This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the home of David E. Kahn, 44 West 77th St., Apt. 14-W, New York City, this 29th day of April, 1936, in accordance with request made by the daughter - Mrs. […], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mr. [1113].
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mr. [1191]”s daughter and son-in-law.]
Time of Reading 3:40 to 4:00 P. M. Eastern Daylight Savings Time. …, N.Y. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have those conditions surrounding the body, [1191].
-
As we find, these are rather a complication of disturbances. Some have been of long standing, some have arisen from the old strains, old distresses in the physical forces of the body existing for long periods of time without the proper precautions or the proper measures being taken for corrections in their incipiency.
-
Thus this taxation has been brought to the nerve forces, the general depleting of the body, the incapacitating of the body in the physical and in the mental coordinations and activities throughout the system.
-
While we find these may be aided considerably, and there may be brought into the experience of the body helpful forces and influences, to say the body would be NORMAL again in these experiences would require a great change, a great activity that is not indicated even in the DESIRES of the body throughout the trials and the turmoils that have come into the experience.
-
The conditions have brought about those periods when the body becomes morose, when the body becomes in those actions that are beyond bringing physical help; and these are distressing to those influences that should be brought about, for even physical help or physical aid.
-
While there is the tendency for keeping some of those influences about the body that for periods bring more rest, and more applications that would create more a normal balance, we find there must be brought about first those influences that may create - by the very applications - the DESIRE on the part of the body for some application to be made that would MAKE for the helpful forces. These would be the necessary influences to create within the functionings themselves, before there may be a great deal of application, as we find, that would make even for periods of activity that would become as an experience for a great deal of helpfulness for the body.
-
Hence, as we would find in the present circumstance, we would only add the low forms of vibratory forces that may create the reactions through the system as to make for better coordinations in the functioning of organs, as related to the circulatory forces, the functioning of the forces of the body in the secretions from the glandular forces as may supply to the nerve energies of the system itself better reactory forces.
-
These then may bring, in a few weeks or a few months, a helpful force. If the body then RESPONDS to same, there may be given then - through the very desires of the body itself, when the influences are created within that would make for the forces to be the more helpful, that which would be as a helpful force for the body.
-
We would use, then, for at least two periods, the low form of electro-vibrations in the Wet Cell Appliance that would carry Chloride of Gold for a week and then Nitrate of Silver for a week; the VIBRATIONS of these solutions carried to the body, not the elements taken internally. Through these charges, as we find, there would be created that environ in the mental and physical forces that may make for the abilities within the body to create, to bring about, to make the desires within self sufficient to become the more helpful.
-
The attachments would be made in this manner:
-
The first week, the attachments would be made each day for twenty minutes. The smaller plate would be attached first, to the 2nd and 3rd dorsal center, or to the sympathetic plexus that radiates from the heart’s activity through the creating of an influence in the vibratory activity of the assimilation in the lacteal or the umbilicus center. So, the larger plate, passing through the Chloride of Gold Solution (one grain to one ounce of distilled water), would be attached last, to the lacteal or umbilicus center - close to the gall duct area.
-
The next week the first plate or anode attached would be at the 4th lumbar, to the lower plexus - to the locomotary plexus that aids in the locomotion, in the activity of the adrenals and their secretions for helpful forces in the system; while the other larger plate, passing through the Nitrate of Silver Solution (10% solution), would be attached last - to the umbilicus center the same as the other. Twenty minutes each day.
-
These, then, would make for a helpful influence in the mental and nerve forces and the activities upon the glands of the system.
-
Use these, of course, in different solutions - or different leads for same.
-
Alternate the applications each week as indicated. And recharge these for the period, or after the period of thirty-six days. And then, when these two completions have been made, we would give further instructions.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Should the Gold solution be used for a week and then the Silver for a week? (A) Use the Gold for a week, then the Silver for a week; and continue to alternate until those periods that have been indicated - when reactions will gradually take place, and we may give further instructions.
The desires in the surroundings, the hopeful and helpful forces within the body-functions must be altered and changed, to be helpful in a full, constructive way for the body.
-
(Q) Can you recommend any special doctors? (A) These applications suggested may be made better at home than under even the doctors; though, as it is seen, it is necessary at times to have those ministrations from the medical forces for the staying, or the bringing about of relief. But these as suggested may be applied in the home. Then, when necessary to have those to come in, use those that may be had for such.
-
(Q) Can you tell us if he will be cured by using these applications? (A) As we have indicated, to be helpful even there must be created a desire in the body itself that it WANTS to be helped, see?
As to what these reactions may be, remember - each individual soul is a law in itself, as related to its Creative Force and as to prognostication - we find these as suggested offer the channel for helpfulness. As to whether they will or not depends upon the influence created by same.
- (Q) What is this condition he has? (A) As indications have been given, it is a combination of many different influences that have been activative in the forces of the body. It couldn’t be called any one!
Do these, and then we may give the other instructions.
- We are through for the present.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. GD’s note: We never knew just what Mr. [1191]‘s trouble was, though we got the impression from the readings that he was at least partially paralyzed. Unable to walk, etc.
R2. 5/7/36 Mr. [1113]‘s letter to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce Association for Research & Development Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce:
During your recent visit to New York, under date of April 29th you gave a reading for Mr. [1191], the father of our telephone operator, Mrs. […].
In this reading it was recommended that the body apply daily for twenty minutes for a period of thirty-six days, wet Appliance Batteries containing Chloride of Gold and Nitrate of Silver.
Mr. [1191]‘s condition, which has existed for a great many years, is a very serious one and whereas it is my absolute belief that your recommendations will give him considerable relief, it seems almost impossible for Mrs. […] to purchase these batteries to give her father the relief that is so much desired. She earns $22.00 weekly and practically an entire week’s salary was given up for this reading which I tried to discourage, in view of the expense involved. Since it is almost impossible for her to expend very much more in giving her father the treatments suggested by you, would it be possible to rent these batteries at a very nominal cost, or have you some other suggestion whereby Mr. […] can be benefitted through these treatments without too great a cost to Mrs. […] who must necessarily pay all expenses in this matter.
I know you will do whatever is possible in this connection, for which I assure you I shall be very appreciative.
Sincerely yours, [1113]
R3. 5/26/36 [1113]‘s letter: Referring further to the [1191] reading which you gave when you were in New York, I have received word from the Health Home Remedies Corp. that the price of the Wet Cell Appliance recommended by you is
25.00 and the solutions and containers are3.00 extra, making a total of28.00. They further advise that they do not rent these appliances but that in this particular instance they will permit the individual to pay14.00 at the time same is shipped and the balance in monthly payments of5.00 for a period of two months and4.00 the third month.I am very appreciative of your efforts in this connection, but I am wondering whether in the numerous readings you have given there is not someone in New York City to whom you recommended the use of these gold and silver Wet cell Batteries. If you will give me the names and addresses of several of these people it is just possible that in contacting them they will be willing to enter into an arrangement with Mr. [1191] whereby they will rent these batteries to him if they no longer have use for them.
I trust I am not taking undue advantage of causing you any inconveniences, but I am particularly interested in this case because of the desire to be helped and the lack of funds.
Trusting to hear from you soon, and with kind personal regards, I remain, [1113]
R4. 6/3/36 EC’s letter to [1113]:
Mr. […] New York City
Dear. Mr. [1113]:-
Please pardon me for the delay in answering yours of the 26th sooner. I have been trying, however, to locate a Wet Cell Appliance in New York that would be obtainable and suitable for Mr. [1191]. The only one there that I think you MIGHT be able to get would have to be altered some, as it is not exactly the type appliance suggested for Mr. [1191] - and this would take several dollars. I wish I knew just what to advise you. Of course, I have nothing to do with the management of the Health Home Remedies Corp. It is only recently that we have been able even to have such appliances made up according to the suggestions given in the readings, at any price. The Corporation has no research fund as yet; consequently, it is not in a position to stock up on materials required in order to rent the appliances; because each appliance (of the Wet Cell type) has to be made differently, according to the individual requirements, and the materials are expensive - besides the labor involved.
Under the circumstances, I do not know what to advise you regarding Mr. [1191]. I would NOT ADVISE, however, your obtaining or using a Wet Cell Appliance that is not made exactly according to the specifications.
I’ll be glad to give you the name and address of the individual there who has the Appliance that I think you might rent or borrow, for the time being, but it would have to be sent to Health Home Remedies Corp. to be put into shape according to the directions given specifically for Mr. [1191].
I appreciate your interest and your writing me. If it were possible I would gladly contribute the amount necessary to buy the Appliance for Mr. [1191], but - as you know - I am hardly able to keep up my own personal expenses in order to carry on the work I am doing.
Appreciating your desire also to help your fellowman, and with kindest personal regards - hoping you will let me hear from you, I am
Sincerely, ASS’N FOR RESEARCH & ENLIGHTENMENT, INC. [EC:GD]
P.S. We would appreciate a report from any of the others who have had readings through your suggestion, as to just how far they have been able to follow the instructions and get results. GD
R5. 6/9/36 Dr. House’s letter:
Mr. […] New York, N.Y.
Dear Mr. […]:
We have a memorandum from Mr. Cayce requesting that we write you regarding the reconditioning of a Wet Cell Appliance for use in Mr. [1191]‘s case.
These Appliances require a considerable amount of care in order to keep them in good condition. Here are several points to notice in looking over one that has been used. Notice whether or not the rods which extend down into the solution of the appliance are eaten or corroded. This solution contains sulphuric acid and unless the rods are properly cleaned each time that the appliance is recharged they will be rendered useless by the action of the acid. Be sure that the top fits snugly on the crock and is not warped or eaten by the acid on the under side. Notice the Anodes which are fastened to the body to see if they are corroded or rusted by the action of the acids of the body. Be sure that the tips which are fastened to the wires are not rusted. Notice the wires to see if there are any places where the insulation has worn off allowing them to become grounded.
We shall be more than glad to cooperate with you in any way possible and if we can be of further service kindly let us know.
Yours very truly, HEALTH HOME REMEDIES CORPORATION T. B. HOUSE
R6. 6/12/36 EC wrote Mr. [1113] to see if he could obtain an Appliance from Mrs. [255], who had obtained one for use for a member of her family and perhaps now it was not being used.
R7. 11/3/36 Daughter’s wire: “An immediate check reading is necessary for [1191]. Would you earnestly try to give this reading on Thursday November fifth between 3-4 o’clock P.M. Wire collect today if possible to do this to [1113] …, N.Y. Appreciate.”
