This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 27th day of October, 1936, in accordance with request made by the husband - Mr. […], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 3:30 to 3:45 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, New Jersey. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1118], this we have had before.
-
As we find, changes are indicated in the general conditions. While the specific disturbances are still those that make for the incapacity of breathing through nasal passage, owing to the inflammatory conditions, the conditions in some respects show an improvement; that is, in an opportunity for a change for the better - as we would find.
-
The osteopathic manipulations should be more specific in the upper dorsal, through the cervical and especially about the 3rd cervical to the ganglia that make for a plexus about the neck to the vagus center. This will, if given properly, tend to drain from the nasal passages through the eliminations of the system.
-
To gain relief in the present, or immediate, as we would find, we would combine in this way and manner, these:
To 1/2 ounce of 85% GRAIN Alcohol, add:
Distilled Water…1 ounce, Oil of Eucalyptus…10 minims.
Put together 2 minims Rectified Oil of Turp and 20 minims Compound Tincture of Benzoin and add these to the Alcohol and Eucalyptol.
-
Use as a spray, for the throat, for the nasal passages. This may be done every two hours. This should allay and not produce irritation.
-
Do that, as we find, for the present disturbance.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Can anything be done to keep her nose open, so she may breathe? (A) As we would find, this spray in the present, with the proper osteopathic manipulations should keep this open.
The reinfection arises from this overflow of impulse through the condition which has existed there, as localized. Now if these through osteopathic manipulations are cut off in the upper dorsal and specifically in the cervical and in those centers from the 3rd cervical, with the local application, it will be better.
To change climatic conditions would be more effective; such as Arizona. This we find, and especially about Casa Grande or Tucson, or the like.
-
(Q) How may her nose be kept open while traveling and after reaching destination, if change is made? (A) As indicated, using the spray the more often.
-
(Q) Would you suggest having the same osteopath, or would you suggest another? (A) If these will be applied in the way and manner as has been indicated, to set up drainages FROM the head, any may apply same if they will - and the same.
-
(Q) How often should these be given? (A) Every day.
-
(Q) Have the former osteopathic treatments been correct? (A) At times. At others they were not so good.
-
(Q) Why did the preparation of the Icthyol-Ammonia solution seem to aggravate the nasal membranes to further enlargement? (A) This was owing to the non-activity of the Icthyol over the quantity of the Ammonia in same. The Icthyol alone with the Alcohol and it heated and diluted would be better than the use of it with the way and manner it has been prepared.
-
(Q) Is the Mono P Chlorophenol better? (A) Well, not in the present, as we find. This combination as indicated would be the most or more helpful.
-
(Q) Is there anything further we can do to relieve her suffering? (A) Necessitate to keep the body relaxed. When it necessitates the use of anything else, use hypnotics rather than narcotics.
-
We are through for the present.

R1. 11/8/36 Husband […]‘s letter:
Mr. Edgar Cayce, Association for Research & Enlightenment, Inc. Virginia Beach, Virginia
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I have delayed writing you since receipt of information secured at reading on 10/27/36 until I could report something specific concerning Mrs. [1118].
The solution for spraying the nose was prepared immediately and used as directed. I sincerely wish I could say that it had helped her but the results were anything but encouraging. Not only did it set up extreme soreness from which she is still suffering, but except for a shrinkage lasting only about five minutes after application, swelling of the membrane was more pronounced. As to the Osteopathic treatments her back is so sore that working on her even twice a week has been difficult.
Since I wrote you for the last reading I was directed to a Divine Healer in Philadelphia whom I at once visited. His record is most amazing, having effected many cures after patients have been given up as incurable. One of the most remarkable cases is that of a man known to a Doctor friend of mine. This party for a number of years sat helpless in a chair with a supposed heart ailment. Last December he was carried to this Divine Healer who told them that the cause of his condition lay in the right kidney and that he could be cured. To sum up his efforts this man was completely cured by April first and went back to work as a mechanic for the Pennsylvania Railroad Company in Philadelphia where he is still on the job.
Without seeing Mrs. [1118], he told me that she had fallen out of a haystack when a child, bending the tip of her spine and that this was the cause of the entire trouble. I of course knew nothing of such a fall but upon returning home and checking this with my wife and her mother found that she had fallen from a haystack when eight years old. At that time they thought the total of her injuries was a sprained ankle. Following his further meditation on her case he told me that she could be restored to health.
I have since taken Mrs. [1118], to see him twice and her response to his efforts is most encouraging. We have therefore decided to dispense with the Osteopathic treatments, place our trust absolutely in God and pray that thru the ministrations of the Divine Healer (whom we can contact daily if necessary) her health may be restored and she may breathe normally again.
Thank you for all of the help you have tried to bring us. Thought you would be interested in learning of the work of this man in Philadelphia. His name is George Richardson and he lives at 5850 Cedar Avenue, Philadelphia, Pa.
Sincerely, […]
R2. 12/9/36 EC’s letter to [1118]‘s husband, […]:
Dear Mr. […]
Yours of Nov 8th came while I was away, in N.Y. you am sure had notice, as had hoped to see you while up that way. Spent several weeks there and have just returned, as drove down other day noticed road we were on had sign only few miles to … had not my son been feeling so bad from cold think would have drove over and undertaken to try and find you. Sorry indeed that Mrs. [1118] is having so much trouble, feel very sure there must have been something wrong in the manner the compound was put together for that spray. A few times have had such a time in getting them put together as is intended, for make a lot of difference. But am so happy for you and she that you have gotten help in Dr. Richardson. Have heard from some one else of his work, it is just fine and hope now you will be able to get all of the trouble removed.
Would appreciate it if you will let me know how she improves for feel a real interest in each case. Know no one person has it all, for God does not manifest in the rose along but the Lily and the gypsum as well. May the help that has come continue in such measures that Mrs. [1118] will be entirely relieved of her trouble permanently.
Thanks very much and will appreciate if you will let me hear from time to time.
With all good wishes
Sincerely Edgar Cayce
