This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 11th day of October, 1926, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [900].

Time of Reading 4:20 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.

1. [900]: You will have before you the mind and body of [900], present in this room. In connection with this body, you will have the manuscript that he is at the present time writing, all important to him, as the chief work of his life. As given in this morning’s reading [900-274], in the next phase of Clem’s subconsciousness, we will present his sensuous physical, or physical vision of the incarnating spirit forces into the flesh form, and thence their disintegration and the conservation in the mind that which may become incarnated into the flesh for further development. In the process of this reincarnation, certain physical identities are set up, and in this manner can this phase be made most interesting - the chocolate coating to the truth we are presenting. You will, then, give, beginning with the first incarnation of [900] in the Egyptian period, a certain cross section of that period which will bring in adventure story, which will be very interesting reading and prove exciting reading to the reader.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind, [900] and the information as has been given the body concerning those truths, tenets and lessons as may be gained through the various experiences in man and in man’s forces, as are preserved in the various incarnations in the earth’s plane.

3. As relating to the entity’s experience in the earth’s plane during the Egyptian period - which may be considered as one of the most momentous occasions or periods in the world’s history, for to give the surroundings and the experiences of the entity is to give much of the history of the period, the day, the thought, and how same was attempted or given in that period, for we find the entity then as the scribe, in the position as would be termed to-day as the teacher, or the interpreter to the peoples of the laws as applying in the physical sense to the peoples. The tenets of the priests and Christian peoples in the sense to the same peoples. In this capacity, then, we find the entity, Aarat, coming as the interpreter for the king [341], and for the priest [294] (or chosen priest), by the tenets as were given, and as becoming acceptable to the peoples, and from same which was the first of records from which all of the thought and study of the worlds became - or to term in a different sense, the entity occupied the position of a Jefferson to the Declaration of Independence to the peoples in the religion and in the civil sense, see? Then, in presenting that as the basis for such, these truths, these interpretations, may be given in the sense as these are pointed out to become a portion of the vision, or the incarnation as Clem sees same, see?

4. The story, then, would begin as in this:

5. We find the scribe [900] among those of the Egyptians that were of the old rule, conquered by the peoples as came in from the hill country and set up the rule. When the young king came into power, Araaraart [341], the king set about to gather those of the learned to prepare those tenets for those peoples, to make same secure, and to give the proper rule and order. The priest [294] being chosen, the scribe and the councillors being chosen, the scribe set about to give those interpretations in the combination as Jefferson gave that of liberty to peoples, the scribe gives same to the peoples, the rules, in the separation of those truths as pertaining to man’s relation with the higher creative energy and forces, and those first tenets as were presented were of no time, no space, all force one force, man the representative of the higher creative energy in the earth, and through same gave to the peoples, and that subdued that conception of that creative force, see? This, then, makes, as it were, the basis for the first of Clem’s existence, and sees same as self passing through the experience, and thus giving the position in the plane in the present period, see?

6. (Q) What was the date, as man knows time, of this battle - (A) Ten thousand and fifty-six [10,506?] years before the Prince of Peace came. The records of much of the scribe may yet be found - many of the tenets were the lessons that the five nations, that gathered later, studied. Many are the temples builded later in the plains that are yet to be uncovered, near the Sphinx, as seen at present, which represents a portion of contemporary forces and contemporaries during the period, see?

7. (Q) Was the scribe part of the hill forces, or under the rule of the old Egyptians? (A) Under the rule of the old Egyptians, of the conquered peoples, but raised to the high authority, for the abilities in the entity. Hence ever in the capacity of one being oppressed, yet equal and above the others, see?

8. (Q) Was there any one experience in this life that would prove romantic, or entertaining, that would serve as a syrup or sweetening? (A) That of the raising of the entity from that of the servant, or the common scribe or learned man, to the position of the councillor, or the interpreter of councillors, to the reigning powers or ruling powers. This being, as in common parlance, the greater condition as comes to the entity - for at the age of twenty-nine (29), the world to the entity then was conquered by the hills peoples. At thirty-two (32) the king [341], then young in years, brought this one as the scribe to interpret and give to the peoples those lessons as the priest and as the councillors and kings gave, and set about to make laws, both civil and religious, see? This raising to the exalted power being the high point in the life of the entity in that experience, and this may be dwelt upon and made into a beautiful story all in itself, see?

9. (Q) In the next [as Elam - Neh. 10:14], the building of the Holy City and defending of same. (A) In this we find the entity then gave self in the defense of the tenets of the peoples, or abiding by the laws that had been given to the chosen people, and in that only of the faithful observer of that as then understood is the high point in that experience.

That in the NEXT experience [as Achilles in Troy] being that of many of the disconcerting conditions mentally, and only the physical valor and the physical experience being the high points, as the warrior, see? yet all of these combined bring to this entity, as made an entity through the mind of the entity here, see? that as is necessary for the entity to bring or prove to self, as it were, that of all force [being] one force, and the directing of the energy that is exercised making or manifesting certain phases of that existence as is attempted to be exemplified by man’s experience in the earth’s plane, see?

10. (Q) Yet that physical experience as the soldier, Achilles, may be made very exciting - (A) Made very exciting - just as each phase of that experience of the entity may be made very exciting, as the description may be given in how the royal pomp of the king in Egypt seeks the lowly, humble, yet the circumscribed individual, in the huts of those subdued peoples, and raised same to pomp, power and glory - yet the scribe ever remaining that one ready to serve, giving counsel where counsel needed, putting in words so as to express that as is to be given from higher powers, that is physical to the expression of the greater powers as may be manifest in man.

Again as is seen in that in the defender at the gate in the Holy City, may be pictured that of the advance of Sanballat, and those that would bring destruction, and as the men labored with trowel and mortar in one hand and with the sword in the other. [See Bible, Book of Nehemiah.]

In that of Achilles, that of the glory of pomp, power - yet never oppression ever is seen, even in Achilles’ forces.

This paper can bring little to you that you do not already understand, yet we hope to clear up for you many of the relationships that have existed in the past from which come urges that both hinder and help in the work which you have set out for yourself. It will not be out of place to set forth here a few quotations from readings which will center our thought in the correct channels for considering the following.

[Quote from your personal reading 900-428, 3/8/29]: “Be not led astray in any manner, not allowing self to be drawn from these ways as may be pointed out, and even as has been given will come the ability - in the application of the knowledge gained - the understanding being sought. Be not dictatorial, nor lording in thine own activity. Rather humble in spirit, that the Micah of old may say oft in thine hearing, this day this is fulfilled in thine hearing, that I will establish my name in the place appointed, and I will feed mine peoples and they shall not be scattered abroad; for even as the knowledge comes let it be disseminated among those who seek to know the Lamb that taketh away the sins of mine people, and their transgressions shall be remembered no more, and sickness and sorrow and tears shall be wiped away - for He who came in the flesh will establish His name there. Through thine efforts then my son, be faithful. I have spoken, I, Jeremiah, the servant of the King.” [900-428]

[Quote from your personal reading 900-?]: “The fear, as is seen, may only come from within, through that same manner of means as is given in the first portion of the vision, for, as has been given, the entity has been chosen the vessel for the message to many peoples, that many peoples of many climes, of many religions, may be united in one, under the banner of the Redeemer who came, and who will, as has been shown this entity, recognize even this entity as with the Son.” [900-?]

[Selection from EC rdg. 254-50 to Ass’n Board of Governors 7/14/29]: “In these things, then, let each be mindful of that place, that niche, that purport each is to fill, and fill that with all of the power, might, strength, that lies within that body! So cooperate with other individuals, working in their individual capacities, that the whole purport may be as one, even as the Father and I are one in you. I speak not of myself, but that ye may know the truth, even as delivered in the day when I walked among men and became known as the Son of Man, and the savior of a beknighted race. Here, my brethren, ye are come again to fulfill, in this place, a glorious principle, a glorious article of work among the sons of man. Let each, then, in that power that may be gained in that association of the forces as manifest through each, become one in purpose.” [254-50]

It seems that in Egypt some ten thousand years before Christ many of those who are connected today in the Association of National Investigators Inc., gathered and after many trials builded a great work similar in many respects to that being attempted now. At that time you held a very responsible and important, as well as interesting position. (Note Egyptian history) Many of the urges, abilities and connections of the present are directly a result of your development in that period. An understanding of this period will be invaluable to each and every one working in this organization. Your peculiar connection and position at that time and the influence on the present must be understood not only by yourself but by all who are trying to work together in this. Let us consider this first.

As Aarat, a native scribe and teacher, you became an important influence in developing many of the stable laws, both civil and spiritual. You were chosen by the young king [341] as one to represent the native element in building up the nation. The old king [165] probably suggested this appointment to this important place because he recognized the ability of the entity and wished to pit him against his young son. You acted then in the capacity of one who worked with both the councilors and the king. Always there was the feeling of suppression since you were a native and the ruler was an outsider but you worked and cooperated with each and everyone in building up your country and in giving much to the peoples in understanding the moral, civil and spiritual truths. Today for the development you made in that period and in others you have been chosen as the one to head up this WORK and have the ability to give to mankind a better understanding of their relation to their Creator. You worked then under great difficulties and gained. This time the power to retard or advance the work lies in your hands. To you the “forces” have, as you know intrusted a great work. From this very period alone there will naturally come much criticism that you should have been raised to power as it were. Gradually as understanding comes to each individual working in this they will understand.

We shall now take up various individuals with whom you are connected in this work and try to give you some knowledge of their connection with you at various times and how the urges from these connections affect you.

[195] - Egypt

At this period Arsrha [195] an important builder and designer of the time, worked as an assistant to you, acting as mathematician. He worked out through mathematics your findings in astrology and put these findings into practical use through geometric arrangements of the many buildings and monuments which he constructed. (The Egyptians are famous for building according to geometric functions which have some relation to the foretelling of future events.) You will naturally work well with him and as he was directly related to the ruling family there arises a connection through him which might be well used at this time. [195] would not find it difficult to work with either [165] or [953]. This was the only appearance in which you were associated and the urge from it is good. There would arise this time a bit of reluctance in his trusting you at first, since he was an outsider and you were a native. As then however he soon recognizes your abilities and relies on them. (Such a relationship between you has developed to some extent.)

[953] - Egypt

Asriaio [953] was at this period one of the highest councilors to the rulers and was especially influential with the young ruler. Your relation to him was antagonistic cooperation. He was the most powerful influence back of the young ruler as an outsider. You were the most important native influence. Both of you worked, however for what you considered the best interest of the country. There were probably at this period many heated discussions, yet there was a final period of cooperation.

In working with [953] you will find him easiest to approach at first through [165] or [341]. He can undoubtedly be of great assistance when once he becomes an active force in the WORK.

An interesting question arises in this connection. Your son [142] may have been at this period [953]‘s son. This is not positive but would bring out some interesting connections if true.

Palestine

In this period you and [953] worked together during the rebuilding of the walls of the Holy City. Both of you labored on the south gate and were closely connected. You probably rubbed each other the wrong way at times, the urge from Egypt, but on the whole a good period for cooperation. During this time [953] was one of those sent to parley with the attacking forces. [165] was one of these. This furnishes another reason for making use of the ability of [165] and [953] being able to work together this time.

[257] - Egypt

During this period, Arsha [257] was one who favored the banished priest [294]. He was very violent in his support of the priest and as you remained faithful to the ruler there was probably a certain amount of antagonism developed. [257] then represented to you a force which was destroying the progress you were working for. It was rather a disagreement of principles than personal. You find at present the same condition. You disagree with his method of approaching the work. Be careful of this urge. Understand the development of the man and the trend which his development has taken. A sure way to approach him is through [294]. He can do more with him than anyone else.

Palestine

During this period [257] was one of those who returned with Ezekiel as his scribe. You and [257] worked together on the walls though the relationship may not have been very close. This relation should temper and assist in the better understanding at this time. This opens a way of approach to a better understanding with [257] through a religious sense. He will respect those tenets which you hold sacred in a religious manner and will respond to careful stimulation of the religious interest in himself. (This is an angle which I believe you have never tried.)

[137] - [[900]‘s brother] - Palestine

In this period [137] was an armor bearer to Ezekiel and was undoubtedly in connection with you. A natural sense of cooperation as members of the same race draws you together this time. There enters here an interesting relation between [257] and your brother [137]. Their association at this period naturally fits [137] to approach [257] in the spiritual manner even better than yourself.

[341] - Egypt During this period you acted as the scribe, learned advisor and interpreter to the young king, [341]. Though there was a rather competitive air about the attempts of you and [341] to give and explain to the people the truths and teachings as were being given out there was ever present the attitude that all was being done for the advancement of the people and the nation. You sided with the king [341] against the priest [294].

The relationship at this time would be that there would exist in the inner consciousness of each a respect for the abilities of the other tinged ever so faintly now and then with a touch of competition. [341] would naturally respect and admire your abilities along theosophical lines. You naturally would respect his abilities to cooperate with all the various factions in the work. By careful cooperation you both may gain much.

There arises at times a peculiar standoffish air between you. It is hard to break now formalities. This is partially due to the innate feeling that one was the invader, the other the native at this period in Egypt. (Please note the reverse condition at this time.)

[2694] - Egypt

Aarbio [2694] at this period acted as a go-between for the king [341] and the priest [294]. [2694] at that time however, seems to have gained favor with the king [341] through you. While he lost at that time through misapplication of his position there will be now a certain natural interest in assisting smooth cooperation and he can be easily approached by you. Don’t go too deeply into discussions with him but always border gradually on the real values of life in talking with him. He will work nicely in handling other men on business matters especially.

Troy

In this period as Sanson [2694] guided the ship that brought you, Achilles [900] to Troy. He failed by misusing the power you gave him. This time here is an urge to feel that others do not trust any work which he is doing. You can do a great deal for him by showing him that you trust him and have confidence in his ability. Never indicate that you doubt him or what he is doing. This relation was very close and you can be of great assistance to this man as he naturally looks up to you. Don’t ignore him for you would be wasting an opportunity to be of help to a fellow man who needs your help.

[294] - Egypt

In this period Ra Ta [294] was raised to the position of high priest of the land and until the division arose he gave much to the peoples through spiritual teachings. You sided with the king [341] against the priest [294] and there naturally arises from this a certain sense of disagreement from the point of principle rather than personal feelings. You and [294] probably worked together before and after the division.

From this then comes the natural respect of each for the other’s ability to give an understanding of spiritual truths to the people intermingled at times with conflicting views as to the principle of some condition.

Troy

In the Trojan period [294] was one of the guards of the gates of Troy. He was a student of chemistry by nature and one with considerable temper. There would naturally arise from this appearance a certain amount of antagonism since you were one of the leaders of the attacking forces.

In the present this would take the form of signs of unreasonable temper in you both at times. Be careful of this and understand from whence it comes. Don’t try to play Achilles [900] with him for you will find him in moods just as stubborn as the Trojans who held out for seven long years.

[288] - Egypt

The relation and the connection with this entity at this time was very distant. Iso [288] represented to you the result of the breaking of the law which you upheld, as she was the daughter of the priest [294] and [538]. Be careful of the idea which would tend to arise that she causes a great deal of trouble. This at times may be so but should be understood by you in connection with the urges of various individuals connected with the work. From this appearance she naturally represents the cause of trouble to many of those who upheld the king [341] as well as those who upheld the priest [294]. She must be given a fair chance as she has a hard position.

[136] - [[900]‘s present wife] - Egypt

In this period Isiso [136] was a favorite to the king [341] and one who assisted in the temple service with music. In your later days she was very close to you and helped you a great deal. In the present this would bring a natural love for the entity and from this you can understand the great care the entity always tries to take of you. There arises a desire to ever protect and help especially the physical body. An interesting relation arises between [341] and [136]. This connection would tend to draw the two together, each liking and understanding the other.

Palestine

At this time [136] was only in the earth’s plane a short time as she died as a child. You possibly came in touch with her for a short period. This appearance would influence the attraction between you as peoples of the same race rather than produce any definite urge.

Troy

At this time you were connected in a peculiar way and manner. As Helen of Troy, [136], represented to you the cause of all the trouble and you probably disliked her in a distant way. You must have admired her beauty as did everyone at that time. She likewise must have admired your ability and been naturally drawn to you at this period.

The position of each on opposite sides furnishes this time the friendly banter in which you indulge. There might be some danger arising through jealousy, but [136] is quite capable of taking care of any situation.

[538] - Egypt

At this time Isris (Mrs. [538]) probably had a very pleasant relation with you in the temple service. After the division she represented to you one who had broken the law and thereby destroyed the principle of it for herself. There was no personal enmity, but rather the attitude of “That’s too bad, but we’ll have to do the best we can”.

This time this comes over in a general attempt to be more of a personal friend yet disregarding the existence of the entity at times with something of the air of - you have brought it on yourself. Try to understand the terrible time the entity is having trying to make up for that which she caused then and you will be able to help her through helping her to understand - Why?

[302] - Egypt

At this time Miss [302] was the ruler of the country conquered by [165]. She was a native and naturally you and she were closely associated. During the last of her life she gave much to the people by showing them the right relation between the conquered and the conqueror. She should dislike [165] at first and then like him later perhaps. Be sure that you understand her reactions to him and where they come from. You probably helped her to gain her understanding at this period. This time the urge would be excellent. She probably as ruler attempts to lead sometimes.

Troy At this period Miss [302] was your mother and mythology tells us a very selfish mother. You were very close to her at this period and there naturally comes over the close personal relationship. You would naturally be drawn toward one another. Again there would arise at times the same type of urge to rule you, as one in authority over you.

[165] - Egypt

At this time Arart [165] was a foreigner, a conqueror of your native land. There was at that time a certain amount of jealousy of your ability to teach and understand the people. Yet this was tempered with a great forbearance and [165] was instrumental in raising you to the position of chief scribe to the young ruler [341]. However he pitted his elder son [341] against you, attempting to match his son’s ability to give understanding to the people against your own. The result was a fine cooperative competition resulting in development for you both.

This time there is in [165] the natural urge to respect and wonder at your abilities, tempered at first as then with a doubt as to just how good you are. There naturally arises in you certain antagonistic feelings, especially when [165] is critical as he naturally would be until he understands you better. As then the abilities are there and will gradually gain his confidence and respect. Understand that he cannot help feeling a bit doubtful of you at first. Consider the angle which he has so far gotten on you - all business. Approach him through [294] until you can understand the man himself. Then you will be able to work with him directly - at times through [341]. The work which you and [165] have to do is in different fields. Each of you can fill your own position better than anyone else. The sooner you understand your respective separate fields and come to know that each of you at heart is working for the same ideal the sooner will you be able to cooperate and the work will profit immensely thereby. You are a bit ahead of him in understanding the bigness of it all so give him a chance to grasp it all and you will find him considerate, as he was in Egypt. The work is at a point in its development where this means a step forward or backward. From the forces on High have come the plea to work together. Certainly neither of you must leave a stone unturned to try to cooperate with the other. It is a hard job. Yes. But the progress of the human soul means one hard job after another.

Palestine

At the period of the rebuilding of the walls of the Holy City [165] was an armor bearer to the one [Sanballat] who resisted and fought the return of the chosen people. You came in contact with him as an enemy and there was a natural development of antagonism. An interesting connection at this time was that you were directly associated with [953] working with him on the gate. [953] was the one who was sent to parley with the attackers including [165]. This opens then an approach to [165] through [953], for again in Egypt [165] was very close to [953] since the latter was an important councillor. Before long [953] is coming into the picture and you will find him very useful in working with [165], though at this time it may seem a bit like using one fire to put out another. From this appearance there comes a natural tendency to disagree which almost takes a physical aspect at times. Be careful of this and remember that this time he is on the same side though at times he doesn’t act like it.

Dr. [5618] - Egypt

At this time Dr. [5618] acted as a councillor to the councillors and was in charge of the institutions as were builded then for the care of the mentally, physically and spiritually ill. He was in a position where he refused to side with the priest [294] the king [341] or the rebelling forces. He was on the fence as it were, influenced by the ideas of all yet trying to work out only those suggestions which he felt would bring development to the nation.

He has this time a difficult place in relation to the many various peoples contacted. Your relation with him at that time was favorable. At times possibly you did not understand his attitudes but worked with him for greater development whenever possible. There comes at this time a trust in the ability of the entity, innately, yet a questioning of his attitudes now and then. You can give him a greater insight into the spiritual bigness of the work. This he needs. He has for you the greatest respect and confidence.

Mrs. [760] - Egypt

Mrs. [760] was the sister to the young ruler [341] and one who assisted in the decorations of the schools and temples. In this capacity she came in contact with you and though she was a foreigner and you a native there must have been a respect for the abilities of the other.

There comes at this time the urge for each to trust the ability of the other but both of you hold off from an outward expression of this feeling. You will find her easy to approach directly and more easily through [341]. She is one fitted by this appearance and others to work in this work in the capacity she is now in. A sensitive heart of gold. An interesting angle which you know little of is her interest in the mystic and the occult. This her reading tells us can be highly developed. This would be a good approach if started gradually. You could help her a great deal.

Mrs. [106] - [900]‘s mother]

Palestine

Your mother [106] was closely connected with you at this period as one of those who had much to do with the preparation for the return to the Holy City. The relationship this time should be very good. There was possibly some connection closer than we can see from the life reading. A point for questions.

Dr. [204] - Egypt

Dr. [204] was at this period one who gave much to the people through teaching a practical application of the principles you were helping to give out. Your contact with him must have been very close. There should arise this time a natural respect for your abilities carrying with it the idea that you should be more practical. Understand his natural tendency and flatter him with your interest in his manner of presentation which will be good for certain classes. You can work nicely with him.

Troy

At this time Dr. [204] worked directly under you and with you “Many were the councils given and taken.” He lost at that time through application of self to the interest of others but this time has the urge to be true to self that there may come no reproach from others. This again is favorable to a good relation to him at this time. He will fit nicely into the position of one to present many of the truths which are brought out through the readings in a practical way and manner.

[5453] - Egypt

At this period Mr. [5453] worked in the capacity of the one giving the laws, as you worked them out, to the people. His work then was similar in many respects to that which he is doing now. He was then as now connected directly with some phase of the institutions. His later appearances, however, have drawn him close to [294] and he will work, as the reading suggests, better directly under him. You can help him a great deal in understanding the principles of the data he is collecting.

Troy

At this time [5453] was a Trojan and one opposed to you. This accounts for his first general attitude toward you but which has been overcome as he began to see you less in the light of an Achilles. This connection will cause now and then little flares. Watch these and understand where they come from.

[849] - Egypt

At this period [849] like yourself was a native and while you probably did not openly favor the rebellion which he led against the king ([341]) you were at heart in sympathy with him. Perhaps you considered him wrong in principle but liked him as an individual. In leading the rebellion he possibly had in mind the idea of making you the leading teacher and scribe of the day should he be successful.

At this time there is a sincere respect in him for your abilities while at first your attitude is rather prone to be doubtful of his seeming radical spirit. In his Egyptian appearance he came finally to a reasonable way of looking at the whole matter of developing the country and became friends with all. In later appearances he has gained much always acquiring abilities which will be of service to him in his present capacity. Through him you will be able to guide the publications of the Association, gradually he will become invaluable to you in carrying out the educational plans which are already being formed in your mind. He is a capable person. You can work nicely with him. Do not let the opportunity pass of securing for your own assistance as well as for the Association one of the most capable minds you will encounter for many a day. He needs “the work”, like most of us, and you can help him in understanding it.
