This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 26th day of October, 1939, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. [1348], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with suggestions for further corrective measures; answering the questions which have been submitted, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes.

3. Now as we find, there is continued improvement in the physical, as well as in the mental attitudes of the body.

4. We find that the present surroundings and environments are most conducive to better conditions. The whole atmosphere is good.

5. There needs to be kept much of that which has been indicated for this body, if there would be the continuation of the coordinating of the nerve ends that have been delayed and subjugated in their activity.

6. Then, we would keep the present environs for the periods especially through the coming next three to six months. These as we find would be the better for this body.

7. Ready for questions.

8. (Q) Is the new doctor as efficient as the other one? (A) As we find, if there is the proper approach, just as efficient, just as helpful; and may be made MORE so if there will be the suggestions that the mechanics of the body (osteopathic methods) be brought into play in making better outlining for improvements.

9. (Q) What about Dr. Fransson? (A) As indicated, the present environs are the better.

10. (Q) Have you any other suggestions? (A) Just keep those attitudes and those determinations to make the opportunities, that are being afforded through the activities, the most helpful influence in the experiences of all who may know or contact the body. As he helps others, he will help himself.

Dear Mr. Sugrue:

Through the courtesy of Miss Davis and her thoughtfulness for my son, I had the privilege of reading “The Man on the Cross.” It is beautifully conceived, beautifully thought out and well executed. It carries a poetic touch that is charming. My congratulations!

I am much interested in knowing what is being done for you and, if you know of my son’s experience, you will grasp my understanding sympathy. You have my best wishes and I am glad you are among sympathetic friends.

In this envelope I am enclosing copies of our SCRATCH PAD. I am wondering if I have nerve enough to ask permission to use your article in a forthcoming issue. This, you understand, is a house magazine that goes out to about 10,700 strong and, we gather from our customers, has a reading range of five or six times that number. We do not solicit contributions; we more or less decline them. I shall be glad to hear from you.

R2. 11/6/39 GD’s letter to [1215]‘s father:

Dear Mr. […] [[1215]‘s father]:

Mr. Sugrue has asked me to tell you that it will be perfectly alright for you to use his article “The Man On the Cross”* in your SCRATCH PAD. It is only necessary that you add: Reprinted from the Naugatuck Press, Naugatuck, Conn., by permission of the author. You see, he wrote it for his home town paper, by way of letting the home folks know how he was getting along; and I was so touched by the thoughts expressed in it that I asked him to let me stencil it to send to some of our members whom I felt would be interested.

I am enclosing another copy, in case you have sent the other one to [1215]… Also under separate cover I am sending his little pamphlet, entitled “There Is A River,” being the preface to his book on the Life and Work of Edgar Cayce - which he is now preparing, aided by Mr. Cayce’s son.

Tom asks me to tell you that he is getting well. Nerves that were destroyed by high electricity are being rebuilt, by the use of a Wet Cell Appliance carrying alternately solutions of Chloride of Gold, Atomidine and Camphor, - also, in the beginning, Nitrate of Silver. Most of the other treatments, I believe, are mentioned in his article.

Perhaps you would like to print a little something of his history along with the article. He was a reporter on The Herald-Tribune, then became a “foot-loose” reporter for the American Magazine, - they sent him around the world and he wrote travelogue articles which were printed in the American for several months. Shortly after returning from abroad he was made Assistant Associate Editor of The American Magazine, but became ill and was unable to do the work. The Magazine sent him to Florida for a year, then he came here. Since he has been ill he has finished his first novel, “First Communion” which will soon be published, and now he is writing the book on Mr. Cayce’s life. In his spare time he reviews books for The Herald-Tribune, and writes free-lance articles on almost any subject. His Christmas poem will appear in the Christmas issue of The American Magazine (January issue which comes out in December). This is just to give you a general idea.

We are so happy that [1215]…is nicely situated and getting along so well. We are looking forward to the time when he can spend some time at Virginia Beach, - perhaps next summer. I believe he would like it here, and - according to his Life Reading [1215-4] and past associations - I believe the personal contact with Mr. Cayce would be fine for him.

P.S. We all enjoyed the SCRATCH PADS so much! No wonder [1215]‘s Life Reading said he had the ability to write; he comes by that ability very naturally!

“It was a happy thought for you to enclose that writing by Mr. Sugrue. How beautifully he expresses himself and what a fine appreciative nature he must have.

“I have sent it on to [1215] and I hope he will want to make some answer. He has recently started writing verses. This is a sample.”

“MY FAMILY” [By 1215]

The family that I am privileged to be in is plenty alright My dear father through his wise wisdom has kept us from plight. My sweet mother through her great understanding has tried to lead us along the right way. My sister, brother and I have tried to adhere and not go astray.

We three children give thanks to our dear Lord That it was these two entities He placed here to give us our room and board. Now is the time for us of their great kindnesses to realize Do for them now, so after they have gone, over things undone we won’t agonize.
