This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Va. Beach, Va., this 25th day of January, 1933, in accordance with request made by self - via husband, [257], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 3:20 to 3:40 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.

1. GC: You will have before you [903] and [257], …, N.Y.C., [257] now at Space …, N.Y.C., who seek advice as to the proper conduct of their lives to insure happiness for both themselves and children, and proper development for their lives to meet with approval of God and man, and to avoid any criticism in lives of either or to one another. You will then answer the questions that will be asked.

2. EC: Yes, we have the bodies, the enquiring minds, [903] and [257]; these we have had before.

3. Now, there has been given to each that that should be put first and foremost in their lives, their activities, socially, mentally, materially, spiritually.

4. There are now those dependent upon the activities of each, those whose training is in the formative years when there should be that impetus for the stressing of the mental attitudes of these developing souls toward that which is to be constructive in their relationships with their fellowman, their attitude, aptitude, toward those things that bespeak of the spiritual impetus in their lives.

5. With such obligations, if it be possible, there is the greater reason why each should - again - RENEW in themselves, their mental beings, that which has been given as to what it must mean in the lives of each to build a home. And, as to how each must give and take - give AND give, that there may be in this home the moral, mental and material manifestations in the lives of each, for those who are dependent upon each; that the home may be - and SHOULD BE - the material or earthly manifestation of a permanent abiding place - a haven, a home - a heaven, a home!

6. If each will consider these relationships that have been given, THEN there must be the determination within their own individual minds as to what constitutes the ideal activity of each, as to what their social, their moral, their business relations with others are to be, for the making of that chosen by each as to what their pattern shall be.

7. Each then, in the light of the experience that is gained by such a conference into the heart of each, will act according to the dictates of their own conscience. For, He that gives life - Him in whom we live and move and have our being - has set His moral codes, and they that err from same do so to their own undoing.

8. Having chosen then whom ye shall serve - whether self, and the gratification of self’s desires, or those obligations that have been assumed of self, those that have been given into thine keeping - let each, with that as is the answer - as in water, the face answers to face - that which is known in self as the manner of EVERY act, be guided accordingly. For, the answer is in self, and not for any moralist - or any wagging tongue that may seek to find fault, or that may spread any unkind word. Know in self what is chosen, cooperating one with another, giving and taking, giving and taking, conducting self in that way that is chosen by the cooperation of selves - as to that not only as duty, but as a privilege for the better expressing of, manifesting of that. Not as an idealist, but rather as that that will bring that which is the desire of thine inner heart toward the IDEAL that is chosen!

10. (Q) Reference [257], his personal affairs and conditions at home, please advise him whether he is right as to proper conduct and relations with social conditions. (A) As given, judge ye from that which has already been set before thee! Thou knowest in self! but he that condemns is condemned already!

11. (Q) Advise [903] her proper attitude as to being seen in public unaccompanied by her husband but with strangers. (A) As ye have chosen, and as ye choose - that which ye would have done to you, do ye even so to others!

12. (Q) What will be public reaction as to her standing, or danger of criticism? (A) Dare to do that that is right, and in accord with that ideal chosen as the standard for the home! Not what others will say, but - what is thine ideal? What would ye have said of self? What would ye say in the same circumstance? What is thy ideal? So act, so conduct self, IRRESPECTIVE of what others may say or others may do! Be rather as he of old, “Others may do as they may, but as for me and my house, WE will serve the living God!”

13. (Q) Can she, being a mother, afford to risk her reputation by public appearances with other men when her husband is out of the city? (A) This, as we have intimated and given, shall be a cooperative decision; and this must be chosen of themselves, not from here! Is it directed, or is it right, that ANY should interfere? or do other than, even as He has given, “As ye sow, so shall ye reap - and men do not gather figs from thistles.”

14. (Q) Or, is [257] wrong in old ideas of associations? (A) WHO is able to judge as to what is the right or the wrong, save that a home, a haven, a heaven, must present and produce peace, harmony, understanding! Then, let EACH conduct their lives in such a manner as befits that chosen as the ideal cooperation of each, as to their relationships to self, to each other, to home, and to their social surroundings.
