-
EC: Yes, we have the body here; this we have had before.
-
Improvements as we find are indicated, yet there needs be those tendencies more for BODY-BUILDING foods now in building up resistances to overcome the weaknesses and the tendencies for the separation in these conditions that have brought about the disturbance. For unless these are done, these may become so WEAKENED that by the least of the exercises or those of any unusual natures there may be brought about distresses again.
-
We would continue also with the activities for the massages that will keep the bringing of the STRENGTH to the superficial circulatory system, and make for a strengthening in the body.
-
Exercise in the open is preferable to just sitting or just resting in the shade.
-
For the vitality and the vitamins as are aided by the air are better for the body; not too much of sun, but walking and the like.
-
Do that.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Should further osteopathic treatments be given? (A) As has been indicated, these would be well to make for the corrections that we have indicated to exist in the lumbar and the sacral area. And sufficient of these should be given to make the corrections and COORDINATE same with the UPPER portions of the distributing centers in the system. These, if they are taken properly - or if the exercise is taken properly, and if the food values are for body-building - should be as a coordinating force for the whole of the body.
The food values should include all STRENGTHENING foods for the system; not merely the juices, soups or small quantities taken, but sufficient that there may be STRENGTH! Not overeating, of course, as to cause disturbance in the assimilations; but these should be as a coordinating force for the whole of the body - all working together.
-
(Q) Would the pulmotor pump be helpful? (A) No. Do not use same in this condition in the present.
-
(Q) Would the violet ray be helpful? (A) The violet ray will be helpful, provided there are those activities that make for sufficient assimilations that are helpful toward revitalizing the system.
You see, the violet ray is only an electrical vibration that coordinates the vibratory forces of the bodily functioning itself - which means the circulation as related to the nerve forces of the body. Then, to revitalize the old blood cells without new being builded makes for a deterioration quick with same and becomes detrimental rather than helpful.
But to have these to coordinate together, or to have the rebuilding and THEN the revitalizing, it is as the addition of strength to the body under such conditions.
- (Q) Please outline the proper foods for the body. (A) Mornings we would have whole crushed wheat about three times a week; this well-cooked. At other periods or days we would have citrus fruit juices, fresh; not those that are canned, see? For this body those of the preservatives that are in most are NOT so good.
The noon meals should consist of beef juice, or lamb stew with peas and carrots and potatoes and the like, or the juices of vegetables; and such as beans, lentils, peas, butterbeans, carrots - ALL of these.
Evening meals we should have lamb, fowl or such as these, with the vegetables that are of the nature such as beans, peas, cabbage, or of that type.
-
(Q) Should beef juices be given again, or Beef, Iron and Wine? (A) Beef juice in preference to Beef, Iron and Wine. Let the iron be rather taken in the foods, as it is more easily assimilated from the vegetable forces; and combining same with the vitamins from the sun will add to the violet ray effect upon the nerve and assimilating systems.
-
(Q) Should rubs be continued? (A) As has been indicated, these should be continued; especially from the waist down.
-
(Q) What laxative is best for the body? (A) The BEST laxative is to conduct the activities and the foods for the best. Those of a laxative nature would be rather as in Rhubarb, Colocynth and Calomel.
-
(Q) May anything be done to prevent the right foot from dragging? (A) Do the things as indicated if we would make for the proper activity and proper relationships, and a coordinating of the nerve and muscular forces of the body. Make for the corrections in the spine, making for those activities where the nerve and muscular forces coordinate.
-
(Q) Any advice or warning to those who wish to care for this body? (A) Take those things as has been given. Do these for the food values, for the activities, for the upbuilding of the bodily force itself.
-
We are through for the present.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 7/4/36 Daughter [288]‘s letter: “She is coming out of it all O.K. I think. The doctors are just amazed at the results of applying the suggestions from her readings.”
R2. 8/12/36 Miss [288]‘s letter:
Dear Dr. Grapes [Nona Grapes, N.D.]:-
My mother, while visiting us here about two months ago, had a slight stroke. As you will see from the copies of her readings I am sending, we worked with her day and night and were able to prevent the clot settling. Still, she is very weak, no appetite, and her limbs are achey. She is back in … now with my married sister there, and has probably been to see you - as from her last letter she wasn’t getting on so well and I had told her to go and see you and put herself under your care if she did not continue to improve. It worries me so because I can’t be with her and see that she has everything she needs. So, if it is at all possible, will you please give her the treatments she needs and send the bill to me? She worries so over finances, as my sister’s husband doesn’t have regular work and things are pretty hard with them. Still, it wasn’t pleasant for her here, as my brother and his wife have a new baby that has been real sick and Mama just couldn’t rest at all with a baby crying - which was most of the time.
I don’t mean to be burdening you with all my troubles, but I would appreciate your looking after Mama and writing me just what you think. As you will see, we have been giving her an oil rub every evening, but probably since she’s been back there it hasn’t been given exactly as it should be. If you can give her a treatment or two a week, gradually making the correction in the lower dorsal and lumbar, I believe she will begin improving and get strong again. She needs to build up an appetite and to eat strengthening foods. I think the trip home and the general letdown effect form all the strain she’s been under has caused this little backset.
You have done so much for Mrs. [394], and she has been in such a serious condition, that I know you can do worlds for Mama also. If it is not asking too much, please write me just how you think she is and what is necessary - how much you charge for a series of treatments, etc. Also if you will submit some questions for a Check Reading we will get it in at the first opportunity. I want to do everything possible to get Mama well again; she has done so much to help all of her children as well as other people, and I don’t want her to be an invalid the rest of her life.
