This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at Room 952 Tutwiler Hotel, Birmingham, Alabama, this 30th day of January, 1928, in accordance with request made by Mr. [900].

Time of Reading Room 952 Tutwiler Hotel, 10:30 A. M. Central Time. Birmingham, Alabama. (Mr. [900] giving dream suggestion.)

1. (Q) The one this morning in which I seemed distressed. My father had died, my mother was irreconcilable, and my brother and I were crying in each other’s arms. I said “I do not want to go away at this time.” Then my father entered, just in normal physical body. My mother grew frightened, and I said “Be not afraid for this is perfectly normal. Did not the Master reappear in flesh after what we call death?” I reached up to take my father’s face in my hands, but he stepped back and struck me, and was seen to be very angry with me. I said “Yes, the Master likewise said to Mary, ‘Touch me not for I am not yet risen to my father in heaven.’” He then continued striking me and I pulled off the arm, that is the ulnar and radial section, from the elbow joint, and a wire seemed to extend down with a shoe tree at the end. And I pointed out “Now you see how a cosmic entity may use the ectoplastic substance of this section to build about themselves a physical body they are conscious of having been in form while on the earth plane. (A) In this there is presented in this emblematic form and manner those conditions as existent in the mental and physical body of the entity at the present time; that is, while there are seemingly undue activities in and about the business relations and associations of the body that requires the presence of the body, and these seem to reach such proportions as to cause the body, [900], to consider that possibly would be better to defer the trip. Yet as is seen by that shown by the father, and as reasoned in the mind of the body, [900], as to how the body must be builded, that the life force may be manifested in and through the physical forces of the body.

Hence there was given by the father “Do not touch me”, fighting me off, and preventing even the close touch, that those understandings of the cosmic forces as were viewed with the weakened body, mental and physical, the lack of proportionate understanding may be manifested either for the physical conditions for the works of the body or of the mental understanding of those things necessary for the proper conception of the truths as taught by the Master, and as has been exemplified here in the mind and in the consciousness of the entity, then lay these thoughts and worries aside for even as the father entered, to comfort, brought fear to others, even so would the father enter should fear come to those who are handling the conditions while the body physical and mental recuperates or gains proper resuscitation from the association of the air, light, sea, and the universal consciousness.

2. (Q) Again telling me that those things I worry about are being well taken care of by those cosmic consciousnesses I understand so well to be working, or rather that I am working in cooperation with, in harmony to accomplish one purpose. (A) Correct.

3. (Q) The rest of the dream then regarding my father and my pre-vision of his death and my plans intuitively made, though not even definitely expressed in my own thoughts. Has this the same meaning? (A) Still carrying as was seen by that presented are the full accord, that is attained by the at-oneness of the body conscious with the forces as are manifested through the various cosmic forces in attunement with the entity’s desires and purposes, and that the body physical, taken as a unit and as a portion of the great whole, must be kept in that condition wherein physically there may be manifested, for in the physical plane or in the earth plane, there comes material manifestations in the various forms, as are patterns in the great oneness or the universal consciousness of which all are a part. Hence while each division of the Godhead or of the purpose may be taken apart as it were to study the various portions, yet when considered the body physical, the body mental, the body spiritual must be considered as a whole, so that with every other manifestation as comes to an individual in the proper understanding of that presented, that while each portion may be a separate individual manifestation, it is of the whole a part, and must be so considered.

R2. 2/21/28 EC’s letter to Mr. [900] to Calif. where Mr. [900] and wife were vacationing:

Dear [900]:-

I can’t begin to tell you everything about the trip. Gertrude was almost to Birmingham before the difference came up. Had it been a personal thing, I would have gone ahead and tried it out - for we had the city judge, the city attorney, chief of police, all on our side. The city is ruled by a commission, and one of the commissioners has an affidavit in our booklet - but because they took exceptions at the institution I thought it best not to attempt to make an issue at this time. We stayed until Saturday, and Saturday evening we had a meeting in one of the halls at the library and got the Club started. There were possibly forty or fifty present at the meeting. We have already received three or four applications and they will start into regular work as soon as we get these readings back and the others in shape. One man in Selma offers to pay the bill for one room - or, in other words, it will mean a contribution by he and his wife of $2500 a year, the institution once going. Bransford [Johnson Bransford] wants us to come to Nashville. He thinks we can get things in shape by being there a few days. We’ll do that as soon as you can go. All in all we had a very good trip. Not as much money as we’d like to have, but some preliminary work that is necessary if our institution is to be a success, and I’m sure it will be from the minute we are able to get started. I saw and talked to Dr. House. He is ready to come whenever we say the word. Come any time in two weeks notice. I told him I was sure we would be wanting him by or before the 15th. I haven’t heard from Miss [302]. Don’t know how she is progressing - haven’t known just whether I should write her or not, as I wired you I had request from [137] and I wired you just about the information that was given. I think the most peculiar thing that has come up recently is the life reading on Miss [97] that [195] wired for. We found - after the reading was sent - there had been a physical given for her about five years ago in Atlanta, Ga. Once they contact it they never get away, even though they may have forgotten it - as apparently we have the original in the files, she possibly never saw her reading.

I’m glad to know you are enjoying your trip. I’m sure it will do you worlds of good. I haven’t had time to read the information gotten to-day [900-370], as we’re trying to rush it off as the Post Office will not be open to-morrow, and it might delay it so that you wouldn’t get it. Will write you again to-morrow and try to get it away - I must hurry with this. All pretty well except Miss Gladys. She has been feeling so bad that we haven’t got up with our correspondence, though she has insisted on taking care of the readings each day. She’ll be alright in a day or two - it’s only a bad cold or the flu. The weather is fine here - cool but fine. Let us hear from you. All send kindest personal regards.
