This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home, 322 Grafton Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, this 26th day of August, 1924, in accordance with request made by Mr. [1180].

Time of Reading 4:40 P. M. Dayton Savings Time. Wichita Co., Texas.

1. GC: You will now have before you the lands in the forty-acre tract of the J. W. Robertson sub-division #5, lease known as Turner Sheagogg lease, now owned by the Port Chester Oil Company. This land is located in Wichita County, Texas. You will give particular attention to the East twenty acre end of this tract. Tell us if any production of oil would be found here, and where, giving the depth and amount of production. Also the twenty acres North of the West twenty acre end of this tract. Would we find oil here? What quantity of oil and where would it be found? Would it be better to operate this twenty acre tract, or to accept the proposition now made on same?

2. EC: Yes, we have these lands here and conditions relative to same. We have had these lands before.

3. We find in the East end that production may be obtained, and that the quantity and quality would be satisfactory in many respects. However, the proposition that is offered at the present time would be more satisfactory than operating one’s self; that is, from the viewpoint and position of the Port Chester Oil Company at the present time.

4. The lands to the North of West end may be made to produce. This will be found at the four corners almost of the twenty acre tract. In this we find the lay of the surface indicates the conditions. This would be found at six hundred and fifty (650) feet, and the production in the North and East well or location would be the better one. This would produce, we see, some ninety (90) barrels of oil per day.

5. In the other sections where locations might be made would be found in the South and East end of this tract, or that nearly as an offset to another well that has been drilled that proved unsatisfactory, but at the hundred and fifty-three (153) feet from this location, North by West, we would make the location; that is, in the South and East end of this tract, but the proposition offered by other parties to the Port Chester Oil Company would be satisfactory, and more so, under existing conditions, than the operation themselves.

6. We are through.

R1. 9/4/24 [1180]‘s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Your letter and reading received several days ago. I forwarded same to Mr. Burton my associate and received an answer from same.

He has not closed any deal, he is waiting for my return. We expect to start Sunday night. Our old friends gave a big dance for us at the townhall about a hundred and fifty were present sure had a good time. Father and Mother were out until one thirty, then Father is thinking today so you see he is O.K.

Referring to the reading you gave on our home base I feel the advise is right then for those two locations you gave for the 650 ft. sand we would be glad if you can explain this a little more clear as we are hoping the shallow rights so would like to drill thru two locations but we cannot understand from the reading just which 20 A. these locations are on if they are on both on the 20A, North & West of our 40A, lease a one on each 20 I shall be glad to hear from you about this so we can have it more clear.

I shall let you know upon my return to Texas what we are doing on our new company.

Yours of the 4th came in hand in due time. I am sure, if you have studied the reading over, you will see that the locations as made are on the twenty acres lying North of your West end of your property, and that you would do better by selling the East end of your property than operating same.

I’m in hopes that you found everything in good shape on your arrival in Texas and that things are going fine with you. I know you must have had a good time at home and am sure you hated to leave.

R3. 9/16/24 [1180]‘s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce:

We arrived in Texas last Wednesday, have been somewhat on the jump since that time. We closed a deal on our East twenty not with the man Pace, but believe we have a far better deal we let it on a fifty, fifty drilling contract that is the deep oil and reserved all the shallow oil so did not get the twenty North of us because after investigating a little we found they were not the kind of people we cared to do business with.

Then we also took a contract to drill ten wells from four hundred to seven hundred ft all on one fifty acre lease for one man, as fast as can put them down, will be able to start about Thursday of this week that will mean a double crew on that machine the remainder of this year. The deeper or the rotary on our East twenty will start in a few days as soon as can move rig. so you see we have some thing started.

Then today I have been over the various blocks, you gave readings on will say this block is 35 - 36 it will be some what hard to locate the place mentioned because that is just a big country like you have seen lots of here, this is very rolling not broken, the creeks are only streams during wet weather they are numerous but none of them have running water, or are they cut out enough that you can hardly tell where they should be.

But then follow down the East line of 37 thence South Easterly into form shown on Map as J. W. Tillarson we find an old well that was drilled years ago for oil, then five hundred yards West brings us into the edge of the W. J. Evans exactly as reading gives so you see this looks very good but during my visit in Ohio, some parties from Wichita Falls leased up a block of eight hundred acres, just to the South of this taking in 50 acres of this Evans farm, this was just closed last week ad they agree to start a deep test about a half a mile south of this Evans. But we still have hopes, and I believe we shall be able to get two, or three hundred acres, taking in perhaps half of the Evans farm then North a strip on both sides the East line of block 37. If so and cannot get but half the Evans farm, I may want a reading to know which part to take but would judge from the reading we now have it would be the East side.

We will be busy today and tomorrow moving machine and tools on this ten well job then Mr. Benton will spend about all his time getting his acreage in shape then as soon as it is up and you have passed on the final location we will start one going down there, am hoping it will be soon after the first.

This ten well job we expect to make a little cash on. This man had a string of contractors after him for a month before I went to Ohio until I returned then he gave it to us for twenty five cents per foot on the drilling and thirty dollars for tower on drilling in, and setting the tubing and rods, more than at least a dozen others offered to do it for.

I can hardly wait until I can see one going down on that Evans farm but I am going to make sure every thing is right before we start, I will keep you posted from time to time.

Dear Mr. Cayce:-

We have driven a stake (Iron Stake deep into the ground) 150 feet from the East and South line in the South-east corner of the W. J. Evans tract mentioned in your reading of August 20th, 1924. This location is 500 paces to the West and North of an abandoned hole located on the Dembriskie Tract. Five hundred yards or paces would not bring this location in the Evans Tract as suggested in your reading.

We are now devoting practically all of our time in blocking this acreage and find that we will have no difficulty in securing the desired leases. Before closing for these leases we desire to make sure that we are securing the most desirable property.

Please advise us by night letter (Telegraph) if our stake is on the proper location if not where to set it.
