This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 13th day of August, 1936, in accordance with request made by the self - through Mr. [333], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

Time of Reading 4:00 to 4:10 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Washington, D.C. (Physical Suggestion)

1. EC: Yes. The conditions are as we find as has been indicated.

2. There is the necessity, to be sure, of the body taking when under great pain the easing ingredients or drug; for this would become so overburdening as to destroy any effect of those properties as has been indicated.

3. But when these are followed, as we find the better conditions SHOULD result.

4. Ready for questions.

5. (Q) Is the Anacin alright to take, or what other sedatives would be better to relieve pain? (A) Anacin is alright, or even stronger, or Luminal - any of these. But it is necessary, as indicated, for this to be taken to ease the pain at times.

6. (Q) Would it be best to discontinue the use of laxatives? (A) Eliminate laxatives as much as possible. Better if the proper manner of colonic irrigations are used. And that is to have the water the temperature of the body, and to use a soda-saline solution. And as we find the more preferable is the elevator - Tyrrell’s elevator. Or the tube with the Fountain Syringe is good, but the elevator is preferable if possible. The proper proportions would be, to each gallon of water add a heaping teaspoonful of soda and a level teaspoonful of salt.

7. (Q) The body feels too weak to stand enemas. (A) Enemas are not straining if taken properly. They are preferable, much preferable, much more easy upon the body than so much laxatives that only take from the system the vitality that should be strengthening in lymph circulation.

For an eliminant, ANY eliminant, is an exciting of the mucous membranes to activity.

8. (Q) Where and in what form can salsify be procured at this season of the year? (A) Very soon it may be procured regularly. Or it may be procured through the Libby - McNeil [?] & Libby, as preserved or canned.

9. (Q) What time of day would be best to use the battery appliance? (A) Just before the body is ready to rest of evening.

10. (Q) Please give at this time detailed diet schedule for this body. (A) This has been outlined oft for the body. The body has had experience in the variations, and those things that - as indicated - make for the building of certain influences, let these be a portion of the diet each day. Those that are body-building but that keep close to an alkalin condition are preferable.

R1. 8/23/36 Mr. [333]‘s letter: “Friend [1242] and his loving wife are both cooperating with the information in every way. The battery was set up the day it arrived and put into use the day following. [1242] finds the treatment with the Silver Nitrate solution very soothing - it puts him to sleep and gives him rest. He also finds the rubs very quieting and he just loves to have them. He has been taking the rubs and the foods suggested since the day the reading arrived. They appreciated the check rdg. and the help that it gave.

“[1242] says that he feels better than he did a week ago, but would feel stronger if he could eat more. He says that the condition is spreading to his throat and that the effort to swallow is torture…

“Dr. Ada Wahlen [D.C.] responded beautifully to my request that she mark [1242]‘s body for the attachments and has offered to help in any way she can. She would accept nothing for her services.”

R2. 8/23/36 P.M. Mr. [333] and Mr. [1242]‘s wife phoned for a ck. rdg.

R3. 8/24/36 Mr. [333]‘s letter: “The balance to cover the Associate Membership for [1242] is enclosed.

“He appreciates so much the effort you are making to help him. He knows nothing about such work but is willing to go on fighting this disease that is eating him up quite rapidly now.

“He is one of the victims of our social, economic and industrial set-up and everything material has been taken away. He and his loyal and loving wife and two fine children are living in one of Washington’s many rooming houses. [GD’s note: See opening sentence in 1242-1 - “That’s one of the white ones”? perhaps referring to living quarters for white and colored?] They have one room where they all sleep, eat and live with a closet for a cook stove.

“He is fighting to live, pay his debts and carry on working when he can stand the strain. The boys here [at the office] play along with him. No record is kept of the time he works or does not work and this gives them a little to carry on. Please keep hoping and praying and doing your wonderful work for him.” With love to all, [333]
