This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of the Association, Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 24th day of September, 1943, in accordance with request made by the self - Miss [1298], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research and Enlightenment, Inc.

Born December 10, 1892, in Smethport, Penna. Time of Reading 4:10 to 4:20 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, N.Y.

1. GC: You will have before you the entity [1298] named at birth […] born Dec. 10, 1892 in Smethport, Penna. You will answer the questions she submits, as I ask them, concerning her past association, their effect in the present, and how she can best use them for good:

2. EC: Yes, we have the entity here, now called [1298]; this we have had before.

3. Ready for questions.

4. (Q) Why am I NOT married? A companion and home has come to mean much to me. Will I ever have them in this life? (A) This depends upon self. Ye have rejected such heretofore. This has suddenly come to be a part of thine inner self from associations which have brought about this latent urge that has suddenly grown to mean much. This depends upon self, not upon suggestions from here.

5. (Q) Is there a karmic link between myself and [5766]* when and where did it take place, what was the relationship? (A) In the activities when the entity was queen [Esther], then this entity [5766] was as one who opened the doors, who was as the guard, who was as the one caring for the queen in those experiences.

6. (Q) Did I once hurt him [5766] emotionally? (A) Not so much hurt as a disregard of the affection shown. The difference in the position after the entity was made queen caused more of the hurt.

7. (Q) Why has he had such an emotional effect upon me, stirring me to such depths? I find him almost distasteful at times after a short contact, yet a glimpse of him often leaves me deeply stirred, and extremely lonely, why? Was he ever a knight, or warrior? His carriage seems to bring haunting memories, and a sort of pride back to me, why? (A) Look at the conditions that must have existed then; being almost betrothed to the entity, then suddenly being made queen, causing the difference in the positions. Hence this is natural that the entity allows self to become emotional over the variations in the positions at present.

8. (Q) What is physically wrong with him, can he be cured and brought back to complete manhood? (A) We haven’t him physically.

9. (Q) Have I ever before known Wilma Noble Crimmins? What was the relationship, when and where did it take place, was she ever connected with me in relationship with [5766]? (A) Not as we have in this association or in the experiences of the entity that have been given.

10. (Q) What are my worse faults? Have I grown spiritually in this life? (A) These should be answered from looking into self. Who is to find fault with another? Look at thine own ideal, spiritually, mentally, materially, and compare thy real thoughts - not merely in mind, but write them down. You’ll not be pleased with some, but it is the best way to make corrections - facing thine own self as in a mirror.

11. (Q) Have I ever before know Edgar Cayce, what was the relationship? (A) These have been indicated for the entity. [See 1298-1, Egypt.]

12. (Q) Is there a karmic link between myself and Noel Sainsbury and his mother, when and where did we know each other? (A) These as we find were friendships in other experiences. They may be made to mean much or they may be let lay as they have been met.

13. (Q) Is there a karmic link between myself and William Hauck? Where did he get his great knowledge of steel? (A) When the entity was in the land of the Golden Sun, then there were close relations between the two. These have been met, they may be aroused again.

14. (Q) What has become of Lt. Commander Vanderborght, will I ever again contact him on this plane? (A) Only as we find in spirit or in mind.

Dear Edgar Cayce:

Thank you very much for a very satisfactory reading, it all fits like a puzzle. Some folk do not change much through the centuries. [5766] fits that category. He is at present suffering from the very thing which caused the destruction of those people*, jungle fever, caused by a poisonous insect. He went to war and returned with it, also he is a Safety Engineer, responsible for the safety of many lives, still has his swagger and his arrogance. Can cover his feelings, a poker face if ever there is one, that too is very likely a carry over.

So little is really known about that great civilization*, and I feel it would be a contribution to the world to learn more about those people, - I’m going to have you, in a year from now, if it can’t be done before, give a complete reading on that civilization, just as you did in the pamphlet you sent me about yourself in Egypt. Please enter me on your calendar

• after I get the history of those people I hope to put the entire thing into a novel. What do you think of the idea?

I compared notes and find my reading does coincide with your life as the prophet, evidently we knew each other very well at that time.

A woman called me the other evening and is coming to call, seems she once knew me and wants to meet me again. Miss Gladys wrote her giving her my name. It may prove interesting.

N.F. from the moment he met me called me “The Queen”, and I am certain he has been poison ivy to every woman he has met since that time in Cambodia* - it’s high time he got it out of his subconscious and blood stream.

R2. 10/4/43 [3226]‘s letter: ”…My husband [3018] and I spent a very pleasant and inspiring evening with [1298] and [1474], Sunday. They are both such different types - yet so close to

one another. They told us about how they were attracted to one another when they first met and it seems to me that it was one of the most unusual occurrences that I ever heard of on this earth…”

R3. 10/29/43 She wrote about readings for her friend Mrs. [2428] and Mrs. [2428]‘s little girl, [5043].

R4. 11/13/43 “Your prayer [at your lecture in N.Y.] that we take a spiritual message away with us was answered. I have. A number. I shall never forget these words: ‘You don’t go to heaven, you work to heaven,’ then you added ‘Our Lord was CRUCIFIED.’ Thank you, Edgar Cayce.

“There were so many there that it surprised me when you walked up to me and took my hand. I’m certain you had no idea whom you were shaking hands with. What does that matter? Subconsciously you knew a friend. I’ve kept my promise to pray for you and will, often. May I ask you to do the same, for me, occasionally. Only yesterday a most interesting woman handed me your book, THERE IS A RIVER, and requested me to read it, saying ‘I’d give my eye teeth to see that man.’ I told her I know you, that you had just been here, etc., etc.

“Once I asked you not to write letters singing my praises to others. Now I am asking you to stop disparaging yourself! As your sincere friend, God bless you, man, for your sincere guilelessness, but why should YOU belittle yourself to people who do not even know what you are talking about when you preach some facts they have never heard nor wish to. I wish we could have an honest to goodness visit. I scolded you because of my affection which dates back ten thousand years - no doubt I did then too. With deepest sincerity, [1298].

“I hope some day to spread your book A SEARCH FOR GOD all over the world. May God grant the opportunity. Remember you wrote you dreamed something to that effect.” [See 262-16.]

R5. 2/3/44 EC’s letter: “I want to thank you for the letter you wrote me right after I was in N.Y. It was one of those I laid aside intending to write a personal letter but I have been so busy, I am having to dictate this.

“Why did you think I didn’t recall you when I shook hands with you? I will never forget, no matter how many others I meet and know. I thank you a lot for the letter and the prayer. I need it very much.”

R6. 10/25/50 She requested that her name be kept on the A.R.E. lecture list in NYC.

I have tried to help others as Mr. Cayce suggested opened new vistas to others when ever possible. The reading cleared up many things for me as to the continuity of life - a pattern - showed how UNIMPORTANT one’s position & how important one’s life in what ever phase, newsboy or King, for growth gave me courage to keep my chin up without being full of self pity & why unselfishness is so vital to one’s fulfillment of the earth cycle. Each re-reading of my personal reading brings fresh inspiration. I bless Edgar Cayce & hope we meet again and again. I am now going thru a new and difficult phase have a shop for women & that’s a place to meet frustration! if ever I saw one. The name “Myrtle” was associated with queen Esther & I take it as a sign along the way, as the shop has carried that name for many years before I bought it recently. Best wishes. [1298]

R8. 10/26/62 GD’s note: Today Miss [1298] came to see us with young Mrs. [5043] whom she is visiting (and for whom she obtained a Life Reading when [5043] was six years old!). She is still a person of very unusual and distinctive mien, and a stunning dresser. Years ago she told us, when we met her in N.Y., that a professor had told her in class in her early years that she had a Cro’-Magnon’ head which was very rare - he never had thought he’d actually see one.

Miss [1298] says she is now writing a book based on her own Life Readings and a few of her closest friends who had them. [In 1965 her book was published.]

R9. 4/21/68 HLC heard that [1298] was in a hospital in Fla. dying of lung cancer.

R10. 4/24/68 HLC wrote her [Dictated 4/21/68]: “Last night Elsie Sechrist was on the same television show that you appeared on when I was a guest. I told her that I wished that you were around so that you could show up again to lend a little color and dignity to the show again.

“When people go to hospitals there is always this possibility of using it as a jumping off spot into a new dimension and a new experience. I hope that isn’t the case this time for you, but if it is, I’ll be seeing you along the highways of a new dimension. I can think of many millions of people who are far less prepared for new adventures.”

R11. 9/1/70 Miss [1298]‘s foster niece, Mrs. [5043], visited A.R.E., saying that she died in Aug. of 1969; that she was ready to go, had lived a full life, etc.
