This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 14th day of March, 1940, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [1298], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. GC: You will have before you the entity [1298], named at birth […] born Dec. 10, 1892, in East Smethport, Penna., and the Life Reading given for her thru this channel on Nov. 27, 1936. This entity, now at … Pl., B’klyn, N.Y., seeks information, advice and guidance as to her life and work. You will answer the questions, as I ask them:

2. EC: Yes, we have the body, the enquiring mind of the entity, [1298]; and the information as indicated in the experiences of this entity.

3. Ready for questions.

4. (Q) Should I go into the teaching field as a profession? (A) As we find, as has been indicated for the entity, this is a channel or outlet for the entity, in which as it gives out to others it will itself be more and more enlightened and conscious of those great truths which AWAKEN the consciousness of others.

We would NOT give away or resign other activities in the immediate, but rather - in the preparation of tenets, thoughts, lectures, counsels - begin to give of self in various groups, various places where opportunity permits; and thus prepare self within the next year for the whole time activity in teaching, lecturing, admonishing others.

5. (Q) How should I go about getting into the teaching field of the Christ message, and cosmic laws? (A) Hasn’t it just been given?

6. (Q) Should I start in a very small way entirely dependent on my own under divine guidance, or become connected with a large center which is well established? (A) As just indicated, wherever the opportunity permits; and with the first or second of such activities there will be the forming naturally of groups, classes, to which the entity would gradually give so much time each week, as it prepares itself for the greater activity.

7. (Q) Would it be advisable to go to school and become an ordained minister? (A) This as we find is not necessarily the better way, though if the activities are such that this manner or way seems to be the better approach, then hide not that way.

Rather, be led by the spirit IN such; as ye would trust and believe in others being led to self in the teachings.

Do not proclaim to others that ye do not practise in thy own experience!

8. (Q) Would it be advisable to go to Capetown, So. Africa this summer? (A) Do the activities as in the better preparation lead to such? If so, very well. If there is NOT the use of same as stepping-stones for greater opportunities and possibilities, no.

9. (Q) Should I continue writing the book which I am calling “The Power of The Word”? (A) This should continue to grow in the experience.

10. (Q) When would it be most advisable to start this teaching? (A) NOW - at once!

11. (Q) Have I ever taught before, and if so, where and when? (A) Analyzing of the information which has been given as to the varied experiences, we will find that the entity taught, or DIRECTED the teachings and activities that come in the same category of that same activity in the present which will arouse in the experience the greater awakening. Yes. Analyze it from that which has been given, as to the Indo-China, as well as the experiences in the orient - as in portions of what is now Japan, as well as in the land of the present nativity.

12. (Q) Any other advice that will be helpful at this time? (A) Only as has been indicated.

Study always to show self approved unto that ideal which is set in thy own consciousness, thy own determination; and analyze what is the source of thy ideal, - physical, mental and spiritual. These activities bring that union of help and strength as will enable the entity to be the greater, the better channel for blessings to others.

R1. 3/15/40 “My reading was extremely disappointing. It left me just where I was, as it didn’t tell me one thing not already known to me. It was all so vague and superficial. I had so hoped for definite guidance. I’ve done just what I am told regarding occasional lectures, etc. with no results. It seems to me as tho the reading was just facts taken from my own bewildered subconscious.”

R2. 3/19/40 Letter from [1298]: ”…I would like very much to see you when you are in N.Y. I wrote you regarding the reading, as I said, it was most disappointing to me, perhaps together something more than I could discern can be made of it.”

R4. 2/10/43 [1298]‘s letter to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Inclosed please find two dollars for two copies of “A Search For God”. I read the copy which was purchased by my cousin [873], and found it priceless. Just as my Life Reading cleared up so many things for me, so does this book. I am going to send one to an acquaintance in California, and wish I could afford to send many many copies to persons of my acquaintance.

Mr. Cayce will you please see that I am on the mailing list of events connected with the Psychic Research Center. One other thing which I have wanted to write you for some time. In your kindness, and honesty of heart you have written to some of the persons, I have wanted to help by recommending a Reading, and paid me kind compliments. Sad to relate it had the opposite impression from which you have intended, they immediately became suspicious of my motive, and distrusted us both, thinking we are in partnership and that you share the fee with me - may God help them. You have helped me to bless everyone, and go on “Not my will but Thy will be done.”

Sometimes to do so takes strength which would have otherwise have been beyond me. The Reading you gave me is the most priceless blue print, and I feel I have grown since trying to pattern my life after it.

R5. 2/26/43 “Many thanks for the two books [A SEARCH FOR GOD] which you sent.

“I am sending $10 given me by Mrs. [1474] for 10 more, she is giving the money as part of her tithing, so I can send them to various persons. This book would certainly help one to a mastership. You will be surprised to learn that I dreamed about a book this color and was told to put it into ‘use’. I should like to tell you of several symbolical dreams I have had within a couple of years. Wish I could find myself in the teaching field - you told me it was my vocation, and everyone I meet seems to feel that way. If it isn’t too much trouble will you please autograph a couple of those books - ‘A Search for God.’ Thank you.”

R6. 7/8/43 Letter: “Four months ago I took a position with the … Drydocks and met a man connected with them. The emotional reaction has been terrific for both of us. I know he is out of my dim past and for my peace of mind, want some help. He is a returned soldier suffering from jungle fever and now learns his right lung is affected. My life seems to be so mixed up with his that I am turning to you for help and possible enlightenment. I do not feel in the position to spend 20.00 and so am writing to find out if I could get some sort of check reading just pertaining to my connection with him (for 10.00). It’s worth that for my peace of mind. …These war jobs aren’t all they are cracked up to be. I lost my importing business…”

R7. 7/23/43 “I have always felt a close bond with you and wonder (often) if we two haven’t been closely associated at some time. We are kindred souls.”

R8. 8/30/43 Letter from [1298] to EC:

Dear Mr. Cayce:

Many thanks for your letter of August 17th, thanks for setting the date on September 24th.

Please use these questions inclosed. Herewith,

QUESTIONS

1 - Was there ever a relationship between myself and [5766], if so, what was our relationship, where, and when did we know each other?

2 - Why do I become extremely (emotionally) upset when I unexpectedly catch a glimpse of him although I do not find him necessary to my existence when I contact him face to face for a short time, nor do I care to seek his company or continue the friendship, yet after seeing him unexpectedly I find that I remain lonely like one alone in exile (for hours,) and continue to think of him even though I do not wish to do so?

3 - Is there any cure for his physical condition, can he be restored to his full manhood, if so what is the cure. Is he really ill because of tropical fever contracted recently in Africa?

4 - Emotionally I seem to love him, intellectually I do not, Why this conflict, and how can I get completely rid of this most distasteful situation? Was he ever a cavalier, crusader or knight?

5 - Have I ever known Wilma Noble Crimmins, what was the relationship, and was she ever connected with me in relationship to Niel Flynn?

6 - Was I ever connected with William A. Hauck, if so where and when, what was the relationship? Where did he acquire his great knowledge of steel?

7 - I should very much like to know if I’ve ever had any training in leaving my physical body - or been a trained dreamer.

8 - Have I ever known Noel Seinsbury and his mother Pauline Sainbury before, if so when and where, and what was the relationship?

The first five questions are most important for my present peace of mind, so if you can throw any light on them, especially, I will be most grateful, the others are just in case, I am certain the persons in question have lived tremendously interesting lives…

R9. 9/3/43 “Sorry to be such a nuisance. I have decided to rewrite the questions, so please have patience with me. I will write the questions Sunday and mail them. I assure you that I won’t change my mind after that. No use asking questions that are of little use in one’s growth. The personal questions may sound like idle curiosity but in my case they go deeper than that.”
