This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 12th day of March, 1937, in accordance with request made by the self - through Mr. [333], Active Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 11:20 to 11:30 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Md. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body, [1280].
-
As we find, there are not so much improvements in the general physical forces of the body as there should be; or as might have been expected.
-
But there is, as we find, some confusion as to the applications - and the applications for the effects, while they have retarded the progress of the malignant condition, have not even acted always as palliatives for the conditions.
-
These are the conditions as we find to be reckoned with in the present.
-
There have been irritations and the use of properties carrying mercury in forms that have aggravated the condition. Thus there has been produced rather a condition where the disorder has set up an ability for segregating or breaking down cellular force within itself - or a malignant condition.
-
Operative measures as once applied only made for partial removal and yet with the general condition of the system, the inability of the body to produce the coagulating forces necessary to supply sufficient of the leucocyte or the warring forces to check the activities of the ingrowing, or of the live active forces of conditions, has allowed greater inroads to be made into the tissue.
-
As we find, confusion arises from the various forms of activity applied.
-
There must be, then, the choice by the body, and those about same, as to the better course to pursue.
-
To be sure, operative measures now - by removing a portion of the intestine or making incisions for outlets in other portions of the body - would be very serious, and would only prolong the agony and prolong life as it were for the body for a time.
-
Hence the better conditions would be those to act as palliatives and to check the inroads in the conditions, under the extreme distress and disturbance that has grown or been allowed to become a portion of the body.
-
In the present, as we find, it would be preferable - under the existent conditions - to use the ultra-violet rather than the violet ray; in fact, this would be the more necessary. This would be applied about three time a week, but not for too long a period - not more than a minute, or less if it produces too great an irritation.
-
Just about three to five minutes before using the ultra-violet, we would take internally one-eighth grain of the Animated Ash; that it may be activative upon the circulation, by the immediate application of the ultra-violet - which would be applied over the very lower portions of the cerebrospinal system.
-
Also before the ultra-violet is applied we would use an ointment for the area in the rectum, made from a combination of Iodex and Animated Ash. To one ounce of the Iodex mix VERY THOROUGHLY three and one-half grains of the Animated Ash. Under the existing conditions we find this is preferable to either the use of the Tim or of other ointments that have been used.
-
The baths, the rubs and the conditions as has been given - as to the diets - are well to keep. Keep an alkalin-reacting diet. Keep as quiet as possible.
-
These as we find offer the better help for the body. Though they may not be able to bring about (dependent upon the reaction) and eradication or elimination entirely, they should bring ease and help - if they are applied properly.
-
The rubs, the massage, the baths should be kept in their regular order.
-
These we would use.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What causes discharge from rectum? (A) Just as has been indicated, the activity of the forces as destroy tissue in same.
-
(Q) Should treatments with the Wet Cell Appliance be continued, and are these treatments being taken as prescribed? (A) These are well to keep a balance and a stimulation to the circulation, which as we have indicated is deficient in supplying the nutriment necessary for the proper ability for the blood to produce greater amounts of coagulating forces and warriors in same. The diet also as indicated will be helpful for the strengthening of the body.
Of course, quantities of the Beef Juice would be well; taken very slowly; and at times Ventriculin to produce more of the coagulative forces; quantities of the citrus fruit juices and the like; these are preferable to great amounts of heavy foods, so that the assimilation and the activity and the vitality and the virility of those influences from the active forces may be easily assimilated and easily evacuated from the system as the inroads become less and less and the active forces more and more certain.
-
(Q) The ointment known as “Vupercanal” being used, is this helpful or harmful? (A) As has been indicated, if there will be the use of the ointment indicated, this will be preferable to either the Tim or the Vupercanal.
-
(Q) Any other advice? (A) These as we find in the present offer the better conditions for this body, [1280].
Choose as to which course is to be followed. But these are very serious conditions to be reckoned with, and they are making violent inroads to be sure upon the body. The great pain that is caused undermines, to be sure, the mental and physical forces as to resistances. Hence at times, under the direction of the physician, a hypnotic is to be preferred - not narcotic.
- We are through with this reading.

Reports & Follow-up
R1. 3/16/37 Mr. [333]‘s letter asked about Ventriculin, whether plain or with iron, dosage, what was meant by hypnotic: “The poor soul certainly needs help, sympathy and love. We seem to be able to help her a lot and she appreciates what we do so much.”
R2. 3/17/37 Mr. [333]‘s letter: “Mrs. [1280] swears she has not been taking anything outside of ‘Migrin’ [?] to relieve the pain. Do you know whether this drug contains mercury?”
R3. 3/19/37 EC’s letter advised Ventriculin plain, a teaspoonful separately from the beef juice. “A hypnotic is like Luminal [phenobarbitol]; think this is one of the better known ones and she should have no trouble in getting a doctor to get it for her.”
R4. 3/20/37 EC’s reply advised that the mercury may have been given a long time ago, or it may have been the basis of something given her recently, or it might be a combination of something producing that effect in the system. “I feel that it is the multiplicity of things that have hurt her the most.”
R5. 12/28/37 Mr. [333]‘s letter: “You may remember Mrs. [1280] on whom readings were given a year or more ago who lived across the street from us here. She passed on yesterday morning at 7 o’clock. She had been a terrible sufferer for several weeks. She gave up following the treatments given in the readings several months ago and took up some naturopathic doctrine.”
