t take any of these steps (and I won’t let her) with out the reading’s sanction. I’m doing awfully well, really.
My right foot is throwing off poisons so rapidly that the skin is in bad shape…we have tried D.D.D., borofax, nupercanal, resinol, and warm Epsom Salts packs…we’d like to know which one would be best to stick with…
Questions, then, would be:
- Should a pulley be used to help stretch the left leg now? If so, what sort?
(If he says yes ask about the amount of tension and periods of time for doing it.)
- Would it be advisable for the masseuse to break the formations more rapidly at certain points?
If he says yes:
A. What specific places? B. Could more cobra venom be taken to help the body bear the pain?
What is the best thing to use on the inflamed skin of the right foot?
Is the inhalant sitting at the bedside table, with prescription around the bottle, properly filled? (If not, what is wrong)
Is the preparation INNERCLEAN good for this body as a purgative?
Any other advice at this time?
I should explain that I have been unable to get any senna pods here; seems they have been coming from China. So the local naturopath, a friend of Mrs. T’s, recommended INNERCLEAN, an herb preparation including psyllium seed, senna, Irish moss, etc…all the local drugstores are out of tolu in solution, which comes from South America, so the presciption was filled in St. Petersburg. It is not the right color and although its cuts through well enough, it has something wrong in its odor.
P.S. I’ve cut aspirin to every 6-8 hours and cobra venom to once in eight days.
