This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 22nd day of September, 1937, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [1073], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]

Time of Reading 4:00 to 4:10 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Michigan. (Physical Suggestion)

  1. EC: Yes, we have the body, [1073]; this we have had before.

  2. As we find, the acute conditions that have arisen - and that cause distress with the bladder, with the nerve reactions of the mucous membranes and the activity of the sympathetic nerve system with same - arise from a general nervous condition.

  3. As these organs and the glands that work with the functioning of the organs of the sensory system are, as it were, on that tension between the nerves of the cerebrospinal and the reaction of the nerves of the sensory organism, these have become - under the period of the activities of the body and of the general condition - rather supersensitive.

  4. Then these, as we find, would be the better applications for the body in the present:

  5. We would have at least twelve to fourteen general deep OSTEOPATHIC treatments, with special reference to the segments in the upper dorsal and through the cervical area, and the LIFTING of the coccyx and ADJUSTMENTS in the areas about the sacral plexus, or the 4th lumbar and especially the FEET. When all of these are made we will find we will relieve the tension on the system. We would have these done about twice a week, for ten, twelve or fourteen such treatments, straight in a row; then leave them off. It necessary after a month or six weeks, do this all over again - including the other applications which we will here suggest.

  6. Gentle massages would be well with a compound of an equal combination of Mutton Suet, Spirits of Turpentine and Spirits of Camphor over the lower portion of the abdomen; then we would soak two to three thicknesses of flannel and lay across the area just below the kidneys. The kidneys as we find are only sympathetically affected from the conditions in the folds of the lower portion or the anus, or in the sphincter centers; where there are those tendencies for accumulations by the very strain and the condition owing to the nerve tension. Hence the necessity of the osteopathic adjustments and treatments to the feet or the lower limbs, as indicated.

  7. For the local condition there (in the folds of the anus), use Tim.

  8. The applications of the flannel dipped in the compound or mixture should be heated; not hot but warm, so that they are at least a bit above body temperature, and thus will open the pores and will absorb much of same, see?

  9. Take internally the Watermelon Seed Tea, made in this manner: Crush about a tablespoonful of Watermelon Seed and put in a pint of water; steep as one would tea, or pour boiling water over same and let stand until cool enough to be taken. Then it may be strained off and kept, or be made to use for at least two days. Then leave it off for two or three days, then take again for a couple of days. That is, use about half the quantity each day, or half a pint - but only about a tablespoonful at a dose, several times during the day.

  10. This as we find will make for corrections, and with the adjustments and with the changes for the body will correct many of those disturbances; as the nervousness, the condition in the throat, much of the condition in the head and through the soft tissue; for all of these will be ridded from the system if the proper adjustments or treatments osteopathically are made.

  11. But as we find, for the nasal passages and throat it would be well to use a gargle or spray (or both) of the weakened solution of Atomidine. This should NOT be used in a metal spray, but if it is used in a metal spray and after the use each time it is put in the water and boiled (that is, the nozzle or the whole of the spray except, of course, the bulb), this would be alright; but these precautions should be taken. As to the strength of the solution, use a teaspoonful of the commercial strength Atomidine to two ounces of Distilled Water. Have it warm, not hot, to use as a spray or a gargle. This will prevent the body from taking cold, will make for a removal of the irritation in throat and nasal passages which have at times caused and do at times cause disturbances, from the nervous condition.

  12. In the matter of the diet: Do not eat too much sweets. Do not take any alcoholic drinks. Light wines may be taken. Wine as a food would be well. Champagne or other wines that are light wines (though not necessarily just white wines) would be very well. Take same rather in the afternoon with black or brown bread. Two ounces each day would not be too much.

  13. Ready for questions.

  14. We are through with this Reading.
