This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 25th day of September, 1937, in accordance with request made by the husband - Mr. [257], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 3:00 to 3:10 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, N.Y. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have those conditions as we find that need corrections with this body, [903]; this we have had before.
-
As we find in the present, there is first an unbalancing of the elements in the activities of the system - or lack of sufficient calcium for the full activity with the changes that come in the bodily functioning, or body building.
-
Hence there should be the use of the food values that carry such in such measures as may be assimilated by the body. Those as we find in turnips, carrots, lettuce, the oyster plant and those of such natures especially should be a portion of the diet.
-
Also we find in the 4th lumbar and through the sacral area there are disturbances the adjustment of which, with the changes in the diet first and then the corrections, would prevent that inclination for the body to tire easily, for the disturbance through a portion of the sciatic center, the heaviness across the lower portion of the body in the small of the back and the limbs and the feet that at times would grow more and more disturbing conditions unless they were corrected.
-
Then after the corrections, and after at least four to six weeks of the diet being specific in those things indicated as a portion of same, we find that exercises and breathings that make for the flow of the blood supply through those particular portions of the body would be most beneficial.
-
We find that afterward, and occasionally - once in three to four weeks, or oftener, the hydrotherapy and the rubs that go with such applications and treatments would be most beneficial for the body.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What is the condition of the blood? (A) As indicated, it is lacking in those elements that are structural building in the system. And the addition of those things indicated as a specific part of the diet, each of these every few days, would be corrective measures for same.
-
(Q) Please describe the condition of the pelvic organs. (A) As indicated, in the lumbar and through the sacral areas there are corrections to be made to remove the pressures upon the organs of the system.
-
(Q) What specific exercises? (A) As indicated, those that make for a directing of the blood supply to the pelvic area and to the areas below the waistline.
-
(Q) Should the body continue her work with the music which she plans to undertake? (A) This as we find, if the corrections are made and if there are those activities indicated, will be rather an outlet for the body; and would be very well, just so there isn’t too much of a strain or tiring of the body by continued activity.
-
(Q) Shall the body continue her work as class mother? (A) This as we find may be very well left off, though a part - or as a part time activity in this direction would be very well.
-
(Q) Shall the body head up the dramatic group in the community? (A) Later in the season, not in the beginnings - for this as we find, with the other activities, would become rather too strenuous for the body.
-
(Q) How often should the corrections be made? (A) About twice a week until five to six or eight are taken, and then less often - whenever tired or depleted through the activities, then it would be well to have an occasional treatment.
Or rather as indicated, if there are specific periods for the hydrotherapy and the rubs that go with same, after the corrections, these would be the better.
- (Q) What will improve the mental condition of the body? (A) That is within the activities of the body itself. The mental attitudes, as known to the body, respecting conditions or activities, become a part of the whole being.
Do these as we find in the way as has been indicated, and we will find a great relief and the prevention of further distresses later on.
- We are through with this Reading.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 1/30/38 Mr. [257]‘s letter: “[903] worries me quite a bit. She seems to have a little disturbance since [759] and [773] were born she has had the osteopathic adjustments and they seem to be o.k. but the inside pains are still there.”
R2. 2/3/38 EC’s letter: “It must be the strain she gets under at times that continues to keep that place out of line. She will have to rest long enough to let it get set, is all I can see.”
R3. 2/4/38 Husband, Mr. [257]‘s letter: I had quite a lengthy talk with Dr. Berg [Wm. M. Berg, Ph.T.] who informed me that he had sent down to you one of his steam baths with his compliments. He is a very appreciative fellow and I believe he will give the treatments with more consideration than anyone we know. Confidentially, Reilly has gotten so big that he hardly touches a patient himself except a touch here and there. Dr. Berg will give more attention to a patient because he and his wife do the actual work. Of course, we must maintain our connection with Reilly and we will send certain patients and people to him, but I think a Reading like Mrs. [189]‘s can be handled better by Dr. Berg than Reilly.
[903] is taking 10 treatments from Reilly because of his Scotch Douche. I am not certain that Berg has it. However, I will go to Berg’s Saturday afternoon and in the future, you might tell Gladys that where Readings require a lot of attention such as the one for Mrs. [189] and you might read it again in order to get an idea of what I mean and you will see how much work is to be done (then divide the Readings between Berg and Reilly). Where the work does not involve gym and things of that kind, as Reilly has the place for it, but I believe that Berg has more equipment of that kind than Reilly has. Please let me know what you think about this. You see, Gladys has listed on the bottom (one for the Reilly Service).
[903] has had quite a little complaint in the last few weeks. She took the Reading over to Dr. Schoelles and the bones which were out of place have gone back in again and she is relieved of the backache. She went to Reilly’s and took the Scotch Douche there which Dr. Schoelles says has helped keep these bones in place but she is still bothered about the pelvic condition. I am sending you a list of questions and the first morning you have open and you feel like giving this Reading, I wish you would give it as she is very worried about it and so am I.
She saw Dr. Langstadt [Arthur Langstadt, M.D.], one of the German doctors and he told her that since [773] was born there is a condition existing which has not been corrected and I am basing my questions upon what he said. She went there accidentally as [2126] was getting an examination and the doctor suggested that while she was there he might as well examine her.
