This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va., this 24th day of May, 1927, in accordance with request made by self - Mr. [93].
[Edgar Cayce; Mrs. Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading U.S. Veterans’ Hospital, 12:10 Noon Eastern Standard Time. 79, Outwood, Kentucky.
-
GC: You will go over this body carefully, examine it thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the present time, giving the cause of the existing conditions, also the treatment for the cure and relief of this body.
-
EC: Yes. Now, we find there are those existent conditions with the physical forces and functionings of the body that are detrimental to the best of the functioning and of the manifestations of the physical forces of this body.
-
These - as is seen, as is known, as is given - have to do with that bacilli that has made inroads in the tissue of the lung, and the effect same produces on the general physical forces, as well as bronchials and the tissue of throat and lungs.
-
These conditions, as we find, are the outcome of a depleted physical body, and by exposure, and by the inhaling of those properties that set up - in and under the weakened conditions - those conditions that made the physical forces an easy prey to this bacilli, which at some periods attacks practically all the physical forces of man.
-
In the meting out of those conditions that have been applied for the upbuilding, and for the resistance to be builded in the system, these have been very good; yet, as we find, were those vibrations so set up in the body that were in accord with that necessary for the physical needs of this body, these being then in unison through that set vibration - for all life force is of the vibratory nature, and when set in the proper and correct attunement for the physical needs of a given body and its vibratory force, and add to these those principles as have been applied in body and tissue building, add to these that as will change the vibratory forces in that of the lung tissue, and we will bring the better forces and meet the needs of the conditions that needs be corrected more properly in this body of [93]; for we find as these:
-
THE BLOOD STREAM, shows that it, in itself (the blood supply) does not meet the needs of the conditions, in that there being so much of the bacilli or the germ carried that temperature is created at MOST all periods, especially when the physical forces are at their lowest ebb, by the normal usage of same, either from physical or mental exertion, signifying that the vibratory force of the blood stream is such that the drosses from system cannot be eliminated - and drosses means here used forces in the normal physical or living being of the body; that is, as the body thinks, moves, or is in action, there is vitality used up, which is as ash, or as residue in the system. This must be eliminated. When the blood stream is not sufficiently strong or properly attuned to remove such drosses, and at the same time meet the needs of that necessary to destroy the bacilli that attacks the tissue, then the temperature occurs in the body. Not that this is at PRESENT of such nature as to be alarming, for these have been worse, and they HAVE been some better.
-
There is seen there is hardly sufficient of the leucocyte created in the blood supply.
-
At times we find these conditions get on the nerves of the body, as it were, and the body ceases to care to put up the resistance, feeling as if there is no use. This should be dismissed, for the body should acquire and gain, and set before self, that all building and replenishing for a physical body is from within, and must be constructed by the mind of the entity; for MIND is the BUILDER; for each cell in the atomic force of the body is as a world of its own, and each one - each cell - being in perfect unison, may build to that necessary to reconstruct the forces of the body in all its needs, and in this body, as given, there is then necessary to add that vibration to that being administered, that would give this incentive, necessary in rest, necessary in blood building, necessary in the cellular forces of the body, for these to coordinate the more properly, would we bring the better physical forces to the body.
-
We would not belittle - we would not change so much from that being administered.
-
Rather would we add this as those forces necessary to build BETTER for the physical needs of this body.
-
We would take a wooden container - preferably one charred within (keg) - two - two and a half gallon. In same place one gallon of pure apple brandy, see? Set keg on end. Keep where evaporation will be continual; that is, keep in a warm place, see? so corked that none of the gases from the evaporation escape, save in the space above the liquid. Into this space there would be a tube, through which the body may inhale only the fumes or gases as form by this evaporation. Keep this tube tightly corked when not using. Inhale this into the lungs at least two to three times each day. Begin with only two to three such inhalations, but these properties in this manner enter the lung in such a way and manner as to meet the needs of the lungs in clarifying and in overcoming these conditions; for these act as an antiseptic, as it were, for these portions of the body.
-
It will be found then necessary that the intestinal system - with such inhalations - be kept near normal, and not allow any clogging whatever throughout the alimentary canal, or throughout the normal evacuation or eliminations through these channels; for we do not desire to congest or overtax the liver or kidneys.
-
With this change, we would add as another antiseptic, these properties, which will aid in the clarification and of the ability of the body to overcome the temperature, the cough, the spittle, and to cleanse the system:
-
In a six (6) ounce container (glass - with glass stopper) put four (4) ounces of pure grain alcohol. Add:
Eucalyptol, or Oil of Eucalyptol…20 minims, Benzosol…10 minims, Rectified Oil of Turp…5 minims, Canadian Balsam…5 minims, Heroin…1/60 grain, powdered, so it dissolves in these properties, Tincture Tolu in solution…30 minims.
-
Keep the solution corked, except when inhaled. Shake and inhale the fumes only from the solution, whenever necessary to prevent coughing, to prevent irritation or tickling, or to prevent any of the conditions that arise from tissue breaking in lung, throat, or bronchials.
-
For the vibratory forces, set that for the body - an hour each day - as will be found in the Radio-Active Appliance, see? That of the plain, and the anode of the negative should be attached to either wrist; that is, one time the right, the other time the left. The positive always to the ankle - may be alternated there also, see? but the last anode attached to the wrist. This should be used an hour each day.
-
Do as has been given here. We will show improvement.
-
In thirty to sixty (30 to 60) days we would give those changes that necessary for the greater improvement of the body here, [93].
-
We are through for the present.
Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 6/27 Letter from EC to [93]: “I have your report, and I thank you very much for same. I don’t know just what suggestion to offer to you as regarding the brandy, unless you were to make it yourself for your own use. You know there would be nothing illegal about that, for you do not drink it even yourself - you merely inhale the fumes from same. Now, just how you make apple brandy, I don’t know, but I’m sure that someone could give you instruction - or, if you can let me know whether you are near Dayton, Columbus, or Cincinnati, there may be physicians in one or the other of these towns, that I could refer you to, that could have this prepared for you. I certainly would like to see you carry this out, for I believe you will get entirely rid of your trouble, if you can do it this summer. Remember, you do not TAKE the brandy at all - you merely inhale the gas fumes that forms above the same in the container, for you have twice as much space above the liquid as there is liquid; yet you keep the container tightly corked and in the wooden keg…”
Background
Background
B1. 4/29/27 Letter to EC from Mr. [93]: “I have been taking the ‘cure’ for T.B. since 1920 and am at present at U.S. Veterans Hospital at Outwood, Kentucky.
“The manager of the Superior Woolen Mills, Inc. of Hopkinsville told me to write to you for information concerning anything you might be able to do in my case. He spoke of other cases of a different nature with which you have dealt successfully.
“I would be interested in the methods you persue providing that they are not of a religious or spiritual nature…”
B2. 5/5/27 Letter from Mr. [93] to EC: “I have just finished your booklets and naturally am very interested in your work.
“Although I have seen nothing in the testimonials regarding tuberculosis, I feel that you may be of some assistance to me.
“I have been under the care of the U.S. Veterans Hospital since 1920 and have been hospitalized approximately thirty three months not in one stretch but eleven months in 1920, ten months in 1921, and nearly 12 months here.
“My right lung collapsed in 1922, but am now using the lower part of it and my rating is far advanced, having activity in all five lobes. I have had a number of hemorrhages, but none of any size since 1922.
“This past winter has been very hard on me because of my being subject to bronchitis. I had several attacks which put me back physically and I believe I am worse than when I entered. I expect to regain what I lost now that warm dry weather is near.
“I am also very nervous and have trouble with my heart just prior to falling asleep at night. Because of this I loose several hours of sleep at night and do not get enough rest. I have been told that my heart is normal and that this nervous condition will probably continue as long as my lungs are active. I have been bothered at least five years in this manner and have never gotten used to it. I smoke a package of cigaretts a day which does not harm me that I know of except possibly an increase of pulse.
“I usually have two to four-tenths temperature centigrade each evening which has persisted for months.
“I will be here until June 1 at which time I may go home for a two weeks visit. Until then I will be here taking rest hours at 9 to 11 A.M.; 1 to 3 P.M. and 5:30 to 7 P.M.
“See what you can do for me and try to arrange an appointment before June 1…”
