GC: You will give the relation of this entity and the universe, and the universal forces; giving the conditions which are as personalities, latent and exhibited in the present life; also the former appearances in the earth plane, giving time, place and the name, and that in each life which built or retarded the development for the entity; giving the abilities of the present entity, that to which it may attain, and how. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: (In going back over years from the present - ” - ‘38 - yes, changes - ‘33 - changing of attitudes - ‘30 - ‘16 - change - ” etc., on back to birth date.)
-
Yes, we are given the records here of that entity now known as or called [1757].
-
The seal for this entity would be most interesting, - with the formation of the pine burr and the growth from same. This should be the cover for a writing of the entity.
-
In giving the interpretation of the records as we find them here for this entity, - though there might be other interpretations, these are chosen with the desire and purpose that this information may be a helpful experience for the entity; enabling the entity to better fulfil the purposes for which it entered this experience.
-
As we find, there are influences innate and manifested. From material aspects, much of the entity’s experience has had to do with conflicts - as between groups or nations. This indicates Mars as an aspect, yet as having been applied in the present as a quieting, rather than an influence for antagonism. This is unusual. Thus the budding of the pine cone.
-
In astrological aspects, then, we find Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn; these as aspects of the entity’s sojourn or passing through.
-
Thus Mars, and Mercury the entity has applied in the material, mental and spiritual forces in the present experience.
-
The aspects as related to Jupiter indicate the universal activities of the entity, as they have been and should be, in relationship to masses of peoples; that is, while the application of the entity’s tenets or abilities would be personal, they would still be of a universal or group or mass nature.
-
This indicates, then, the character of the entity’s abilities as a keeper of records, a keeper of data, or a keeper of activities in which the basic principles are for protective influences; yet the tenets are applied through the entity’s abilities in relation to a philosophy, or a manner of living.
-
These should be a part of the entity’s experience, and would find expression, acceptation and activity among many peoples.
-
In Saturn we find the sudden changes that have been in the experience of the entity, not only from the material but from the mental and spiritual aspects also. This, too, is unusual. For, the entity has used the varied influences as stepping-stones the more oft, and not as stumbling-stones - as most Saturn and Mars individuals do.
-
As to the sojourns in the earth and their influences from the forces manifested through the mental, as well as the latent urges in the characteristics of the individual entity - or the personality manifested in the present:
-
Before this the entity was in the land of the present nativity, during the early settlings of the land, when there were those activities in which the first settlers were lost because of the delaying of influences to bring about the help needed.
-
The journeying towards the interior and in a southernmost direction was in part led by the entity, - then in the name Donald Page.
-
While there were material hardships, the intents and purposes that have been latent and manifested in the present experience were builded through those trials. For, the soul of man manifested in materiality is as spoken of Him, - “Though He were the Son, yet learned He obedience through the things which He suffered.”
-
Hence the entity in that experience learned patience through the things which he suffered. While it brought material and mental distresses, the purposes and desires for protective forces and activities in which the thought of man might be turned to the closer relationship to spiritual aspects, have been latent and manifested in the present experience from that sojourn.
-
Also from that period we find there has come in the early experience of the present the dreams of the entity, the associations with travel, the camping, the knowledge of nature, and of Indians, the activities in the various spheres in relationship to nature, to birds, to animals, to those things having to do with nature or the outdoors. These have been a study, a contemplated activity of the entity in this experience.
-
Before that the entity was in the promised land, during the periods when it was overridden by the Romans, - at the time when the Master walked in the earth.
-
The entity was among the soldiery stationed in portions of the land, and especially in the household of Cornelius; one that knew of, had acquaintance with, had knowledge of the teachings of the Apostle Peter; though the entity itself had been acquainted with the activities of the Master Himself. A part of the entity’s experience was in bringing these activities to the awareness of Cornelius, for a greater interpreting of the tenets and principles and teachings through that period.
-
Hence in the activities of the present sojourn, that as may be sought of interest and help might be through the associations or connections with that entity Cornelius in the present, - whether it be political activities or those having to do with the acquaintanceships in varied forms of activities in the land.
-
The name then was Pharsen. The entity gained through the greater portion, though there were sorrows that brought about the determining factors in relationships to the teachings. For the duties as a soldier and as pertaining to the heart, and as related to the spiritual things, EVENTUALLY brought a unison of purpose with the determining factors - by the changes wrought in the activities in Antioch.
-
Before that the entity was in the Persian and Arabian land, during those periods when there were the establishings of activities in the “city in the hills and the plains.”
-
The entity then was among the leaders with the Persian forces; but coming in association and contact with the leader Uhjltd the entity joined with that activity. Hence the entity became one who kept the records of the varied groups, as there was the establishing of the city in the hills as a commercial center. Yet there were the attempts of the entity to keep the activities of the passerby upon the basis of spiritual as well as material, and with the material activities prompted by the spiritual force of brotherly love and brotherly charity one to another.
-
Then the name was Arbdenel.
-
Before that the entity was in the Egyptian land, when there were those turmoils and trials through the period of the rebellions and the banishment of the Priest.
-
There the entity was set as a guard, or as a protector for and against the Priest as he was sent into banishment. In the close associations through the period of banishment the entity became very closely affiliated, very closely associated with the activities of the Priest.
-
And with the return, the entity began the keeping of the records; not only writing the history of the period of banishment but writing for other groups that were a part of the experience of that era and age; as to how the unifying of purpose in the spiritual forces could and would be made applicable to all forms of human endeavor through the period.
-
The name then was Ab-El-Aar.
-
As to the abilities of the entity in the present:
-
First, too much may not be said as respecting how the entity, though high tempered, has controlled himself. Too much may not be said as respecting how the entity has used circumstance that would be an adversity to others as a means of better comprehending, and of application to those things for greater experience of patience.
-
Know, as He gave, “In patience become ye aware of your souls.”
-
The abilities, then, are in any form in which there is the keeping of records, or of protection for individuals in divers ways or manners, - whether pertaining to the home, to the state or to the nation. These may all be a part of the entity’s experience.
-
The ability as the scribe or the writer is indicated in the present activities of the entity, also the fear of those things that have hindered many hinders the entity from carrying on.
-
Know the way ye choose to go. Know the author of thy ideal. Keep in that way. Then go ahead.
-
Let that light, that hope which has prompted thee oft in thy dealings with others be in the forefront of thy activities, in thy choice of associations, in thy choice of activities in the material plane; and ye will come to that closer walk with Him.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) In manuscript, I have endeavored to outline a plan for operating as a brotherhood, for the purpose of demonstrating the authority of the Divine laws as they work for man’s good, when complied with, by practising the principles of brotherhood. Is the plan, as far as it has been described, in consistence with the law? (A) As has been indicated, this has been an experience of the entity - as it has applied same in relationships to its fellow man; in the experience before this, in the journey from Rome and in the Palestine land; and is in keeping with those tenets, those principles of the Law of One - or brotherhood of man, Fatherhood of God.
Keep to those things, and ye will bring into the consciousness of others that as brings the closer walk with Him.
-
(Q) Can it be made useful as a channel through which the Great Hierarchy may bring good to the world? (A) It may.
-
(Q) Would it be necessary to obtain a charter for operating as described above? (A) Be necessary for obtaining a charter, under not only the local beneficiary but in the ecclesiastical law also.
Keep in that way as has been indicated.
In the setting up of the activities as an order, as a center, choose to consult again with Cornelius [1151].
- We are through for the present.

R1. 7/30/41 Speech on AMERICAN ENTERPRISE given by Milton W. Harrison:
Address by
MILTON W. HARRISON Chairman, Midland Continental Railroad, and Editor and Publisher of the SAVINGS BANK Journal
THIRTY-FOURTH CONVENTION, BROTHERHOOD OF LOCOMOTIVE FIREMEN AND ENGINEMEN
Denver, Colorado July 30, 1941
AMERICAN ENTERPRISE
MR. PRESIDENT, gentleman of the convention, and, I must say, brothers: My message to you today concerns the preservation of the vital principle of free American enterprise. This principle, at first thought, may appear to you vague and intangible. Let us give pause and examine it together. Like all great principles, when thoroughly looked into and understood, it is simple. We are all too human and in our sometimes frantic efforts to solve our daily problems, we lose sight of the few underlying principles which give life meaning. As life goes on and develops, it becomes more complicated too, but these complications need not be a source of unnecessary trouble or despair.
There are only a few principles after all. The trouble is that we too often lose sight of these few principles temporarily and become confused. Do not let me confuse you now. I wish to talk with you about principles and not mere formulas. A story is told of a great oriental potentate who set his particular brain trust of the moment to the problem of devising a saying which would be good on all occasions. After many months of research and deliberation and almost endless discussions they returned to his court and presented him with this formula of magic words: “And this, too, shall pass.”
This maxim explains what I mean by a superficial formula, good on most occasions, but what does it amount to? Nothing at all for practical purposes. To illustrate further the importance of understanding basic principles, take the locomotive as an example. You all know that it has been gadgetized almost beyond belief. If an old timer of the pre-nineties era were to come back today he would be amazed at the never-ending line of improvements and gadgets found on the modern locomotive. There is the mechanical stoker, the superheater, power reverse gear, automatic signaling devices and whatnot. Yet the old timers - and they knew their stuff, too - would not necessarily get lost. They would immediately see through it all; and beginning at the firebox follow the conversion of the energy of the fuel into steam. They would see the same old FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLE of the piston and the crank assisting to convert the energy of the steam into tractive power for the drivers.
Today we are all aware of the tremendous social and economic forces raging in unconfined fury in many parts of the world. As free men of this great republic it is our duty to ourselves, our families and future generations to prepare ourselves to preserve and to defend our institutions. We can do this by vigilant and intelligent adherence to a FEW PRINCIPLES. Knowing these principles, like the engineer knowing the simple steam creation and conversion process which makes the locomotive go, we can also become efficient engineers in the guidance of our own individual and national destiny.
FREE AMERICAN ENTERPRISE
We are all free men matured in the traditions of our pioneering forefathers. If you had to choose the one principle which makes life worthwhile, and without it life unbearable, what would it be? Think for a moment. Ponder that question now. But let me ask you, are you thinking about the “power principle” which makes the locomotive go or the superheater and whatnot gadgets that only help it along? Remember, it is the principle that we want. You know what I am driving at. The principle which I have in mind is the one which built this country, the one which expanded it, the one which maintains it, and the one which will continue to maintain it if we fully understand it, preserve it, and keep it working. This great principle, which is essential to happy American life, is FREE AMERICAN PRINCIPLE.
“Enterprise” has been defined in many ways but we all have a pretty good idea of what the word means. Dictionaries define “enterprise” as an undertaking, an attempt to perform something, to create something, to bring about something. In the background we all instinctively realize when we use the word “enterprise” that there must be power, boldness, originality, daring, spirit, creativeness. “Enterprise” is a part of all of us. It is ONE of the things which MAKES a man. We must guard it carefully and cultivate and use it. We must guard against having our enterprise frustrated by shortsighted social and economic policies. Without enterprise we are not worthy of the name of man. Without enterprise there is no freedom and without freedom there can be no enterprise. As Ruskin said in reference to ENTERPRISE, “YOU enterprised a railroad through the valley, you blasted ITS ROCKS away.”
Picture to yourselves those early pioneers who dreamed a dream and made it come true. They, who built the original railroads, spanned this continent with bands of steel, and helped to make us a great and powerful nation, intimate with two great oceans. You are the direct heirs of those great pioneers. They had the original freedom to build these great roads. Yours is the duty to continue to man them in the same spirit of enterprise. Yours is the duty not only to yourselves, to your families, but to the unlimited posterity of this great country to keep alive and maintain the great tradition of American enterprise.
Without it you will end up slaves; not necessarily with actual chains about your necks. Labor can be the slave victims of inadequate wage or improper working conditions. Inadequate wages and working conditions mean a chain about your neck and a cast-iron ball forged to your foot. These shackles can hem you in on all sides, restrict your freedom, and kill your spirit. But there have been vast advances in these matters through the leadership your organization has manifested for almost three score years and ten.
By this time you will probably wonder why I am talking so much about this one subject. It is because it is so important to all of us. It is necessary that we understand it fully. Once we do understand it, it becomes a part of us, and like the great athlete who has developed his muscles, we can also make our minds strong in the possession of this great principle. Through the use and application of it we can never be enslaved or regimented. You, who today are facing one of the greatest wage battles of your entire history, must go into the front lines clear-headed and clear-eyed, determined to fight for what you demand.
But first you must know and understand what you want, how to get it, and how to preserve it; consistent with the general good of your industry and the nation. Your battle is just, it is right, it is necessary, like all such moves it involves great understanding and the use of intelligent and far-seeing strategy. I have the utmost confidence in your generals. I also have the greatest confidence in the leaders on the side of management. I know from long experience in such affairs that something constructive will come out of this present action. But in order to assure it, to make assurance doubly sure, you must understand this great principle of enterprise and stand as one man in back of your leaders. It is not only a question of how much you will gain out of this present struggle, it is a question of how much you must also maintain for the benefit of us all. And what must you maintain? That is what I have been talking about. It is enterprise. It is freedom.
The labor movement as embodied in the idea of unionism represents a phase of American enterprise of monumental proportions. Labor has undertaken many actions in the past and will doubtlessly undertake many more in the future. But with each action there is an inevitable and inescapable responsibility attached. Labor, too, has understood and taken this responsibility. Organized labor has been a large influence and an important element in achieving higher wages, shorter hours and better working conditions for all wage earners.
You are all principally occupied with a great struggle today involving your financial relationships with the management of the industry which you so efficiently man. This struggle is right and just and your proved leadership will see you successfully through it as always in the past. Consider from the larger social and economic aspects, your struggle has much greater meaning to you and to all of us than the settlement of new terms in your financial and working relationships. Both you and management are working within the great area of our traditional freedom and joint activities are partly responsible for the ever increasing fruits of American enterprise. It is the duty of both of you to see that the conditions and opportunities of free enterprise are cultivated and improved and not stunted or destroyed.
LABOR MUST NOT BE REGIMENTED
Elsewhere, in great areas throughout the world we have seen the hideous monster of ancient times and the dark middle ages arise in the form of a super-state to actually crush the body and spirit of men. Such a thing cannot happen here if labor fulfills its obligation to society in general. And what is the obligation of labor? Part of it, as I see it, is to restrict with everything in their power the undue encroachment of dictatorial and arbitrary policies from any source which might endanger American enterprise. Labor acting through the process of unionism is one of the greatest bulwarks for the protection of the American way of life. Unionism is born in freedom and only thrives under conditions of freedom. So, in order that unionism may continue to grow successfully and serve the community, it must insist at all times that the conditions and privileges of freedom be maintained. Unionism must be ever on its guard to fight all attempts to reduce its freedom of action, it must fight efforts to totalitarianize labor in one big union.
In the days of old Czarist Russia there was little opportunity and no freedom for the worker to combine with his fellow workers and successfully create conditions to improve their lot. And for all practical purposes, Russia today differs little from that of the pre-revolutionary country, and Nazism is no better. Someone aptly said, not so long ago, that Russian Communism today was only Czarism in overalls. In free and constitutionally-governed America we have witnessed the greatest and most successful development of intelligent unionism.
That should prove to you for all times that successful unionism only flourishes on FREE soil. That should be the tip to you to keep the soil ever free. Today, we see labor and unionism crushed and regimented in the dictator-scourged countries. On the other hand, in free America you may witness instances of capital groups collaborating with labor to forward and preserve the independent action of labor organization. As an example, a dozen years ago, as Dave Robertson knows, I joined him in an effort to sustain the right of labor to collective bargaining, and actively placed an association or railroad security owners behind that policy.
All of this should point out to you the necessity for obtaining your demands successfully through the use of native American methods. Equally important, you must insist that only such native American methods be employed by management and government in their dealings with you. It was a wise man who observed that the frontier borders of Utopia would be found to be defended by raging intolerance. You must always be vigilant to guard your many American opportunities to work toward a national Utopia, with jealous intolerance coupled with great tolerance. Be intolerant of all foreign dictatorial, unconstitutional, and beastly attempts to wreck our American way of life. But be tolerant of the other American groups which are concerned in your dealings. Labor alone could not have built the railroads. It took money, large amounts of money, to blast the way for a band of steel across the nation. It took money and vision to buy equipment. It still takes money to run a railroad. Those who have invested in America by investing in the railroads deserve consideration. Likewise, the American public has a stake in railroad performance. You have a duty to all Americans as well as to yourselves in your dealings.
In all our dealings with other men, there unfortunately come periods of strain from misunderstandings. These strains, when carried to the breaking point, sometimes result in serious struggles and even violence. As intelligent individuals, we should always do our best to understand and to be understood. This understanding can be best brought about through knowing as much about the relationship existing between ourselves and others as is possible. In every relationship there are certain great fundamentals. These fundamentals usually will be found along the line of enlightened self-interest. There is nothing stronger in a normal man than the urge to promote his own best self-interest. That is the basis of self-respecting egotism. A healthy egotism is almost like the steam welling up against the piston head. It turns the wheel.
Well, then, if we look into this business of self-interest, we find that labor and management have a tremendous field in common. That all-important field is American enterprise.
Destroy that field and you not only destroy the relationships but you destroy both labor and management. That field reaches from the Atlantic to the Pacific. And in these days of growing hemispheric solidarity, the field reaches from the north pole to the south pole; it reaches from the very middle of the earth to the highest point in the heavens.
So you see labor and management may seem to be very far apart in some of the more secondary parts of their relationship. They are in reality one in their common responsibility for preserving American enterprise. It is the duty of both to maintain all of their negotiations well inside of this great principle so that it may be preserved for both of them, so that they may both prosper through it, within it, and on account of it. Now you can see even more clearly why I suggested that you be intolerant of any un-American attacks on this great principle.
The dictatorship countries would not have been possible if it had not been for the gradual but steady attacks on the free unionism movement. It was through a process of continual chiseling and gradual wearing away of the rights of labor that the whole institution was undermined, degraded, and finally crushed.
That can never happen here, if you men will cherish and protect American enterprise. And one way you can protect it is through a greater comprehension and appreciation of the varying viewpoints of your fellowmen. By and large we are all pretty much alike. We have similar appetites, desires and aspirations. Furthermore, labor and management have a joint self-interest in the preservation and extension of free American enterprise. This sameness in fundamentals throughout all human nature was cryptically expressed by Abraham Lincoln when he said: “I hold that if the Almighty had ever made a set of men that should do all the eating and none of the work, He would have made them with mouths only and no hands; and if He had ever made another class that He intended should do all the work and no eating, He would have made them with hands only and no mouths.”
MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING NECESSARY
I know my own experience has convinced me of the truth that in fundamentals human nature is one - is the same everywhere. In the past two years I have been making a special study of human relationships and found some very remarkable facts developing from the process of getting people to understand each other. We made a national survey within the past two years for the purpose of determining the best method of finding out about these relationships between government, management, finance and labor.
Since that time we have held nine national round-table conferences with representatives of labor, management, finance and government gathered round the dinner table. In addition, numerous local conferences were held with the same setup in a number of different parts of the country. Besides the valuable material developed, the results were always the same; a better understanding and appreciation of the other fellow’s point of view. This understanding arose from the fact that the four groups, upon coming into personal contact, discovered that they had a great deal in common when they brushed aside their surface attitudes and thoughts and really got down to business and talked about fundamentals.
In connection with your own problem, you should not only know and act upon these fundamentals but you must insist that management and government recognize them, understand them, and apply them, for the benefit of us all. If you do not do this, you will fail us all and our principle of American enterprise will be open to attacks by the false gods of unthinking selfish brute force.
Possibly, you may be a little bit surprised at the fact that I chose to speak to you today in the manner in which I have and on the topic which I have repeatedly mentioned. If I mentioned American enterprise many times it was done purposely because I wanted to impress upon you its importance and to inspire you to think about it in more glowing and militant terms. I have tried to give you a principle. And a principle like a good tool will always do you a good service. Armed with the knowledge and power of this principle, you should be more capable of going forth and obtaining what you want fairly and at the same time strengthen and assure the continuance of our American way of democracy.
In all of your major dealings in your important relationships with management and government, you must insist that the other side get right down to earth with you and work for the benefit of us all on the first principle that nothing will be tolerated with jeopardizes American enterprise. Reverence this principle of free American enterprise! Hold it sacred! For, if it is sacrificed, if it is encroached upon, any gains or advances you make for yourselves today are only meaningless, temporary advances that will be as empty bags
- as hollow bubbles tomorrow. Such gains would prove only wasted efforts on your part unless this sacred principle of free American enterprise remains intact and is kept active.
You can find the parallel of this vital principle in the old fable of the goose that, day by day, laid golden eggs, and of the unintelligent man who one day, in his eagerness to get a mess of the golden eggs, killed the goose that laid them. In other words, of what real advantage is it to you to gather in today a few golden eggs if, in the doing of it, you kill the goose that lays them. “Free American Enterprise” is the name, in this country, of this Magic Goose which is responsible for bringing forth, day by day, nests of golden eggs. Kill this Goose and the flow of golden eggs in this country will cease.
In closing, let me take a minute to give you a short true story which I recently came across. It drives home a point of American enterprise.
A man named Gus has performed a miracle.
Years ago as a young Swedish immigrant, he had worked on and developed machine guns America used in World War I.
Last November, Gus Swebilius heard World War II’s urgent call for aircraft machine guns - for more of them than existing capacities could possibly turn out.
Normally it would take eighteen months to create such capacity. But that was too long for Gus Swebilius. He started to build a plant; he fine-tooth-combed New England for old machine tools; he rounded up skilled gunsmiths who had worked with him during World War I; and in less than six months, Gus was producing machine guns - 500 last month and soon will be producing 1,500 a month.
This miracle, the miracle of Gus, is typical of the ingenuity, the resourcefulness of the free men developed in our democracy. It demonstrates anew the kind of skill and determination that has built America’s great industrial plant.
Thus, we see that we must preserve our system of American enterprise. It must be protected against the potential and actual inroads of foreign doctrines which would try to destroy it if given only half a chance. It must be preserved in the spirit of constitutional democracy. It can and will be protected and preserved through a broader and more militant understanding of what this free enterprise means to the very life of all Americans.
At the conclusion of this discussion with you today, I desire to add a unique contribution. This contribution came at my request, out of the inspiration of one of America’s greatest living poets - Miss Angela Morgan, Poet-laureate of the American Federation of Woman’s Clubs. It is inscribed to your great Brotherhood and she asked me to dedicate it to this convention. Its title is SONG OF BROTHERHOOD.
Sing a song of brotherhood In a time of war! Brotherhood’s the only weapon That will travel far, Brotherhood’s the best defense A Nation ever knew - Hail to you, O brothers, And the deeds you do!
Hail to you, O brothers, And the toil you share, Strength to you, O brothers, In the loads you bear. If the world would waken to The grandeur of your cause, War would soon be banished by The pull of higher laws.
Brotherhood is not alone Answer to our human curse, Brotherhood is NOW THE SONG OF THE UNIVERSE. Brotherhood obeys the law Of the star above the hill, Spring and summer, snow and thaw, Throbbing of Creator’s will.
Pulsing like the engine’s heart, Glowing with our human dream, Brotherhood is chiming, chiming, With the Cosmic Theme. Brotherhood will triumph yet! Hate nor war shall hold it back, Brotherhood that sees the road, Keeps the train upon its track.
Sing a song of brotherhood And a time of peace - Brotherhood’s the only weapon That will bring release. Men and nations wildly stumbling, Into battle hurled - BROTHERHOOD’S THE ONLY POWER THAT WILL SAVE THE WORLD!

… Ave. …, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce, Besides the use of this medium in getting you the ten dollars bal. due on my reading, my purpose in writing, is to inform you that I am sending under separate cover, the script I was telling you about, in the hope that you will be kind enough to read it through, regardless of how vague and uninteresting it may seem. I am anxious to get your comments and honest judgement which you need not fear to give, for that is the only kind that would be of any use to me, and knowing you and the things that you stand for, “as I do,” I am confident that honest and frank judgement or criticism, is the only kind I may expect.
In regards to my reading, I feel deeply grateful for the information given. It rang so true, as to circumstances of which I am consciously aware, that I feel safe in relying upon that part, or those elements which I was not aware.
It will be to me, a constant reminder of duty, as well as a source of sustaining courage as I go about in my humble way, striving to fulfill the purpose for which I feel I came into this present incarnation.
At Gladys’ request, I sent a copy of the reading, together with a letter of explanation to Mr. [1151], but so far, I have received no reply.
Is there any way you can suggest for getting in touch with him, the entity Cornelius?
In making these requests, I feel so keenly, the guilt of intrusion that I sincerely trust I may be able to find some way to fully repay you for the time over drawn.
My wife unites with me in kindest regards.
Most faithfully yours, [1757]
P.S. You will note some misquoted words and mistakes in punctuation in manuscript [GD’s note: Mr. Cayce must have later returned the manuscript to Mr. [1757], since it is not to be found in his folder.] due, “no doubt,” to my own indiscretion in writing, also to inexperience of the young lady who did the typing. [1757]
R3. 1/5/42 EC’s ltr. to Mr. [1757]:
Dear Mr. [1757]:
Just a note to thank you for yours of the 30th and to let you know I received the manuscript alright. Am reading same and like it - will take me a little time to digest same as am very slow reader at best. So, if that is alright - will keep same until have chance to really read and study same, so as to be able give you an opinion on same.
Hope you had a very pleasant holiday, and that you and Mrs. [1697] are well and fine.
Thanking you again and may the New Year bring you Peace and happiness in HIM

R4. 1/16/42 Mr. [1757]‘s speech given at office business meeting:
Forecasting The Brotherhood Of America
SPEECH OF PROCLAMATION by [1757]
Speech of Proclamation for Reunion of Old Study Group
Now and then, there occurs in the history of our race, as well as in the life of an individual a crisis which we recognize as the end of an old and the beginning of a new cycle.
The advent of these new episodes or initiations, whether they occur as an incident of individual, group or national experience, they inevitably lead to the conviction of a need for radical reforms.
Through the progress of time, we have come again, to one of those grim milestones where there awaits before the heroes or our race, another jungle to be subdued, a new Frontier, the wilderness of error and of wrong, injustice, poverty and hate.
The mind of man is almost completely enslaved by his desires and because of fear and poverty, prejudice and ignorance, these desires and fears are often an unsafe and unwise control.
Nevertheless, there is, in the heart of humanity a quality which we have called good-will, that is very real and very powerful. It is inherent in our very natures, and requires only the releasing into its natural expression.
In a new and unique sense, we stand today at the dawn of an entirely new economic age, in which there will arise a more favorable circumstance for the expression of all these finer urges within the human heart, this is increasingly obvious to all thinking people.
Because of the latest triumph of science in the release of atomic energy, the future of mankind and the type of the coming civilization is unpredictable.
The changes which are eminent are so far-reaching, it is apparent that the old economic values and the familiar standards of living are bound to pass away. And no one knows just what will take their place.
What we do know, “however,” is that the Brotherhood of man is the highest concept that ever entered the human mind. It is therefore, today’s interpretation of what mankind is looking for upon the earth.
We know, also, that this is our destiny, because it is a natural inclination of the human heart and embodies the standards revealed by Jesus Christ Himself.
With these ideals in mind, any step we can take forward, will evoke the needed light for further progress toward that end, and will call forth that saving force which has in it, the potency of rebuilding for civilized comfort. And if motivated by right human relations, will produce the warmth, the rare beauty and color in the life of our society that will bring to an end, all human slavery, and thus, leave man free to pursue the higher aims of the Spirit.
It is up to the men and women of good-will in the world, to overthrow all the possibilities for a few rich and privileged people to have too much when others have too little.
Two things will end this appalling condition of great luxury and extreme poverty of gross over-feeding of the few and the starvation of the many.
These are first, the recognition that ordinary commonsense would indicate, which is ample human supplies in the world to meet the needs of the entire population. The problem therefore, is basically one of distribution.
The second, is the acceptance of this premise of adequate supply, handled through right distribution, must be required and the supplies which are essential to the health, security, and happiness of mankind must be made available.
In that connection, I hope to point out tonight, a system which I believe is adequate for charting out such a course of economics, and one that will make for the security and well-being of everyone concerned.
It includes a formula by which everyone who wishes to avail himself may have the opportunity for expressing the divine urge within his own heart.
It is a project that will promote a broader mental perspective in the realms of human fellowship, wherein everyone can be released into that state of life which will give them leisure, and time to follow spiritual objectives. Thus, they can realize a richer and more cultural life.
We are witnessing a time of great changes. It is “indeed” a stupendous moment in the history of man’s growth and we are privileged “if we choose” to be partakers in this great planetary event.
The fact is, A New World Cycle is beginning and that which is undesirable in both National and individual affairs are gradually but relentlessly being broken down, by the powerful, incoming cosmic forces and I doubt seriously, if anyone will be able to escape the impact, in one form or another.
In the lives of world disciples at this time, great world problems are being worked out. Their response to world conditions is more sensitive and quicker than in the past, and in their subsequent clear thinking lies the hope of world re-generation.
The real work of reconstruction in the world, will be done by those who, in the silence of their own hearts have walked with God and learned His ways.
In the New Age which is upon us all true work will be carried on in the form of group activity, but with the individual subordinated to the group good.
Some of you here, have no doubt, already pondered your qualifications for playing some part in the re-ordering of our distressed world.
It is, therefore, my wish tonight to lay before you a plan which is proposed for definite action along those lines, and in the hope I have of enlisting your aid by whatever means you may choose. I should like to ask that you bear with me while I try to inform you of the basic principle.
Some of you already know something of the plan, but possibly have not been given a chance to study it sufficiently for complete enlightenment as to the idea.
It’s a project which has been on my heart for the past several years and for seven or eight of these years I have studied, planned and worked at. In spare moments during week-ends, in what you might say, a private or silent way, and while I have done my best to point out, in both script and draft, the general course to be followed for laying the foundation work. It is by no means intended to be used in a forced conformity to the plans which I have made on paper. It may be, that the central theme as I have tried to describe it, will occur to some of you as too delicate and idealistic to be practical.
It was “so” designed for forecasting, “in some degree”, the trends of the future and on that account “perhaps I should say”, there has been a good reason for fixing the goal high and within such spiritual setting.
It is obvious, “however”, that the idea to make it practical must be brought down to earth and constantly adjusted to meet the need of the times as we go forward through the opening of the New Age.
When the initial start is once made and the course followed can be dictated by practical commonsense, all else, will inevitably fall in line. While many details in the work will possibly be left open for negotiable suggestions by the workers themselves, the routines will be worked out, “mainly” in conclave by Councillors chosen for this purpose.
Through the proper discipline and dedication in service to mankind, the members of this conclave should, “in the course of time,” become occultly imbued with the plan.
Their major task will be to develop that type of cleverness with which to plan out a social and economic system in which every citizen will have enough substance and leisure for a happy life.
The principle that is suggested for effecting these ends have been outlined in the smaller pamphlet which I have prepared under the title of interpretation of charts.
Our social and economic problems are basically not so difficult, but what sound commonsense can easily solve them.
Our first problem, “therefore,” will be the building up within the organization of a sound economic system.
We must first, have a sufficiency to thrive on, and to keep soul and body together before the group members will have the incentive to develop and make the proper use of their mind, but I submit that before we can frame a new system that will meet the need of all participants, a reversal of the old concept of both, economic and social life is essential.
We must come to realize that just as the fruits, flowers, and vegetables of our garden are for the benefit of each member of the family to be shared between our brothers and sisters, so, are the riches of the earth, “there,” for the benefit of all mankind, “The Brotherhood of Man.”
When closely bound by a fond brotherhood love our labors together should prove a wonderful aid in the build up of private benefits, as well as for the common wield.
When you combine with others in a sustained, concerted action for a definite, and worthy goal, you contribute to a great force which increases in momentum as you progress toward that goal.
The will to the common good, yet latent, but readily available in humanity itself, is abundant, but its value still remains too largely unrecognized, and its natural expression in large masses of people completely stifled by our system of highly selfish and competitive living, which is accepted by millions as the established way of life and the only commonsense way of getting along.
If our attitude toward each other can be changed and the principles of sharing and cooperation established, the overcoming of racial and religious intolerance and persecution will naturally be the result.
The venture I propose to you people at this time, is the outcome of an experience which has proven beyond doubt that good will is the most divine activity of the spirit of man.
It is the wisest method, the secret of cooperative living and the most powerful force in the realm of human affairs.
The aim throughout is a practical one. The idea is to establish an institution which is to engage, not only in preaching and teaching, or worship and schooling, but in a single undertaking of which teaching, worship and work are inseparable parts.
That single purpose can be quite simply expressed as a society of men and women cooperating in God’s purpose of promoting the spirit of brotherhood in the world.
We not only need to describe the New Kingdom, we must demonstrate it through the actual experience of groups who follow its laws.
We must provide that growing lives may grow up in the organization and practice the true spirit of good will. Then never doubt as to whether it will work.
The plan for financing the enterprise is based on the Biblical Laws of tithing, which is the only ratio divulged by Holy Writ for guiding mankind in his material contribution to the House of God.
If the benefits to our membership were limited to this method of accumulating funds alone, progress in the beginning would be slow, indeed. “Nevertheless”, if the fundamental operating philosophy, as it exists in my mind, can be carried out, the decree, “in the hearts of the faithful,” will be established and thus, every step from the very start can be tread in security and delight.
If each requirement can be met with fortitude and a smile, no one, “ever”, from his entrance into this edifice of human service will have to go his way alone. It is a Union in which the problems of one, will be the problems of all.
Our aim, from the start, will be to do everything possible to offset any hardship incurred by the outlay of a tenth in income, and in this effort, everyone will have the privilege of sharing a part.
If EVERY MEMBER OF THE HOUSEHOLD WILL DO HIS PART without complaint and by using tact, tolerance and kindness, much can be accomplished, almost from the outset, toward the development of a workable set-up in which all concerned will realize the possibilities and enormous benefits that can be derived through this Holy Alliance.
It is astonishing what results can be achieved with ordinary resources when there is added industry, patience, faith and consecration to a worthy purpose.
Besides the prospects which I have already mentioned if we can move ahead, in a well defined direction, and with due humility toward the goal, we can safely rely upon the Eternal Light to shine upon the way.
Fortified with this evidence, and in the faith that what is done well, will meet with quick recognition from above, we can look forward “in all confidence”, for sufficient backing to set-up an endowment fund and even the world’s support in working it out.
As a measure for surety in that regard, great effort will be made for the merit of distinction in quality and beauty, and for maintaining the highest possible standard in all the brotherhood products.
With a reputation of this sort, in all that is done, it would be hard to estimate its intrinsic value in the way of influence and esteem.
In your outlook upon the plan, it may seem at first, to require too much of one’s time from his present occupation to warrant the needed effort, but such is not the case. “However”, it will become necessary, in the experimental stage of the project to adopt a system for collaboration in an alternate three hours per week interchange working agreement. This, of course, is intended mainly, as a plan for the foundation work only, and can be suspended upon the arrival at a point of development when it is no longer necessary for a member to seek vocation outside of the brotherhood.
Such arrangement should not be looked upon as a hardship, nor a work of drudgery, as it will be up to the individual chiefly, to choose for himself the kind of work for which he is best fitted and that field in which he feels that he can be of greatest value to the Fraternity, as a whole.
Furthermore it should be kept in mind that these work periods are to be selected for a time which is most convenient to the member himself.
The intensity of our contribution to world service will depend, not only upon the initiative and ingenuity of our leaders, but also, upon the skills displayed by all the units for working out in practice that which we already know in theory.
Then, when we have wrought out “in reality” that which we already know, the insuing light and greater knowledge will inevitably follow.
One thing I seek to point out is that the work will fall into three main departments. The first of which is to strive earnestly for the spiritual awakening of those within the groups.
The second, lies in the achievement through a common bond of interest of the material security of all the members. And the third is connected with what service we can render in the world of the future by the kind of pattern we succeed in building.
We start with the promise that two opposing world visions confront humanity, and that two world orders are presented to the race. Between these, man must choose and in that choice will determine the future.
Those who perceive the risks, the opportunity and the impor tant decisions to be made are struggling with almost frantic haste to awaken the masses to the problems of this moment.
What we decide during the next few years will condition the future as no other human decision has ever before done in the history of mankind.
With the knowledge I had gained prior to the times we used to meet in our study groups, of the approaching conditions pointed out by the prophesies, I could seem to see a continued drifting of humanity into a deeper and more chaotic state, unless their inclination toward greed for the powers of materialism were checked, and their leanings swayed toward the ideals of Brotherhood.
Few of you can realize, I’m sure the stimulant from spiritual satisfaction which I have experienced through the inception of seed thoughts which began to take root in our group studies.
Whatever you may think of what I have to say, it was nevertheless, back in those study group days that the idea which I seek to bring before you tonight began to take form.
It happened like this: Through a yearning of the soul to see the reign of brotherhood in the world and believing with all my heart that that was God’s design for the human family, I began to meditate on the strategy He would make use of for bringing it about.
When the answer to that mental query came, the revelation convinced me that His plan was to accomplish it through the mediumship of His faithful servants in mortality, manifesting, “of course”, under the guiding council of Holy Spirit.
Then the question arose. If this is my ideal for a world of the future and if I wished to be accounted worthy of inhabiting such a world, why then should I not make my covenant of work along these lines and thus seek the things which is of most interest to myself by helping to create that world. And so, with conviction on my heart I proceeded to work and to lay plans for the establishment of what you may call a miniature replica of the real Brotherhood era for which we pray and that is to come.
The aim of this Brotherhood is to blaze the trail to the high places in consolidated groups and to keep it open that others may follow.
As a title for this project I have elected, “The Brotherhood of America,” as forerunners to the New Cosmic Age. It is to function as a channel between the inner planes and the outer world.
Up to now, but very few people have seen the plan, most of these have expressed themselves in a way which has led me to believe they are genuinely concerned enough so, “in fact,” to impress me with the idea that the average spiritual thinker would heartily endorse the idea.
Among those who have expressed themselves as being deeply interested are Mrs. Alice Bailey, of New York, whom I have kept appraised of the progress and revisions as they have been developed from time to time for the past few months.
I, also, received from Mr. Edgar Cayce before his death, as well as from two or three other spiritual thinkers, letters of inspiration which have tended to supply the fortitude and the needed stimulant and courage for carrying on, even in the face of heavy and pressing duties in material affairs.
There are several reasons for leaning so hard upon the opinions of Mrs. Bailey. First of all, she has impressed me through her writings as being not only one of the world’s great teachers but thinkers as well. She is indeed a world server, and one with broad travel and lecture experience.
She is also an author and Head of the Arcane School which she organized about twenty years ago in the City of New York, and today with its agencies and subdivisions scattered abroad in different parts of the world. Its influence encompasses a great part of the Globe.
Yet, according to her own statement, this great movement was started with a group of six people. To me, this is just another proof of God’s pleasure in beholding the growth of all things, “which conform to His Laws,” from a tiny seed to the stature of greatness or grandeur.
Mrs. Bailey is also associated with her husband in the publication of spiritual literature, “consisting mainly”, or a magazine known as the “Beacon” - a periodical which is devoted to the science of occult thought, and one to which Mrs. Bailey, “herself”, contributes the most important part through treatise received telepathically from one of the World’s Great Masters of the East, and who, “in himself,” is recognized as one of New Age Competence.
Perhaps at this point, it might be well to make myself clear regarding these Masters. To those of you who may know little or nothing about their functions on the earth plane, I do not wish to impress with the idea that they are, “nor do they claim to be,” in the same category with the Christ, but through their discipline and sacrifice, their devotion and dedication have risen to that high estate in spiritual wisdom and fitness which has qualified them for world Teachers, who function as a Great Hierarchy, and thus, forming a reliable channel through which the Christ can freely operate in carrying out His designs for the human race.
These too, have their sub-agents spotted over the world. They are known as disciples of the New Age and whether we are conscious or unconsciously aware of the fact, there are many individuals here and there who are today carrying out their wishes through the stimulant and inspiration conveyed by their powerful vibrations.
When the plan which I have purposed has been fully sensed, it will be easier to apprehend its facilities for constituting a channel through which everyone connected with the work may enjoy the opportunity it offers for making a vital contribution toward the establishment of peace, happiness, and security - not only for the members themselves, but setting an example for all mankind.
In order to keep pace with the inevitable changes that are taking place over the world, it is most important for those of us who have an interest in the kind of world in which we live, and which posterity will honor us for, to begin making plans for its structure.
To start making these plans, “will of course,” involve some sort of decision, you might ask at this point upon what a right decision should be based?
To that query my answer is, on that which gives you a wider field of service, so that all your powers and gifts, your acquired talents and initiative may be called into play and give you that rounded out development which will equip you for a most useful life of activity in the world of the future.
Another important factor which should be taken into account, is also, that which can be done best by you and you alone.
In the pursuit of happiness, the main problem for some of you, “I’m sure,” as well as my own, has been to find your real place in the scheme of life where you could hammer away on the castle of your dreams.
Forget not, there are certain activities which burn a person out without giving him much satisfaction along the road of life, even though the task at hand, is performed in seeming perfection.
While the aim in this collaboration must be fluid in adjustment, definite steps will be taken for giving one the chance of a better day in vocational activities wherein he may enjoy life to the fullest, in his daily work and along the lines which means most to himself.
In the discovery of one’s self, he also discovers his responsibilities and his brothers as fellow pilgrims on the path. He, consequently, pledges himself to the goal and thus, by superseding his own will by the purpose, he achieves that balance of nature, regardless of material successes, that is so essential in seeking first, the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.
It has been said that union does everything when it is perfect. It satisfies desires, simplifies needs, foresees the wishes and becomes a constant fortune.
To secure this perfect union, I can say with confidence that the plan must embody certain fundamental principles that are ranged on the side of the Law.
It makes no difference whether one is starting a new business, sponsoring a Law, running a railroad or writing a play. The human nature aspect cannot be escaped.
If the play or project does not check with human nature, it simply will not work out. The answer is written in advance.
It is not my purpose to particularize on the plan tonight, but basically, I should say the most acceptable standard would be to construct its frame work upon a foundation which typifies in its pattern the fundamentals upon which the ideal family life are based, consisting partly of young and some of older souls.
It is a work that must be carried on entirely with no attack upon any political party or group and no criticism of any leader or national activity.
Such old methods have long been tried but have failed to bring peace on earth. This is a movement that will stand before the bars of judgement and in the eyes of the world be awarded, “in justice,” according to its value to the human society, whom it seeks to serve.
Up to now, the plan is only in the paper stage, but as Mrs. Bailey has stated, after seeing the revised script, which apparently gave her a more complete version of the idea, it is now time to call a group together and begin to put the idea into a concrete form, and so, to that end, my purpose now is to discover an individual here, and there, who have the faith and foresight, the needed patience and courage to identify and to dedicate themselves as a charter member of a seed group for promoting this pioneering enterprise in the cause of Christ and humanity.
Then leaving its unfoldment and growth to the Great Laws of God, which provides every blessing in abundance and ample means for every good enterprise.
The ideal way, “I believe,” to get going would be to carry out the suggestion indicated by a reading given on the plan by Mr. Edgar Cayce before his death.
That is to call together a group of three, five, nine, twelve, or fifteen to prepare and draw from the plan and ideals a charter for such an organization. This necessitates of course, the employment of a lawyer in order to go through the regular channel.
According to this authentic source of information the preferred number to be chosen for this procedure is twelve, though, as stated, it could be done with three but not less than three.
I hold that it is possible as a unified group, or groups of people with a conscious social aim, to discover a system that is fashioned after the Natural Laws of the Universe. A system that is so simple and orderly arranged that the law of supply and demand will carry all of its people “especially” the workers and the poor to an even higher standard of life, a standard that is limited only by out [our?] effective desires and our united wills.
In this undertaking, there are three things to do. They are to think clearly and calmly then keep going, but the most important of these and the most difficult, “I believe,” is to start.
In arriving at your conclusion upon the study of this work, I would like to ask that you keep in mind the flexibility of its purpose, as it has nothing to do with controlling nor dictating one’s religious views, except, of course, to strive earnestly in the directing of thought along the channels of truth and then leaving the individual to the processes of his own nature.
The main requisite for affiliation with the movement is first of all, sincerity, then honesty, integrity, and tolerance, and last but not least, is a firm belief that the happiness and success of one’s neighbor is as important as his own and that he is willing to seek in behalf of others, the same things that he asks and seeks for himself.
Neither oath nor vow will be required, why? Because they are neither needed nor wanted. True Brotherhood is automatic. When a man becomes a member, one of two things will happen, either he will catch the spirit and be an asset, or he or she may fail to register in accord with the law and drop out.
In the former case an oath or vow is needless, and in the latter, a handicap. Furthermore, this Brotherhood will have nothing to keep secret. In fact, it should have everything to broadcast.
As you look forth upon this idea for instant response to every emergency, I would feel very grateful for any consideration you may think it deserves.
The discourse tonight has been mainly for proclaiming the plan without divulging its particulars, but if God is willing and you will be kind enough to permit one or two assemblies at some future dates, I should be glad to give you more definite details, and try to explain in a more specific manner, some of the objectives, as well as the ways and means which are proposed for attaining same.
Now, my “friends”, in conclusion, I want you to know that many factors beside those I have stated are responsible for this endeavor.
While the letters and comments I have received concerning the work have been fine and encouraging, without the sustaining fortitude which I have experienced through Soul stimulant and inspiration from within, it would have been impossible, “I believe,” to carry on for so long in the privacy which I have endured, especially so in the face of pressing circumstance which have crowded about me in the performance of ordinary duties in my material work.
Though these duties have been hard and binding from without, the freedom within, which to me, has been a witness of the Spirit, has afforded me great inner joy and satisfaction all along the path, for under such circumstance, one has the opportunity to observe the opening and closing of doors, and thus, he soon learns that the disciple in training has to cultivate that spiritual response which enables him to know through which door his Soul desires him to pass. … Ave. …, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce, With pleasure, “my wife and I” agree to unite with other members of your association in daily prayer for Divine guidance through these days of strife and destruction in the world.
This, I believe to be an act which should be emphasized at this time and one that would be recognized by Divine Providence as a procedure in coordination with the Great Ones from the inner planes.
Not only that, but I believe it is the duty of all children of light to shoot out flaming arrows of truth, into the ethers whenever and wherever we find the atmosphere favorable and sometimes I wonder if it is not favorable most anywhere in these days.
As a proof of this, I am inclosing a speech which I delivered in a business meeting at our office last Frid. A.M. at which the Vice pres. [See his Co. letterhead, Par. R4 above] of our company and about thirty five other men were present.
Well, I wish you could have been present to see the response, and to have heard the comments. I told my wife it made me feel good, because I felt it was a venture into waters where I was not sure of safety.
The two dollars is for this year’s subscription for the bulletin.
We join in kindest regards to yourself and your household. I am
Faithfully yours, [1757]
P.S. You may keep the manuscript as long as you wish, if you deem it of any value, and if there are changes you would suggest, please do not hesitate in making them because, “after all,” there may be instances where you can express my ideas better than I could.
Thanks. [1757]

Dear Mr. [1757]:
Thanks very much for yours of the 18th - also for letting me see the copy of your talk to your group at the office [See Par. R4 above]. Do not wonder they all complemented you - that is what we need every where - those willing to testify and live the life as exemplified in the Christ Jesus.
Thanks for your response to the open letter [1/8/42 See under 2678-1 Background]. Have been very much pleased with the way the membership have written - some very beautiful, very lovely letters. Hope to have the reading now soon [See 281-60] and hope we may be the means of real help to many.
Thanks too for the contribution. This helps and we are needing much of that nature of help.
Will wish to read the manuscript again if I may, then will make what comments have to make and return to you. Hope tho some time to sit down and talk with you about this.
With sincere good wishes [signed] Edgar Cayce
R7. 2/18/42 EC’s ltr. to Mr. [1757]:
Dear Mr. [1757]:
Realize should not have kept your manuscript so long but have been turning its contents over and over in my mind trying to know just what to say to you about same. Am sure you want my honest opinion, not just something to flatter you. There is too much that is most excellent for this to be just dismissed lightly, as to whether the idea as to how this would be put into activity is correct or do not know whether it is sufficiently stated in the matter or not. Would it be possible for you to take the time to go over this with me? Could talk it over much better as we would discuss the various phases of the ideas and ideals presented. Would like to do this if you think well of the idea. Don’t know as I am capable of complete judgement or not, but would certainly like to discuss this with you, have it ready to mail back to you, but would like to know whether you would care to discuss this with me or not before returning same. So will hold and mail the letter and will mail manuscript at once if you wish it back at once. Forgive me for taking so long, but did not want to do you or myself or the matter an injustice in any sense.
Let me hear from you
With His Blessings on you
Sincerely [signed] Edgar Cayce
R8. 2/22/42 Requesting Ck. Physical for his wife, Mrs. [1697]:
Many thanks for your letter of the 18th. In reply to same, I should say it would be a pleasure, also considered as a privilege to run down there any Sat. or Sun. p.m. you could arrange to give me your time, as I am so crowded in my work [and] these are about the only days I could conveniently go.
I am afraid that I have made you feel the responsibility of added labors to burdens that were already heavy enough for one Soul to bear.
As to the manuscript, there is no need of rush, for in the work it suggests I feel very helpless in my own strength.
I realize very keenly, that for the time being, it is neces sary to move cautiously. Stopping at the halt signals as well as keeping on the lookout and making sure to move forward step by step as the green or go signs are given. “In other words,” I shall not fret, nor worry but try. “God being my helper,” to most humbly and faithfully follow the light.
Hoping to hear from you again soon, I am
Faithfully yours,
R9. 10/11/42 Mr. [1757]‘s ltr. to EC:
… Ave. …, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce;
Under separate cover, I am sending you three sections of the script, “Namely”, The Foreward conditions for membership and summary, which I have undertaken to revise.
If it is not asking too much of you, I would greatly appreciate having you examine them, with the view of getting your comments and criticism, as to whether you think there is some inprovement. Also, if you think I have been specific enough to make it more understandable.
Should you decide the plan can be made workable, what do you advise in regards to getting a reading on same?
While “to myself”, the plan seems real and as the outcome of an experience, I am not ignoring the fact that there is such a thing as mental illusion.
At any rate, to get the “go” signal from sources of wisdom and light, “at higher points of view” and who are endowed with a true and unmistakable spiritual perception, would seem to add greatly to one’s faith and courage, who is groping his way along the path, striving to fulfill the purpose for which he came into the world.
With many thanks and best wishes, I am,
Most sincerely yours, [1757]
R10. 10/16/42 EC’s ltr. to Mr. [1757]:
Dear Mr. [1757]:
Have yours of the 11th with the manuscript. Have read it very carefully and prayerfully, and believe you have the makings of an excellent piece of work - something very timely, and that is needed at this time. Of course as you say, this is just the outline, but the ideas, the principals [principles], the ideals are right. And with prayerful consideration, the needed routine can be worked out for each step of the unfoldment or degree of those who choose to affiliate them selves with such a group. The main thing will be that he that works not, enjoys none of the benefits of the association.
Will be glad to talk with you further along these lines.
With every good wish and HIS Blessings be with you
Sincerely [signed] Edgar Cayce
R11. 3/21/43 Mr. [1757]‘s ltr. to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce,
We know that the coming of this war has brought about the necessity for particular kinds of service.
I am also sure that its outcome will bring to the servants of God an opportunity for a new and different kind of service and so, the new world, that is to be. I inclose this nite to help sustain while you wait.
Sincerely yours, [1757]
P.S. Did not know how the gas rationing is affecting your work, [1757].
R12. 3/25/43 EC’s ltr. to Mr. [1757]:
Dear Mr. [1757]:
Let me express to you my sincere appreciation of yours of the 21st, and your wish to contribute to the work we are trying to do. Wish could have the opportunity to talk with you some time. To be sure the publication - There Is A River - may change the whole complexion of the efforts here. Hope nothing changes the work as to its good it may accomplish for others. But many of the problems as are arising at this time might be of real interest to you and your way of thought, and your purpose as I understand it. So when you have the opportunity do come in and see me - some Sunday, maybe. Know one is limited as to driving but should you find the time, possibly when you are not too busy a bus trip might not be too bad for you, and would like to talk with you and thank you personally for your interest - Prayers and Help -
Again thanking you
Sincerely [signed] Edgar Cayce

Dear Mr. Cayce:
Forgive my delay in answering your letter, one of the reasons for my waiting so long to go down for another consultation with you, is that I wrote Mrs. Alice Bailey of New York sometime ago, for an appointment with her, which she kindly granted, providing I notify her a week or so, in advance.
The point in this, is that I wanted to be able to give you the views of some other individual of Spiritual vision and one who is not afraid to think.
But, up to the present time, it has not been convenient for me to go, and so, if you will kindly let me know what Sunday afternoon you may have a few moments to spare, I should be pleased to run down and see you.
Thanks and blessings upon your family and your work,
Sincerely yours, [1757]

Dear Mr. Cayce:
When we were at your place last, Mrs. Cayce said something about the need for calling on members for ration coupons for Congress.
My wife wishes to know which ones she is most likely to need, as we want to do what we can to help out in this regard.
With lots of good wishes, I am
Sincerely yours,

Dear Mr. [1757]:
Thanks for yours of the 8th - also for enclosure. What would become of us without friends like you?
As for the coupons, Mrs. Noah Miller has charge of the preparations for the Lunch on Friday noon the 18th. Ask Mrs. [1697] to phone her and see what she needs to help out
- am sure she is in the phone book. Don’t recall the number just now, certainly appreciate yours and Mrs. [1697]‘s wish to help out. Do hope you will be able to be with us during Congress.
Thanks again
With his Blessings
Sincerely [signed] Edgar Cayce

Thanks, and His blessings upon you and yours.

Dear Mr. [1757]:
Thanks for yours of the 8th with enclosure. We are expecting you Monday afternoon at 3:30. We may have to double up and may put most of the time to a very urgent case, but yours will be given first. I have something to talk with you about, and I hope you will come as soon as you can.
Thanking you very much for past favors and I am hoping to be of a real service.
Sincerely, Edgar Cayce
