This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 11th day of March, 1936, in accordance with request made by the husband - Mr. […], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 3:30 to 3:40 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, New Jersey. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here.
-
There are improvements indicated in the general physical forces of the body; as better equilibrium is being established in the coordination between the reflexes of the sensory forces of the body and the sympathetic and cerebrospinal reactions.
-
As we find, those applications or injections that HAVE been used for the nasal passages are still necessary. And even when those solutions are used that we have indicated for taking the place of these (that CREATE normalcy - the new solutions - through their very activity upon the system), it will be necessary to continue such injections occasionally but gradually diluting the EFFECT of the cocaine reaction in the system itself.
-
As these injections are in the nature of a stimuli that produces or induces reactions that are habit-forming, or required, it will be necessary that their reduction from the system be partially psychological as well as pathological.
-
We would continue the use of the vibratory forces from the massage and adjustments osteopathically, in the upper cervical and particularly through the upper dorsal and coordinating the general system; until the system responds more and more to normalcy.
-
In preparing a spray of the Mono-icthyol, or mononized Icthyol, we would use ten (10) parts of the Icthyol to one (1) part of the Ammonium. And as the Ammonia in its very nature is an alkaline, and FORMS most in the gaseous form, HEAT BOTH to their boiling point without boiling BEFORE ADDING! Hence we would have a different type of an application when it is reduced by water AND alcohol AS a spray. For while Ammonium is soluble in water and Icthyol soluble in the alcohol, these prepared in the manner indicated may be cut or reduced by a very much weakened solution of alcohol - grain alcohol, of course. And in this manner it may be used for this body, as we find.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What proportion of alcohol and water to the Icthyol and Ammonia, after it is combined as indicated? (A) This would come one (1) to forty (40). The first, one (1) to ten (10). In the reduction, one (1) to forty (40); that these may be applicable in a spray, and may be yet effective in their activity upon the system.
And, as indicated, the injections will have to be GRADUALLY reduced, both as to their strength and as to periods - for the very cause or reason shown.
- We are through with this reading.

R2. 5/9/36 Husband’s letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce, Association for Research and Enlightenment, Inc. Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I should have written you long ago following second reading for Mrs. [1118] at which time you gave us new directions for preparing Icthyol-Ammonia solution. Hope you will pardon my seeming lack of courtesy but assure you it was due entirely to the fact that at this time of the year I have hardly a minute from my work.
The solution was prepared as directed but upon use seemed to aggravate the nasal membranes to further enlargement. I then cut it in half making the dilution 1 to 80 but the results were about the same. Another cut was made but although Mrs. [1118] worked with it faithfully no progress can be reported, in fact since she stopped using it about a week ago the nose seems somewhat improved.
Her general physical condition seems to be improving under osteopathy and we are praying that sufficient drainage can be brought about so that eventual relief from the nasal swelling will result. Dr. Gillis [Alfred G. Gillis, D.O.] the osteopath who is working on the case suggested trying Mono P Chlorophenol on the nasal membranes. Have done so for two days and find it the first thing Mrs. [1118] has ever been able to use without experiencing further suffering.
I am enclosing check for three dollars to cover my second quarter membership dues with every wish for your continued success in the wonderful work you are doing.
Very truly yours, […] [[1118]‘s husband]
R3. 10/36 Husband [..]‘s letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce:
Once again I write you hoping and praying that you can bring some help for my dear wife. You have been so kind in the past and I should have written you before but it seems that life has heaped so many burdens around us that I can no longer keep up with things.
Mrs. [1118] does not seem to improve. A few days or hours at a time she will have some slight relief only to be followed by closing of the nasal membranes, filling of the head cavities and of course terrific pain. In August we found that a large cyst was growing in the roof of her mouth. An operation was performed and this removed. It was found to be tied into the floor of the right nostril and we hoped it might have been the cause of continuous reinfection. She came thru the actual operation nicely but there seems to have been no improvement whatever from this work. She is naturally not over the effects of such an operation but the fact that no improvement has been obtained in the nasal condition is a terrible disappointment to both of us.
Some of the doctors have suggested that we take her away, seeking another climate. The expense of such a move would be almost more than we could stand but I would willingly go thru anything if it would help her. Another drawback would be the problem of how to keep her nasal membranes shrunken while traveling and also after reaching a destination unless a miracle was immediately performed enabling her to breath. I mention this for you have record of what the doctors have prescribed for the purpose of shrinking her nasal membranes and in some other locality, doctors not understanding her case might not be sympathetic to her need.
I am enclosing check for
16 to cover my Association dues for balance of year and10 of this is to cover another reading for Mrs. [1118]. I pray God you may be able to bring us some light and that with it may be a way to keep her nose open. This in itself would be the greatest help to her both physically and mentally.Sincerely, […] [[1118]‘s husband]
