This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 11th day of February, 1936, in accordance with request made by the father - Mr. […], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 3:55 to 4:05 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ohio. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here; this we have had before.
-
Changes, as we find, are evidenced in the conditions through the system.
-
While there is much yet to be desired, in making for the proper coordinations through the activities of the system - and between the sensory reactions and the impulses through the cerebrospinal system, we find that with these changes other conditions arise that apparently become greater disturbing factors in some directions.
-
But if there will be continued the carrying on of those suggestions, and the addition of other things to meet the conditions as arise, we would find continued improvement.
-
Continue, then, with the use of the Packs.
-
We would continue with the use of the manipulative and corrective forces that have been suggested.
-
In fact, we would continue with ALL of those things that have been indicated.
-
For the insomnia, or the tendency for the restlessness, use the Radio-Active Appliance at least an hour each day, or oftener.
-
Make for those activities in the physical body such that not only the MIND is kept busy but that the body is required to be centralized. That is, make for such activities that the physical body as well as the mental body is interested or centralized or employed in same. These should be more or less of a manual nature, as to produce in the activities a reaction through the respiratory system; or such exercise as to obtain a SWEAT or an activity through the respiratory system - even though it requires a gymnasium exercise; but preferably those things which require the mind as well as the body activity.
-
For those conditions that become disturbing at times, which make for the losses, or that show a reaction through the genitive system (and these, as we find, are the natural results or effects of the changes taking place) (hence the necessity for a mental and a physical reaction that the energies and the strength of the body may be utilized), we would - when these become the more disturbing - use a compound prepared in this manner:
-
To 1 ounce of Elixir of Lactated Pepsin, add - in the order named:
Compound Simple Syrup…1 ounce, Saltpetre, well dissolved…10 grains, Syrup of Rhubarb…1/2 ounce, Tincture of Stillingia…1/2 ounce.
Shake the solution well before taking. The dose would be a teaspoonful just before retiring. But do not take same unless there becomes more and more a disturbing factor in this direction. But when necessary, these properties may be used to allay; and yet to act upon the system in aiding a release through the lacteals and those portions of the system where the disturbing conditions have caused and do cause distresses through the alimentary canal.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What may be done to quiet the nervous system? (A) As indicated. Follow up those suggestions in not only the manipulative measures, but the use of the Radio-Active Appliance.
-
(Q) This will also enable the body to sleep? (A) As indicated, it is for the restlessness and insomnia.
-
(Q) Please explain why the attacks come on always from a slight shock of some kind; as unexpected noise, stumbling, etc.? (A) As indicated, there is a breaking; or a non-coordination between the sympathetic and the cerebrospinal systems. And it is almost the same effect of a shock, of an excitement, that would be produced in a wire that is partially broken; when set in a certain way the current passes through, but a turning of same causes sparks or a disconnection and a reaction that makes for a flashing. So with the nervous system. Hence the continued use of all those things as indicated, that will enable the body to make for the more perfect coordination between the cerebrospinal and the sympathetic nervous systems - and especially in relationship to those centers and ganglia where there are the particular clogging conditions between the nervous systems in the lumbar and the dorsal areas.

We are through with this reading.

R1. 2/16/36 Father’s letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce, Asso. for Research & Enlightenment, Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Mr. Cayce:
The third reading on [1025] arrived in due time and in accordance with its advice we are following the osteopathic treatment as before, together with the application of oil packs and the use of the medicine when required, in accordance with prescription embodied in the reading.
The question of adequate exercise involves some problem, as I find [1025] in his present condition does not have much desire for such exercise. However, I am stressing this need to him, and as soon as his nervous condition shows sufficient improvement, will get him into some gymnasium work and other outdoor activities.
In reviewing [1025]‘s condition over the past month or two at least, it has been demonstrated that almost every attack he has had during this period has been induced by some nervous shock, which, as I recall, I stated to you in my last letter, which is evident of a very general change in his condition, as heretofore, a great proportion of his attacks would be induced for no apparent reason.
I am pinning much hope on the help he will receive from the Radio-Active appliance, but unfortunately this has not arrived to date, although I placed an order for a unit sometime during the first week in February; the latest advice from the Home Remedies Appliance Company, received a day or two ago, being to the effect that they were experiencing some delay in getting material needed for their appliances. If there is anything you may be able to do in hurrying them, that is, without going to too much trouble, I would appreciate it very much. With receipt of this appliance we will carry on as you have directed for a few weeks, during which time I will report progress, and then ask you to give [1025] a further reading.
I want you to know that we all are deeply appreciative of the interest you are taking in [1025]‘s condition, and know that you will have a deep sense of gratification when he begins to turn the corner for better health.
With my kindest regards, I am
Very sincerely yours,
R2. 3/9/36 EC’s letter:
Dear Mr. […]
Yours of recent date came while I was in Detroit again. Thanks to the Powers that be that matter there was settled all satisfactorily, and fine. Glad to hear from you Mr. […]. Do hope [1025] is still responding to the treatments and that his nervousness is subsiding in a natural way. Too bad about the Appliance, but this Organization has been undergoing some reorganization and has tied matters up considerably, but hope and believe that you will be hearing from them soon if you haven’t already heard. That I feel sure will help a lot, for have had some very marvelous reports where they have been suggested.
Know we will be glad to hear from you at any and all times. Hope you will keep us informed, as we are quite anxious to be of help if possible.
Thanking you, and with all good wishes
Sincerely [signed] Edgar Cayce
R3. 7/60 Dr. W. N. Pahnke’s breakdown of 96 cases of epilepsy from the Edgar Cayce records, Case [1025] was classified in Group I. “Convulsions were described as resulting from nervous shock. There is a good chance that this would fit the diagnosis of epilepsy. There is no final report on the case.”
