This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 24th day of November, 1926, in accordance with request made by her mother, Mrs. […].

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time. You will diagnose the case thoroughly, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body.

2. EC: Yes, we have the body here.

3. Now, we find there are many abnormal conditions with this body. Many of the conditions are a complication of conditions that have arisen in the body from time to time, and the system attempting to adjust itself has become rather unbalanced in the distribution of assimilated forces in the system, produced by weakening of other conditions and the system becoming so set by the taking on of forces as become accumulative in the system by not being eliminated in their proper channels. Hence we find the system becoming unbalanced in this way and manner as to cause the certain portions of the body, as are seen in the structural portions, especially those about which there are the soft bone structure, to increase in size and in form and, as will be seen, unless this is stopped, or the balanced created, will continue to increase until all of the structural portions - where ligament and tissue and serum [sinew], as between joint and bone - will gradually increase until there would be the destruction of the structural ability of the bone portion of the body.

4. Now, the properties as have been given the system have been of assistance in decreasing this accumulation, or this separation in the lymph and blood stream of assimilations that causes this condition, but the strengthening of the glandular system, that would create a better balance, has been neglected.

5. Now, the causes of these conditions are of numerous natures. The histology of the condition shows as this: First we have a suppression of the normal functioning of the glands in the system as produce the creative or generative elements in system. Then we have, added to this, that increase in the system of those elements, as known as of the germ nature, producing congestion in the system, creating destructive elements that destroy the replenishing or rebuilding in system. Then we had added to the system an increase in the numbers of the cells necessary to destroy this condition - that is, “flu” - cold, see? and congestion. Then this excess, added to the suppression, set up in the various portions - first in antrum, then in the soft bony structure - these congested conditions as produced this condition as is seen, see? This may be termed or called the enlarging, or a plethora created in soft structural portions of system by drosses - an oversupply of rebuilding of the unproper sort left in system, through the poor eliminations as were caused by suppression and by the congestion in system. Temperature produced portions of it. Water as was taken and assimilated produced portions of it. The lack of the proper material for normal structural building, see?

6. Then, to overcome these conditions, we would still keep those properties that have been given the system, as injections, to decrease the amount of the structural portions of building in the body - through the serum, see?

7. We would also add, both internally and vibratorially, those properties as will MATERIALLY CHANGE THE ACTION OF THE GLANDS IN THE SYSTEM AS CREATE THE GENERATIVE SYSTEM, and will add also, THROUGH the vibratory force in same and internally, that as will produce a normality in elimination, and in the creating of that as will bring about the equilibrium, and the collaboration and coordination of rebuilding in system, and eliminating from system. Taking, then, in these proportions and properties:

8. To 15 ounces of distilled water, add 15 grains of Chloride of Gold, with 20 grains of Bromide of Soda, see? The dose would be 3 to 5 drops of this solution in half a glass of water twice each day, see?

9. Then we would take those vibrations as would be supplied through the Radio-Active Appliance of Chloride of Gold (15 grains), dissolved in 10 ounces of distilled water, and the anode of the positive attached to the wrist and the negative - through which the vibration from gold - attached to the umbilicus, see? and the next day attach the positive, or the FIRST anode to the ankle - opposite sides of the body each time, see? but ever the last one attached, or large circular plate attached to the umbilicus, see? This should be attached for at least an hour each day.

10. Let the diet be those properties that carry those of easy digestion, and from which drosses may be easily eliminated. Vegetables rather than meat. Mineral rather than of flesh, see? or of too much of the rebuilding in that direction.

11. Do this for at least thirty (30) days. Then we would give the changes as necessary.

12. The operations in this condition would not prove effective. The elimination and the equalization of the system must be established, and the NORMAL forces brought about, see? Unless this would prove effective, then it might be necessary to give injections direct to cerebro-spinal system. Use these as have been given, however, first. With the proper serum given, as has been in the past, that has acted somewhat with this condition, with the addition of that which adds to that of the gland forces in system, especially to the generatory system, or generative system, we will find this will show improvement.

13. The nausea as may be created in the first two or three days - this will be overcome by using any soothing condition for the stomach, or a mild emit.

14. Do that, for the present.

15. We are through for the present.

My dear Mrs. [923]

Yours of the 22nd [verifying the appointment] was received just as I went to get the reading this morning. I don’t know, of course, the conditions - not being a physician when I’m awake, I don’t know how well I understand what is given, but I believe that if this is carried out we will find improvement.

You will notice that it suggests that the injections the doctor has been giving should be kept up, but that the Gold should be given internally, and also through the Radio-Active Appliance. This is a little machine that is made by Mr. T. B. Brown, Brookins Manufacturing Company, Dayton, Ohio, and you will be able to obtain same from him. I would certainly order this immediately, and try it all out. I certainly am hoping and praying that you will obtain the results as so many others have. I don’t know just what Dr. Furniss’ attitude is. Possibly he will cooperate in this treatment. I hope he will. I assure you of our sincere desire to be of help, and am certainly in hopes that you will keep us informed from time to time, and if it is possible for us to be of help, we desire to do so.

As for the remuneration, under present conditions we leave this entirely with the individual. Its our hope to soon have an institution, where such cases as this can be taken care of. I’m sure the institution would make a specific charge. But we are dependent entirely upon these contributions at present from those we try to help. So we ask and appreciate each one contributing just as much as they feel they are able to, for the propagation of the work depends upon it. Hoping you will let us hear from you, I am

B1. 10/31/26 Mrs. [923] mother’s letter: “She had the ‘flu’ two years in succession and we think that the cause of her trouble now. Her bones seem to be enlarging, or growing as she calls it [akromegalia?]. Both shoulder bones or blades are larger and the left one has several knots on it, also the spine, while her shoulders seem to be growing upward and forward, and the past three weeks it has gone to the cheek bones, especially the left one. She has tried various remedies, but nothing seems to do her any good. She has tried various remedies, but nothing seems to do her any good. Now she is thinking of going to Boston to Dr. Harvey Cushing there, who performs an operation and takes out some gland in the forehead or behind the forehead pituitary?]. It is a very serious operation, I hear, and I am nearly crazy at the thought of her going up there alone for such a serious operation, and I feel if she does she will never return to us alive. She is far from strong, has stomach trouble, and does not eat enough to keep her alive. I have come to you in my trouble, hoping you will give her a ‘reading’ and tell her her trouble, and what to do to effect a cure. I am too old and feeble to go with her, and I feel you could help her, and tell what to do without going to Boston… I hear even this operation is not always a success, so Dr. Furniss tells… Dr. Furniss is giving her a serum, but so far has not done her any good. At first when she complained of her bones growing and the intense pain she suffered, he said it was ‘all in her mind,’ imagination, and neuritis. Now they say arthritis, combined with something else worse.

“I have heard so much of you and went to see you soon after moving to … but you were not in town. I wanted to counsel you about her stomach trouble [she had a bad case of nervous indigestion and colitis - a few years ago]… She will be 50 yrs. old the 27th of Nov.”
