IS WITHIN SPACE CLEARED NEAR CENTER THOUGH CLOSER TO BLOCK FOUND NEW CUT BRANCH MANGROVE WITH BROKEN TWIG ARE WITHIN THREE FEET OF THAT SOUGHT. EDGAR CAYCE. COLLECT.

R2. 1/31/28 [943]‘s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce:

I wired you last Saturday night [1/28/28? No copy on file] with reference to the Treasure at Broad Creek Channel. We have been down there since last Thursday morning [1/26/28] returning last night. Every six inches of the forty feet square was probed and a cofferdam was built on location as near as we could figure the exact location from the description given down to the bed rock and we probed over the other part down to the hard rock. We did everything suggested in the reading and worked hard particularly with the sandfleas and they were millions and very hungry. Would like to have the following information before we try it again: Number of feet and direction the treasure is located from the cofferdam built last week. Is Treasure resting on the solid rock about four feet down. What kind of container is the gold in and is it still intact. Give exact size of each of the containers and give some indication that we may know when it is found by probing. Will it be necessary to build a cofferdam around the entire forty foot square feet. Any other information that will be necessary in the finding of this treasure.

I returned from the location last Saturday evening and wired you and returned Sunday evening to the location and returning here last night. If you will give me the information we are going to find this treasure - I believe that it is there and if all the above questions are answered that it will enable us to do the necessary. So, if you can get the reading to me this week we will leave immediately to start the operations again upon receipt of your reading. Received the wire from Mrs. Cayce saying you were in Alabama.

Do your best to get the information to me this week Mr. Cayce and we will do the rest.

R3. 2/9/28 [943]‘s letter to EC:

Miami, Florida.

Mr. Edgar Cayce, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Va.

Dear Mr. Cayce:

We are very anxious to work out the proposition at Broad Creek Channel while I have some help to do it and would appreciate a reading covering questions asked in my letter of several days ago. I know that you will give the reading as soon as you can but I thought that I would write you just how I am situated. The time has come when I must get busy at something and I wanted to devote the rest of this month in trying to locate the treasure and if Bacon [C. I. Bacon] does not get over the oil arrangements in Louisiana [[4203] series] I must get out of here somewhere so that I can make a living. I would like to have a life reading sometime soon as to just what I should do with reference to the future.

[2671] has made an assignment of all his interest to a finance company and is not taking care of his creditors which he should have done. With The Southern Bank and Trust Company’s failure here the other day has placed the financial conditions in Miami in very bad shape as the above bank was the third largest bank in the City. Since that time two other banks have closed their doors. We have had it bad enough but this will almost break the Camel’s back.

We have done some real work on trying to locate the treasure and feel that we will when given a little further information. There is one question that I did not ask and that is - is the gold in coin or in bullion form, and did we find part of the chest in the old pieces of iron found near where we sank cofferdam. If the treasure is there it is on the rock bottom, and would be hard to locate unless a cofferdam is built around the entire forty square feet.

I trust that you are making rapid progress with your hospital and that you and your family are enjoying good health.
