This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day of March, 1936, in accordance with request made by the husband - Mr. [1745], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 11:35 to 11:45 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Texas. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, [1045]. And, as we find, while conditions are still very serious, if there is the close adherence to those suggestions that have been made, there should be response yet in the physical forces of the body.
-
While the strength and the vitality and the resistances are low, if the diet is followed that will be the more easily assimilated, we find that building influences will be created - as we have indicated. NONE of the foods should be in great quantities, but the liquid and semi-liquid diet - the beef juice formed in the manner indicated; and these sipped a little now and then, three, four, five times a day, is much preferable to giving quantities at a stipulated time.
-
The alcohol rubs that we have indicated should be given; not the ordinary RUB alcohol nor the wood, but the pure GRAIN alcohol. The absorption by the body of this is much preferable to injections or to taking same internally in the system; and especially if same is massaged where the emunctories and the lymph come closer to the surface it will be the more easily absorbed and tend to PREVENT temperature - while the injections would tend to raise temperature in the combative influence as would be given.
-
Use the inhalants as indicated from the gases from the charred keg of pure apple brandy; these will make for a clearing of the head and the inflammation in the throat, and - as we find - improvements in the general condition.
-
The calcium and iodine through the use of the Calcidin would be well to continue; this dissolved and SIPPED. This taken frequently, every few hours or every HOUR if a small quantity is taken, is much preferable to a spoonful; and is true in the diet as well as in stimulations.
-
The massage and corrections are still helpful for the body.
-
The use of the Appliance as indicated will bring REST, IF the applications are kept in the manner as indicated. CLEAN when attached to the body, and keep in contact with the wrist, the ankle. Have it charged or COOLED when or before it is attached; that is, prepare same for fifteen to twenty minutes before it is to be attached to the body, and put on body for an hour or hour and a half two to three times a day.
-
The Yogurt in its preparation may make for the greater absorbing influences through the intestinal system, and with the general inactivity keep the coordinations of activities between the circulatory forces of the liver, the spleen, the pancreas, the lungs, the kidneys, more in order. For from such disturbances the BREAKING DOWN of the katabolism becomes the DESTRUCTIVE force in ANY condition of this nature.
-
Read for questions.
-
(Q) Please advise regarding the use of Sodium Amytol as advised by doctor? (A) This may be resorted to in emergencies, but if the Appliance is used PROPERLY this is MUCH more effective and we would not have the reactions that are as detrimental as the giving of such properties into the system.

We are through with this reading.

R1. 3/26/36 Husband’s letter to EC:
…, Texas
Dear Mr. Cayce:
We received your reading Sunday night and got started on it Monday morning. I certainly am happy that my sister (Mrs. [1100]) came and straightened things out - for she saw, as things were going, Mrs. [1045] was steadily getting worse. However since starting and acting on the Information contained in your reading I BELIEVE she has reached the turning point and is going to improve. She appears to feel better. Her temperature does not go as high as formerly; the throat, although very sore and swollen inside, does not seem to restrict her breathing as much.
We are very anxious for you to take the lead and direct the treatment in this case - Dr. McBride says that he is not going to use his judgement any more: that he is going to cooperate in doing only as he is told. As we asked for a review of the case for a new beginning in the last letter, he was at a loss how to interpret the term “corrections”. He finally decided that they were to include the Ultra Violet Ray.
We are very anxious that we follow the diet suggestions. So I am going to ask that you write me a menu to follow, especially as to SEMI liquids. Mrs. [1100] thinks that Mrs. Cayce will be glad to get this up for me. (Mrs. [1100] left here for Detroit yesterday, and is probably near home by this time). Any personal information or suggestions that you can offer (other than the readings) will be greatly appreciated. The Calcidin solution causes Mrs. [1045] to become dizzy. There’s no danger of taking too much?
With the best of wishes for you and yours, I am
Very truly yours, [1745]
R2. 3/30/36 Mrs. [1100]‘s letter: “First, I want to thank you for that very kind letter written to […] which I read to my sister-in-law (all except the part about the doctor saying he considered hers a hopeless case) and my brother took it to Dr. McBride. I believe, it has been the doctor’s fault that the suggestions have not been carried out but of course, we cannot blame one when they do not understand or know how necessary it is to follow the suggestions to the letter.
“Really my sister-in-law was eating food with a temperature ranging from 101 to 103 and over that a well person could not digest and of course I was ‘flabergasted’ whatever that means. I watched very closely and am sure it was the food which was causing the high temperatures and setbacks. For 2 or 3 days before I left, the diet had been practically correct as far as I knew and she appeared much better and stronger. The charred keg wasn’t rigged up correctly but I didn’t know exactly how it should be but since I got home, [470] outlined it in detail and I sent the sketch to them by special air mail, so now I believe they are straightened out and I believe they realize the necessity of adhering to the diet. They have a lovely little old lady caring for her who is very efficient and very desirous of following the readings to the best of her ability…”
[GD’s note: Of course above letter was not rec’d until after reading 1045-10 was given on 3/31/36.]
