This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 22nd day of January, 1936, in accordance with request made by the husband - Mr. [1745], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., and by his sister, Mr. [1100].

Time of Reading 4:05 to 4:10 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Texas. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes, we have the body here; this we have had before.

2. As we find, some conditions show an improvement. We would not let up on the use of the Ash and the Lights, or upon the use of the Calcidin - taken still in the manner that has been indicated.

3. We would be mindful that there are the proper eliminations kept as near as possible.

4. For the assimilations, we find that beef juices sipped every few minutes (not drunk, but sipped), with whole wheat wafers, would be helpful; as also would the Arrowroot Biscuit, or Popcorn Wafers, or the varied forms of Junket.

5. And we would procure, as soon as possible, the Yogurt as prepared in the tablet form from Kellogg Sanitarium. This would prevent, in its activity through the system, the colon and through the intestinal tract, the formation of bacilli by the non-activity of the lactic forces through the eliminating channels.

6. Keep up the rest of those things indicated. Do that.

7. (Q) How may the body have more rest? (A) We would use the Radio-Active Appliance. Keep the anodes clear. Keep the attachments very secure, plenty of ice; but give this for an hour or two hours at a time, each day, preferably at the periods when the body DESIRES to rest. Attach same on opposite extremities, to be sure.

And a gentle massage at the time for rest, even with the Appliance attached, will aid the body in being rested from lying so long, or from the few positions in which it is able to move itself.

8. We are through for the present.

R1. 1/24/36 EC’s letter to Mr. [1745]:

Dear Mr. [1745]:-

I appreciate your letter of the 19th, as well as your being able to get Dr. McBride to write; and I trust that we may indeed be of real help to Mrs. [1045].

As I told you before, we’ve had a number of cases that were evidently just as serious as Mrs. [1045]‘s case; and where we have been able to obtain the wholehearted cooperation of the physician in charge, most wonderful results have come.

Of course, we never know; we cannot promise anything. We can only hope and pray that the applications suggested will prove to be just that needed to enable the divine within to awaken the constructive forces to activity within the body. For, after all, we know that the REAL healing - the only healing - must come from within. The outward applications are merely aids, or means used to bring the awakening - in all the vital cell forces, such as to renew and rebuild the body.

Please let us hear every week, as you suggest, and we will be glad to check up on the condition each time we hear from you.

R2. 1/25/36 Mrs. [1100]‘s letter: “The copy of the last check reading came today and I am so happy that some improvement has been shown in my sister-in-law’s condition and I know you are, also. The enclosed check will take care of the RAA and the 2 check readings… Please have Gladys at the next writing to them, include the ingredients for massage to prevent bed-sores, or have the question asked at the next check reading…”

R3. 1/26/36 Dr. McBride’s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Thanks for your reading which came a day or so ago. Mrs. [1045] continues to improve every way except in strength. Her temperature has not risen to the same degree that it has been doing, and moreover the calcidin has been a decided success.

If we can get Mrs. [1045] to rest - and be able to assimilate nourishment she will undoubtedly continue to make progress.

However, the condition is still very serious in my judgement. Even such a thing as a strip of crisp bacon throws her into a paroxysm of abdominal pain which lasts for days. Of course we have warned her against this sort of food in the future.

One does not understand the use of the Radioactive machine, but doubtless instructions will accompany it. We will use it as conscientiously as possible. The problems which confront us is in dealing with Mrs. [1045] remain.

1. Her temperature. 2. Her inability to rest. 3. Her inability to eat.

R4. 1/26/36 Husband’s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce:

There is nothing that I can add to Dr. McBride’s letter with the exception of the varying of her temperature - at present, 5:30 p.m., she has 103 degrees, this probably will come down soon, and then rise again. She is in a very depressing mood this afternoon, too weak or sick to take interest in anything.

Tomorrow, as soon as I can get P.O. Money Order, I am going to send for the Radio Active Appliance, which I hope to receive before the end of this coming week.

I hope at next reading some decided improvements can be seen, and that she will soon be on the road to recovery.

Her treatment now consists Carbon Ash, ultra-violet rays - very few Osteopathic manipulations - Oil of sweet Almonds applied to larynx, vapor from Apple Brandy - vapor from Oil of Pine needles - 1/2 teaspoonful of calcidin sol. every 1 1/2 hours (she complains this giving her headaches, so will let up on this until tomorrow a.m.)
