Protestant) This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 30th day of August, 1941, in accordance with request made by the self - Mr. [1151], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 4:00 to 4:35 P. M. Eastern Daylight Saving Time. N.Y. City.

1. GC: You will have before you the entity [1151], present in this room. You will give him an account of his progress in his business and personal affairs as they relate to his life’s purposes. You will answer the questions, as clearly and definitely as possible.

2. EC: Yes, we have the enquiring mind, [1151]; this we have had before.

3. The progress that is being made may well be described in the vision which occurs here. Conditions have been questionable. Many groups have been upset. [See EC’s dream [1151-29, Par. R1] which he related to us on awaking.]

4. There are the two influences as may be comparable to those bedecked in armor of old; the white charger with the rider well equipped and bedecked in black and gold; then the red charger with the rider bedecked in the blue and white of truth.

5. This may be interpreted in that they each represent the activities which are apparent in the experiences of the entity, in which there are those influences darkening - in a manner - to the general welfare, and appearing in white but blacks and the shadows; yet fringed with promises of the gold. Then there is the appearing of truth, with red as the leading influence - yet with the spirit of truth, of purity, of that consciousness of the universal nature, as the directing influence.

6. Also this may be interpreted in that there are the needs for the entity to be in preparation for those influences which must shortly come to pass, when peace is again reckoned as a possibility; and there is the seeking for those channels, ways, means or manners in which all men must share with the products of their labors in a manner commensurate with the efforts applied by each individual.

7. For, as the black indicates, it is the gold that is in command - yet the piercing influence of fear, even of red - as it carries those influences of white and blue, those forces as of truth, love, brotherhood of man and Fatherhood of God - must become even as the two-edged sword, dividing joint and marrow; cutting - to be sure - but that there may indeed be proclaimed, “I AM MY BROTHER’S KEEPER.”

8. The efforts of the entity, then, have been, are, in meeting just those characters of influences that are between capital and labor, that are between what may be called the INS and the OUTS.

9. These are periods of testing. The entity is measuring up. Persuade - not by other than right for Right’s sake, but persuade - those in authority, those in power, to see the needs more and more for justice to all, love, mercy, grace, to be the foundation upon which lives are built, homes are maintained, nations arise to position of authority. This abused, this misused - all must suffer.

10. For again, as He hath given, God is not mocked; whatsoever the man soweth, that must he also reap.

11. Errors are made, judgements are at times misunderstood, but purposes - what are these in the minds and in the hearts of individuals that they harken not?

12. These are the channels, then, along which the entity must continue. For, through the efforts of the entity much may be accomplished when in ‘45 to ‘46 peace again rules in the earth.

13. Much is to be taken into consideration. Keep ahead, in knowing that justice and mercy are the basic principles in dealings with one another, in dealings with groups, in dealings with states and nations. For these are right in the Lord.

14. Ready for questions.

15. (Q) Will removal of Savings Bank Journal offices to Mount Vernon, N.Y., be profitable and sustain its prestige? (A) As we find, where it may lose in some respects greater gains and greater prestige may be attained in others.

16. (Q) Is Richard Baldwin the proper choice as Associate Editor of the Savings Bank Journal? (A) This might be answered in the negative or in the positive and each be correct. As we find, so long as there is the finger of the entity kept upon the pulse of policies, Richard Baldwin will be well. But do not loosen too easily.

17. (Q) Is Arthur Van Stein a good choice as an associate of the entity? (A) Arthur Van Stein in one portion of the field of activity is very well. In some contacts there are differences that would not be well to be entrusted there. But very good in some directions.

18. (Q) Is Januar D. Bove to be depended upon as an associate of the entity in connection with the current sale of Fisher Brothers Company stock from Butlers to New York Bankers? (A) We would find indicated to be trusted, and very good.

19. (Q) Will the aforementioned transaction be satisfactorily concluded on Sept. 8th as planned, with adequate compensation to the entity? (A) By the 12th, yes.

20. (Q) Can the entity do anything further to assure its successful conclusion? (A) Keep all of the ends together, as we find, is all that is needed in the present.

21. (Q) Is this type of business consistent with the entity’s abilities and his life’s work? (A) Consistent so long as it does not interfere with purpose.

22. (Q) Is the plan for organizing the American Enterprise Research, Inc., practical and likely to succeed? (A) At the present time this is practical. A little bit later, in a year or two years, there will be hard sledding. THEN it will be most practical.

23. (Q) Is [1354] the best choice for the Presidency of this organization? (A) This as we find would be very well. Though there will be changes, this would be very well in the beginning.

24. (Q) Is Hugh Richmond the correct choice as treasurer? (A) Very good. VERY good.

25. (Q) Is it to the best interest of this movement for the entity to accept the chairmanship of the Board? (A) This would be very well.

26. (Q) Will Harold G. Parker satisfactorily serve as economic consultant? (A) Up to a certain point. Here we have one of those conditions wherein there are groups that rather control the opinions. Up to a certain point, for the first year, very well.

27. (Q) Can the entity count on this organization giving him an adequate, dependable income? (A) For the next two and a half years, and then hard lines. And then the entity will be awful busy - with peace negotiations. And THEN excellent activity.

28. (Q) Is there any other business activity you can advise to bring the entity such an income? (A) From these sources incomes are rarely considered; but those activities as have been indicated for the entity, in the purposes and in the abilities - there are those in authority in many associations and connections wherein the entity may lend, may wield, may be a great influence in the economic situations that are to arise in this country, as well as in others, during that period of ‘44 and ‘45. Be prepared for it.

29. (Q) Is it to the best interest of the entity and his family that they continue to occupy their home in …? (A) As indicated here before through these channels, there are some very good reasons - and the more so as THESE developments would maintain - that he remain, or that he occupy the home; and yet there are others in which there might be the means or ways for change - and be nearer to security in those activities as regarding national conditions in or near, or in those environs at least, of Washington. For the immediate, and dependant upon the developments then, we would maintain still the better to live in the … home.

30. (Q) How is this possible under prevailing circumstances? (A) These can be handled or changed about - if this is determined to be the better policy. If it is felt, or if it is determined that it would be better to be cleared, then we would change to those environs closer to Washington, D.C.

31. (Q) Do you advise giving up the home to the Metropolitan Life Company at this time? (A) This could be worked out, if it is desired, or if it is determined or felt that it is the best policy to remain there. And as we find, and as indicated before, from some angles it is better; from others, if it can be determined, give it up.

32. (Q) Will financial affairs clear sufficiently within the next two weeks for the entity to bring his family together in the East, and thus pursue a normal family life? (A) Sometime after the 12th - yes, that’s two weeks.

33. (Q) Is it to the best interests of the entity to remove his family to some other location and if so why? (A) Read those things as indicated as to policies, as to conditions and as to places, and as to why.

34. (Q) Would it be in the best interests of the entity to carry out a plan he has for handling his personal affairs which would require his retiring from the Board of the … bank? (A) This might be the better manner; dependent upon the decisions in some of the factors as would lead to the USAGE of the conditions as would arise from such activity.

35. (Q) What effect would such a move have in the present, and in the future, on the entity’s business and his morale? (A) If those processes are carried on in those suggestions as to the formation of the group activity, it would not materially change, see? PROVIDED there are the uses made of the change in the maintaining of a status - as this would allow the entity to do.

36. (Q) Do you advise doing it? (A) If the formation of that organization as would give an outlet for activities is completed in satisfactory manners, do so. If it is not, make other changes to fit. And move closer to Washington, D.C.

37. (Q) Can a decision favorable to the [1266] family be expected from the Ohio Supreme Court in the case of [1266] versus [1265]? (A) As we find there are questions, but there will be a favorable reply to the [1266] estate.

38. (Q) Do you advise [1151] going through bankruptcy? (A) No.

39. (Q) Have you any further advice to give the entity? (A) Weigh well the visions that have been indicated that confront the entity, in the problems that are in the making - of the personal and of the national issues. For these in the way of purposes must not be lost sight of.

40. We are through for the present.

R1. 8/30/41 Dream of Edgar Cayce had during the Reading: I saw a great big white horse, with a man all dressed in armor and in flowing robes but black - fringed around the edges in gold; all very brilliant. As I got up close to the figure I saw that the man was Mr. [1151]. Then I saw another horse coming - a very RED horse. As it came closer I saw that the rider was Mr. [1151], but he had on a white and a blue armor, and there were hordes of people following him! Then as the two horses came together, it seemed that Mr. [1151] disappeared and the two groups clashed. The followers of the first horse were well armed, while the others were not

• yet there were such hordes following the red horse that they seemed to march right through the ranks of the well armed group, though millions were slain while doing so. [See noted in 294-196 Reports.]

R2. 8/31/41 Mr. [1151] obtained a Ck. Physical - See 1151-30.

R3. 9/13/41 Phone request by wife for her Ck. Physical 1158-32: “Mr. [1151] closed the deal yesterday that the Reading [1151-29, Par. 32-A] said would be accomplished by the 12th. Of course, it hasn’t gone through yet, but if everybody lives up to his agreement it will have been closed on the 12th as the Reading said.”

R5. 10/17/41 See 1757-2, Par. 40-A, telling him to “consult again with Cornelius [1848].”

R6. 12/18/41 Letter from Mrs. [1158] to GD: “Please put this Reading [2637] on our account [1151]‘s. I don’t know when we can pay for it, as the Deal which the early Sept. Reading said would come to a satisfactory agreement on or by Sept. 12th was finally concluded in late Nov. leaving Mr. [1151] out of consideration, so that to sue was his only course. This he is doing, but as yet nothing has come of it, and we are running along on (I was going to say) a ‘shoe-string’, but it is more like a ‘fine thread’. However, we believe in God and His Care for His children, so we feel eventually this must come out right.

“In the mean time, it takes heroic patience, which fortunately my husband possesses…”

R7. 5/7/42 Wife [1158]‘s letter ordering the book, A Search for God, for herself and mother, Mrs. [1224]: “The reading we had which assured us last Fall (rather late summer, around Sept. 1st) that we would be able to return to [N.Y.] and set up housekeeping thru the winter there (as the deal which Mr. [1151] had been working on for nearly 10 months would finish up, releasing to him sufficient for his needs) - well, this did not work out at all as one would naturally conclude from the reading. On the assurance it gave we took our family back to [N.Y.]. The deal did go thru but on an entirely different basis than that which Mr. [1151] had worked out and he was not paid one cent for all his work. We had to live thru the Fall heaping up bills, and not until Jan. did he recover anything, which was only a pittance (insufficient to handle our Fall living expenses, and nothing to carry us into the future). But the lawyers advised him to take this fraction of what he was entitled to, by settlement, rather than push his suit against the dishonest parties, as a suit might have taken 6 or 7 years before finally settled, and no telling what would happen in the meantime. So, our ‘going’ is indeed ‘difficult going’, and we are still way behind in our bills for current expenses. However, I do want to know just where we stand with the Association. Enclosed is 12 to be applied against (10) our bill with you and $2 for two of the new books, one for me and one for Mother… Too bad Mrs. [1152] gave up her plan for building [at Va. Beach] but I suppose it is all for the best.”
