This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 7th day of January, 1939, in accordance with request made by the self”s mother - Mrs. [1348], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will go over this body carefully, giving the physical condition at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions that may be submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, [1215].

3. There continues to be improvement in the ability of the activity, as well as the general physical condition; and the general attitude of the body keeps on the improve.

4. We would keep ALL of those suggestions that have been indicated for this body; keeping the corrective forces in the stimulating of the nerve ends as have been aroused to activity through the correcting of impulse centers in ganglia along the cerebrospinal system.

5. DO NOT overtax or so tire the body by attempted activity as to break down too much of the impulse which has been created. Yet there needs be sufficient of the exercise, that has been a part of the activity, to insure the greater strengthening of the muscular forces and the activity of that portion of the locomotory actions as has been begun.

6. Do these, and as we find we may keep the better influences for this body.

7. Ready for questions.

8. (Q) Is everything being done that should be done for him? (A) As indicated, we would keep all of those things that have been outlined.

R1. 2/5/39 Letter from [1215]‘s mother [1348]: ”…The appliance you sent me was received some time ago, and I certainly owe you a letter of explanation in the subject.

“When it first came we has a substitute nurse for a while, and my son wanted to wait until the regular nurse came back.

“The last few weeks I have been trying to induce him to continue the use of the appliance, but since he has grown so much stronger he feels he no longer needs it. He is 19 years old and feels his judgement or wishes should be respected.

“We have never used the appliance you sent me, so I have packed it carefully and returned it by parcel post…”

R2. 2/11/39 GD’s letter to [1215]‘s mother [1348]: ”…The Secretary of The Health Home Remedies Corporation has mailed to me your letter to them of the 5th, saying that [1215] has decided to discontinue the use of the Radio-Active Appliance.

“I am VERY sorry to hear this, because I feel sure this part of the treatment is important in equalizing the impulses created by the osteopathic manipulations. Since he has shown such a great improvement through following Mr. Cayce’s directions through his readings, it would be a pity for him to drop part of the treatment now. We have always found that ALL of the treatments given in the readings work TOGETHER for the good of the body, and one part of it without the other does not have the same beneficial result.

“It is not my desire to ‘meddle’ but we are so happy over [1215]‘s improvement, and I just want to urge you to urge him to carry out every part of the treatment TO THE LETTER. The readings have suggested only two things consistently, - the osteopathic treatments AND the Appliance; so I feel sure it is for his good that BOTH be applied.

“Trusting you will read this letter in the spirit with which it is sent, and with very kindest regards to you and yours…”

R3. 2/16/39 Letter from [1215]‘s mother [1348]: ”…I was glad to hear from you, and I had intended writing Mr. Cayce on this subject, so will you please show him this letter?

“[1215] was urged very strongly to continue with the appliance and it is hard to understand his attitude, for it is the ONLY thing of all his routine he has shown consistent impatience about. He is patient and methodical about all of the things he has to do - and they are many - so it is surprising he should be so irritated at this one thing.

“He says to tell you he feels he gets the equivalent of the appliance in his daily physiotherapy treatment. That consists in giving him vibrations, not by machine, but by the person giving the treatment. His osteopath, who comes once a week, also does this personal vibrating. So he feels that while he isn’t using the appliance that was recommended, he is still carrying out the spirit of the plan.

“You may not agree with this, but if the appliance, instead of causing calm, produces a state of irritation and impatience, it has lost the purpose it was intended for.

“I am sorry this is so, for I have always taken the appliance as something that was necessary and beneficial, and I am at a loss to know where his attitude comes from.

“It just happened that after the appliance has to be returned for repairs and he was several weeks without it, it was in that time he made some of his most noticeable progress. We are happy about the gains he has made in the past two months and have great hopes for the future…”

R4. 5/24/39 Letter from [1215]‘s mother [1348]: ”…Will you please give [1215] a check reading? We have come to a point where various decisions have to be made, things which involve the plans of the whole family, and I should certainly feel a relief if some of these things were confirmed by your reading.

“[1215] is much stronger in every way, and has much increased his activities. He could lead a fairly normal life were he able to get himself about, and he is naturally impatient for the day to come when he can walk again. He is calm and good natured, but he is certainly more ambitious than he has ever been, and begins to think in terms of taking his place in the world as an adult. He is now nineteen.

“Would you be so kind as to do this right away for us? [1215] is ALWAYS here in the morning and I shall arrange to be any time you set, so you need not wait for any confirmation of time on my part.

“Wish I might come down to the meetings next month, but there are many reasons why it isn’t possible…”

R5. 5/30/39 Letter from [1215]‘s mother [1348]: ”…[1215] is fairly obsessed with this California idea - he has never wanted anything so strongly. Otherwise, he has been the most contented person imaginable. Of course, it shows vigor he hasn’t had for a long time. We hate to have him go so far away, but after four years, it seems he is entitled to do what his heart is so set on.

“His sister [1367] is only a year older but a very capable girl, and they are as devoted as the ideal twins.

“Having to consider several people’s plans, the 7th will be too late to get an answer from you, so I think it wiser to ask you for a reading upon [1215]‘s return. Maybe you are BUSY, but it is a good sign for the work, nevertheless…”

R6. 10/24/39 Letter from [1215]‘s mother [1348]: “My daughter [1367] and I have been home several weeks now, after spending about two months in California.

“You will be glad to hear [1215] is steadily improving and instead of coming home with us, decided to spend the winter in San Jose. The climate is more equable there than any place I have ever known, and people are out of doors all the year round.

“It seems to me the time is right for another reading, and I would like to ask you to give the one we postponed from last June.

“It is hard to explain the tremendous advance [1215] has made spiritually. He is by far the youngest at the clinic [200 N. Bascom St.] and the most helpless (it is a clinic for chronic diseases) yet people marvel at his poise and under standing and feel he is an example to them all.

“He is a merry one at the same time and he never lacks for company…”

“P.S. [1215] never leaves the clinic and would be there any time you gave him the reading.

“Questions: 1. In view of the changes at the clinic would it be best for [1215] to stay there or put himself under Dr. Walder’s care? 2. Is the new doctor as efficient as the other one? 3. What about Dr. Frensson? 4. Should [1215] stay indefinitely out there? 5. Have you any suggestions to make?”
