Date: 5/3/1935 Sex: F Age: 40 ReadingID: 5128
This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 3rd day of May, 1935, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [864], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 4:05 to 4:10 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Detroit, Mich. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, [864].
-
There are many changes that have come about in the general physical and mental forces of the body since last we had same here. Most all of these, even in the physical, are much improved from that as we have had before.
-
As we find, there should be now PERIODS of a general manipulation OSTEOPATHICALLY given; general manipulation osteopathically given; three treatments each week for two weeks, then skip two weeks, then have two each week for the next two weeks, then one each week for the next two weeks. This should make for an alteration in the coordinations throughout the system, that will make for very much bettered conditions in the system. For, while there are the general activities that make for the system’s response in the general flow of circulatory forces and nervous forces and the reactory forces in the system, we would - through the osteopathic adjustments - stimulate especially the 9th and 10th and 11th dorsal centers, the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th cervical centers, see? To be sure, at least one of these treatments each week should be a GENERAL treatment, and then these specific centers.
-
Do this, as we find, and we would bring the near normal conditions for this body of [864]. Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Any advice about the ears? (A) This general manipulation, as indicated, should correct the circulatory forces to the superficial activity of all portions of the body, and correct or clear up these conditions.
-
(Q) Am I in condition to bear another child? (A) If so desired.
-
We are through with this reading.

Dear Mr. Cayce -
I am afraid that I am going to be guilty of the act of “killing two birds with one stone” in this letter. Not that that is such a misdemeanor but I should have acknowledged a letter of invitation from you about a week ago. However, I have been rather busy, and this is about my first chance to take my time in writing a letter.
I wish first to express my appreciation of the invitation to your Association Meeting there in Virginia Beach this coming month. I’m sure that I would have both an enjoyable time and an instructive time, especially as it would be my first time, but circumstances make it impossible for me to leave the office here before September. I am officing this year with a very elderly Osteopathic physician and he has made plans on being out of the office most of the summer on the strength of my being here to keep the office open and running. So, not only will I miss your meeting but will also miss, the first time, the post-graduate course given at Kirksville since I graduated. And, as that is my home you can see that I’m in store to miss a lot of things which I would much rather go to and enjoy.
I also want to say that the new patient directed to me, Mrs. [864], of this city, is receiving and will receive the treatments suggested or outlined in the letter of instructions which she gave me. Concerning her case I might say that she is a rather unusual, or even peculiar party. I first had to convince her that her reading could be entirely correct and complete even tho it was fairly brief. She described it as “practically nothing for her money” until I explained it to her as being entirely adequate to one who understood the terms given in it, and that anything else would have been superfluous or repetition. Her chief complaint of poor hearing will probably be slower in responding, but her superficial nervous troubles are clearing up rapidly already - much to her satisfaction - which should make the case easier to handle. At best, however, she is quite a psychological problem, with her varying interests in reincarnation, dual-personalities, etc.
I will have to close now, as I have patients waiting, but wish again to express my regrets as not being able to visit Virginia Beach and attend your meting. I’m sure that I would have enjoyed it immensely.
Sincerely
[signed] Dr. J. R. Thompson

Dear Mr. Cayce -
Upon returning from a short and enforced vacation - illness in the family - I find that I am the recipient of the report of the Fourth Annual Congress, and am quite pleased to be same. Tho unable to do so, I would have greatly enjoyed taking a vacation this year and gone to Virginia Beach for same, wherein I could have benefited by both the resort facilities and also attended the Congress. But, as will also be the case for the American Osteopathic Convention for me, reports of same will have to be my manner of attendance this year, so want to get all the material available thru that channel - so, am enclosing the twenty-five cents for the readings on “Juvenile Delinquency”, “Spiritual Healing”, and “Carrying Forward the Work of the Association”, [5747-2, 281-24, 254-87], as announced in the report I received.
Have had a very interesting case which was sent to me for treatment thru you - Mrs. [864], of this city. the patients chief complaint was partial deafness, but the treatment suggestions as sent by you indicated general, as well as specific work - all of which the patient couldn’t understand in the least, and was quite dubious of the whole affair. However, what I could readily see that she could not was that there was a general nervous involvement - so, she was prevailed upon to give it a fair test. And, altho she didn’t quite carry out the treatments as per schedule, the results were more than satisfactory. Not only has she had great improvement in the hearing, but also so much so in the nervous system that she can readily see it herself, as well as receiving comment on it from all who are around her. She now attends picture-shows and hears perfectly wherein formerly a companion had to repeat all the spoken parts to her. However, with this she adds an interesting fact - that if there is a “double feature” show on she doesn’t hear the second as well as the first, especially if the first has been a particularly exciting film - all of which only confirms the “nervousness” basis of the poor hearing. She was so pleased when in here last that she suggested I make a specialty of treating nervous system cases - I could have explained about Osteopathy being more of that than she knew, but instead just asked her if she would have ever considered Osteopathy for her trouble if she hadn’t received your report - her answer of “No” recalled to her where she really started on the road to better health.
Hoping you’re in the best of health, I am
Sincerely,
[signed] Dr. J. R. Thompson
