This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the Dayton- Biltmore, Dayton, Ohio, this 11th day of December, 1935, in accordance with request made by the husband - Mr. [1745], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., through his sister, Mrs. [1100].
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Douglas W. and Wm. S. Robinson, and Hugh Lynn Cayce.]
Time of Reading 9:45 to 9:55 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Texas. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here.
-
Due to the anxieties and excitements, the conditions have become rather exaggerated - even under the stresses that have existed.
-
As we find in the present, it would be well, then, that the Ash and the lights be used; that more oxygen may be had for the circulation, else the temperature will become of such a nature as to become more and more destructive especially to the kidney and liver circulation.
-
Owing to the very nature of the condition or the temperature through the lung area itself, naturally there is the lack of the blood supply.
-
Hence the manipulations should be to stimulate the flow of the circulation through the liver, the kidneys, or through the hepatic circulation; treating the body there.
-
We find that the keeping of the fumes burned in the room, as has been indicated, would be the most beneficial.
-
Also we find that the inhaling of the fumes from apple brandy would be most beneficial. For THIS particular condition in the immediate, it would be best that such fumes be from putting at least a tablespoonful of pure apple brandy in a quantity (say two tablespoonful) of very hot water (as in a croup cup) and allow the fumes or the vapor to be inhaled. In this manner (with the water in same) it will supply to the mucous membranes, to the lungs, to the throat, a moisture that would be most helpful for the body.
-
Later, if the responses come from these, if there is the ability to keep down the breaking of tissue through hemorrhage, then we would use the apple brandy in a charred keg - that would be kept where evaporation would be rather fast; and the smoke or fumes of same inhaled into the lungs. The fumes, the gas; not the brandy itself. When used in this manner, later, the brandy would NOT be put in water, but use half a gallon in a gallon or gallon and a half charred container, but corked so that it does not escape - and keep close to warmth so that the evaporation takes place.
-
These, with those suggestions that have been indicated, we would keep.
-
As to the diet, we would keep those as indicated, adding beef juice and - for the sweets - honey, or any of the whole wheat cereals. But ALL should be given in a VERY small quantity.
-
These are the better, as we find.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What should be the dosage of the Ash in the present and how often? (A) An eighth of a grain every other day, followed by the light - as ever indicated for such a disturbance.
-
(Q) Should the vapors from the Oil of Pine Needles and Eucalyptus be kept in the room constantly, or occasionally? (A) WELL that these be kept, not too much of same all the time. For the fumes of Pine and Eucalyptus are HEALING, as well as non-irritating to the lung and throat.
Keep the poultice, but get the Concord and not the other grapes. If the Concord grapes cannot be secured, then use the seedless white grapes; though the SEED in the Concord grapes are those that take away the inflammation the most.
Necessary that eliminations be kept, even though an enema be used each day; for there should be a movement every day. If there is not a natural movement, then use the enema.
-
(Q) How often should the poultice be used? (A) Whenever there is pain across the abdomen.
-
(Q) What may be done for the swollen eyelids? (A) This condition may be relieved by the pressure on the spine to set up drainages from the system. Let this pressure or manipulation extend, then, to the upper cervical area.
-
(Q) What will reduce the temperature? (A) Those that have been indicated should reduce the temperature. A little bathing with grain alcohol will reduce same. But the temperature is necessary with such inflammation. Reduce by the use, then, of GRAIN alcohol along the spine.
-
We are through with this reading.
Copy to Self ” ” Ass’n file ” ” Mrs. [1100]
[Western Union Day Letter, collect, as follows]:
Use Ash and light with grain alcohol rub along spine for temperature. Continue entire suggestions, using only Concord or seedless white grapes. Also inhale fumes from pure apple brandy with hot water in croup cup. Add small quantities beef juice, whole wheat cereal, honey. Osteopathic stimulations through hepatic circulation and upper cervicals.

R1. 12/13/35 Mrs. [1100]‘s letter: “The check reading came today and thank you so much for taking this for us and for sending the copy. I think it is very clear. Surely wish it was possible to get some concord grapes. I wired the Chamber of Commerce in Concord, Mass. this afternoon and asked if they knew of any firm with any available. Thought perhaps someone had some in refrigeration. So far have not had a reply and if they cannot locate any am going to wire the Welch grape juice people, as their grape juice is made of concord grapes…”
R2. 1/1/36 Husband’s letter to EC:
…, Texas
Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce:
We received your letter and are glad to know that you are taking a personal interest in our case. Of course my sister, Mrs. [1100] assured us of your personal interests, but not having heard from you other than thru the readings, I supposed that it was over enthusiasm on her part, however, we are just as enthusiastic as she is, and are eager to follow instructions to the letter; but we are handicapped in not being able to have a nurse. Outside of the doctors visits we have to depend on our boys (who go to school) and a negro housegirl, of which we have to hire a different one every week or so, to administer to Mrs. [1045]‘s needs.
We realize that Mrs. [1045] is in a very serious condition and needs all the attention possible, and it will be hard to report her condition to you every few days unless I just say that she seems about the same. The doctor says that her general condition is better, that her back is firmer and better, that her blood supply is increasing, but specific conditions still exist and are hard to determine whether or not there are any improvement. Namely: Stomach very sore, with 5 to 8 stools per day, very soupy or spongy with mucous. Unable to take fruit juices as prescribed - but today procured some pure Concord grape juice (pasteurized) that does not seem to upset her stomach.
Throat: Larynx inflamed and throat sore and hoarse. This condition caused coughing spells that racked her body and lungs so, that the doctor becoming alarmed, for fear of hemorrhage, administered “Oil of Almonds” to the larynx which gives temporary relief. Advise as to the use of this oil.
Rest: She does not rest at all at night - she sleeps not more than 30 minutes at a time and then lies awake, dozes off again for 30 minutes or so and then awakes again, this condition continues through the night and then no or very little sleep during the day. While she was under treatment of “M.D.’s” they gave her “Bromides” which upset her stomach, and did more harm than good, and never produced sleep.
I think this report covers her condition, so I will close hoping to hear from you occasionally.
Wishing you and yours a very happy and prosperous coming year, I am
Very truly yours, [1745]
R3. 1/10/36 EC’s letter to [1745]:
Dear Mr. [1745]:
Thanks for yours of the 1st, and for giving the report as you have - think I can have a fellow feeling for you, Mr. [1745], for as I told you before just such a condition as your wife has is the same my wife had some years ago and was the first thing to convince me there might be something in the suggestions given in these readings, it is hard for anyone that has never met another to even imagine any one giving information of value for some one they have never seen and too that one not knowing what is being said at the time, but suppose Mrs. [1100] has explained all that to you. That the Dr. feels Mrs. [1045]‘s gen [general] condition is better is at least hopeful, for the trouble as I have experienced it is a very insidious condition one hard to deal with, and when the patient is the most hopeful she may be at her worst, but assure you my interest is just to be of help if possible and if you were to have a reading every week or so it would not be too much and please don’t think I am trying to run up a bill on you or any one else just want to try and help if possible, so if you would have the Dr. write me and let him submit the questions from week to week we might get the cooperation in that way that might do a lot of good, we have had some very serious conditions of this nature during the last 35 years that I have been doing this work and many, many of them have testified they have gotten help. So suppose you suggest this to the Dr. I don’t want to presume on my part nor presume as to telling the Dr. what he should do, but just want to help if possible.
And you write also when ever you have the opportunity for you seeing her from day to day may be able to see something the Dr. does not.
Hoping then for the best and trusting that I may be privileged to be the channel for a great deal of good for your wife.
With kindest regards to you and yours,
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce
