This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 17th day of January, 1936, in accordance with request made by the husband - Mr. [1745], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Hugh Lynn Cayce.]
Time of Reading 4:15 to 4:20 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Texas. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, [1045] - as yet.
-
Conditions are rather serious.
-
As we find, it would be well to give the Animated Ash each day, with the Violet Ray immediately following same - for a minute, minute and a half; not longer.
-
Do not overtax the body.
-
We would prepare a solution by dissolving five (5) grains of Calcidin in three (3) ounces of distilled water. Keep same warm and covered. Every hour or hour and a half give half to a teaspoonful, until there is the full iodine reaction.
-
We would keep the feet warmer. Massage them some, that the circulation may be kept.
-
And, as we find, these offer in the present the greater chances for the reduction of the fever, the easing of the tenseness in the lung - and prevention of breaking of tissue. This may not hold; but these offer the greater opportunities - now.
-
We are through for the present.

Sunday Night
Dear Mr. Cayce:
We received your wire, and started with the Calcidin Saturday morning - By night she had some relief - This AM she had 100.2 degree temperature - But tonight her temp. is rising again and her breathing is becoming painful again - and today she had difficulty in voiding urine - I don’t know whether or not it was due to the Calcidin solution.
We are unable to learn from druggist just what or when full iodine reaction occurs, and don’t know whether to give more than the 3 ounces of the solution or not - one druggist assured me there was no danger in taking too much as the solution was not poisonous or harmful.
We are very anxious to have you keep in touch with us each week and to direct the treatment through your readings - and each Sunday we will send you a report on her condition - or rather you can select any day of the week to give this reading and not wait for our report. She is a very very sick person at this time, but tomorrow morning I’ll have another 5 grains of Calcidin dissolved in 3 oz. distilled water and continue on with this treatment until I hear from you. Enclosed please find letter from Dr. McBride as to Mrs. [1045]‘s condition as he see’s it.
With kind regards and best wishes, I am
Very truly yours, [1745]
Mr. Cayce do you really think I am going to get well? [1045]
R2. 1/19/36 Dr. McBride’s letter to EC:
Sunday
Dear Mr. Cayce:
Thanks for your commendations upon our work with Mrs. [1045]. We have tried to follow the suggestions as faithfully as possible.
As to Mrs. [1045]‘s condition.
Her general appearance is very much better.
She does not have the terrible paroxysms of coughing which used to rack her body at night and in the morning.
We have stopped the hemorrhoidal bleeding which was depleting her vitality to a marked degree.
The abdominal pain of which she used to complain so bitterly has been much improved though she still maintains that there is some soreness in the Hepatic flexure of the colon.
She does not complain as much as much of soreness in her larynx - and her voice is not so husky.
HOWEVER her temperature still remains high - almost every day over 100.5 degrees and most days about 101 degrees & some times reaching 103 degrees F.
She does not rest - nor sleep and one hesitates to recommend opiates, and she is still extremely weak.
The problems that face us now in her case seem to be mainly two. Rest and nourishment.
If we can obtain rest for her and adequate nourishment, I can see no reason why she should not proceed to complete recovery.
The only difficulty in obtaining nourishment for her is that she cannot tolerate anything but an extremely bland and low residue diet.
Yours respectfully, Julius McBride D.O.
