This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 5th day of February, 1936, in accordance with request made by the husband - Mr. [1745], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., also by the sister-in-law, Mrs. [1100].
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 11:40 to 11:45 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Tex. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes. While we find conditions still disturbing, there are those tendencies for an improvement in many respects.
-
While there have been changes suggested, and these in part (not in whole) have been made, we would not forget much of those things that have been indicated in the first - for changes to be wrought in the general physical activities for the body; as in these:
-
We find that the crushed grapes would still be well. Also we find that the juice of same would be most helpful to the body as a drink; but this should be taken in sips and not in gulps nor swallows.
-
We would be more consistent with the use of the inhalations from the pure apple brandy in a charred container, inhaling the gas off of same. This will stimulate not only the appetite but will make for a helpfulness in the lungs and in the throat and in the general coordination between the circulatory forces of the lungs and liver and kidneys; also making for a greater strength for the body itself. Even a whiff two, three, four times a day will be found most helpful.
-
Keep the activities of the iodine and calcium (in the Calcidin); for these strengthen, of course, and add the abilities to the body for the better blood supply. However, this can be OVERDONE, to be sure; UNLESS there is kept - through the manipulative forces - an activity that will add, as it were, the necessary movements or activities of the body.
-
In giving the manipulative or osteopathic treatments and adjustments, then, let these in a greater part take the place of the physical or bodily exercises; that are, of course, so much needed when possible.
-
The use of the Ash with the ultra-violet will continue to make for a strengthening condition, by the releasing of oxygen in the system through the very active forces of these.
-
Keep ALL of these, in these directions.
-
More of the beef juice would be well. Do not put ANY fat, for this becomes hard upon the stomach. There has been allowed a little of this, through the tendons being left in same. Preferably use round steak or rump steak. This should be diced and put in a jar with NO water, NO FATS; almost sealed, and put on in either a double boiler or in a boiler (in the glass jar, you see), with a cloth or something to prevent the cracking of same. And ONLY use the JUICES that come from boiling this from two, three to four hours! The juice may be seasoned with a little salt to make it more palatable, but give in sips often - rather than in quantities. It will be very strengthening. It may be taken with the whole wheat crackers or toasted brown bread, or whole wheat bread.
-
Occasionally the WHOLE WHEAT cereal cooked for at least three to four hours, will be strengthening; but give only a tiny bit. This carries those vitamins necessary for combating the distressed conditions produced by strains upon the system.
-
Tomato juice in moderation may be taken; just little sips, will be most helpful. Preferably not just the canned juice, but the juice taken from the canned tomatoes - and not those canned with any preservative. Libby’s is a good brand.
-
Do these.
-
We are through with this reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 2/16/36 Dr. McBrides’s letter to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce:
Thanks for your nice letter last week regarding Mrs. [1045]. As according to your reading we had failed to give her osteopathic treatment we resumed these. However, the next day she had a sharp rise in temperature. This is of course an unfavorable sign, whereupon we decided to leave off the ultra violet for a day or two to see whether it was too much of a metabolic stimulant for her to take.
Since then her temperature has fallen to 100.4 - 100.6 and this is so much of an improvement that we are all much heartened by it.
She rests better, complains of less pain & is generally better.
However, since you have allowed me some leeway in handling the case I have found it necessary to forbid her to eat much roughage, as it invariably causes an exacerbation of her colitis.
The Calcidin continues to help, and we have further continued our effort to help her larynx. The last thing we have tried instillations of Chaulmoogna oil - according to Jackson & Cootes. Apparently it has helped.
Again we want to thank you for your excellent suggestions - and hope that we can follow them as closely as possible.
Yours sincerely, Julius McBride D.O.
R2. 2/16/36 Husband’s letter to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce:
You can see from Dr. McBride’s enclosed letter just what we are doing and Mrs. [1045]‘s response to treatment.
However I would like to state she complains of her stomach condition. Now you recommend in your readings fruit juices and whole wheat bread and whole wheat cereal. Now she can take none of these without excessive loose bowels severe pains and high temperature. Now that is the reason these three things were left out of her diet. However, if you think this condition is a means to a favorable end, she will try to partake of these things and trust that the ill effects will gradually become lessened until her stomach is in a normal condition - (Advise) -
We have not as yet received the Radio-Active Appliance - but are expecting it daily. Hope it reaches here soon.
I have not been able to procure “yogart” tablets locally nor learn where Kellogg Sanitarium is located. I am going to write tonight and address letter to Battle Creek, Mich., trusting it is located in connection with the breakfast food plant.
With best wishes for you and yours, I am
Very truly yours [1745]
