R1. 3/12/28 Mr. [943]‘s ltr. to EC:
Mr. Edgar Cayce, Virginia Beach, Va.
Dear Mr. Cayce:
We spent all last week and part of the week before trying to locate the treasure at Broad Creek channel and it seems impossible to find it as we followed information given as closely as it is possible for human being to do. We built a coffer dam around about three fourth of the forty square feet and with shovels and buckets bailed out the mud and water [See Source File Key #1274 for hand drawn map re 1274-14, Par. R1] down to hard rock. Something seems to be wrong and I would like for you to give another reading on it to see just what is missing. I feel that we are entitled to this one because we have done so much work on it and I still feel that it is there. Parties that has [have?] been working with me are very much disheartened and I can’t blame them. I thought that if you would give another reading that I would go there myself without the aid of anyone else and see what effect that would have if any. I would suggest that the question be along the following lines:
“You have before you the buried treasure near Broad Creek Channel, Monroe County, Florida, on which you have given information that the treasure would be found near the center of a forty square feet space using a location where a block was found as the South East corner. Almost three fourths of this space has been excavated down to hard rock and balance of space thoroughly probed down to the rock and nothing found. Will you give the reason why [943] has been unable to locate the treasure according to information given and if information given is correct where the error was made. Is it possible to give more detail information how to locate it and what to do to follow out instructions as given.”
I will make one more attempt at trying to locate it, Mr. Cayce, if you will furnish me with another reading along the lines as above and if you can suggest anything more that would get us what we want add to the above suggestion. I still believe in the information and would like to prove this. Please give a reading this week if possible.
With kindest personal regard
Sincerely, [943]
