This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 26th day of December, 1936, in accordance with request made by the husband, through Active Membership of her brother, Mr. [419], in the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

1. EC: Yes.

2. As we find, conditions - as has been indicated heretofore - are rather acute. And there is somewhat of a complication. For these have tended to create some inflammation, and this must be allayed. Unless it is, operative measures - which would be VERY serious under existent conditions - would be necessary to resort to.

3. These are a lack of drainages from the gall duct and thus involve the whole of the caecum area, or the drainages from the small to the larger intestines. There is not inflammation in the appendicial area, though the whole of the right side is involved.

4. As we would find:

5. Use Laudanum and Aconite - three parts Laudanum to one part Aconite - to paint the body over the liver and gall duct area and down the right side.

6. Then apply hot Castor Oil Packs continuously until there is some ease.

7. Every other time the Pack is changed, paint the body - unless this tends to make for too much of a blister.

8. Be well to put oil paper or cloth over the Packs, for we should have great quantities of the Oil. Do not make them TOO hot, but so as to at least drive them into the body. It is well to put these on and then apply external heat; as the electric pad or salt bags or the like. DRY heat, though, rather than wet heat.

9. We would stimulate osteopathically the areas from which the liver, spleen and pancreas receive the greater impulse; the upper dorsal area - or from 2nd and 3rd dorsal to the 5th and 6th.

10. And it will be found that in giving the manipulations the holding of pressure (with the finger) upon the left side of the 4th dorsal center AND the right side of the 3rd cervical plexus or center will bring some ease; and tend to make for an expanding of the gall duct itself, and tend to empty same.

11. These given very GENTLY but every day.

12. Change the Oil Packs about every hour, or every two hours at least, until ease is obtained.

13. If there is not ease obtained, then best that a surgeon’s service be considered.

14. Ready for questions.

EVERY OTHER CHANGE PAINT AGAIN UNLESS BLISTERING. USE OIL CLOTH OVER PACKS SO GREAT QUANTITIES OIL MAY BE ABSORBED. NOT TOO HOT BUT SO AS TO DRIVE IN. R1. 1/4/37 Husband’s letter:

Dear Edgar,

I received the wire and also your letter and had intended writing you at once but on Monday I had two auditors to come in to check the station and they were here all week and with [1312] sick I didn’t hardly have time to draw a long breath, but want you to know I fully appreciate your kindness and all you have done for me.

Aunt [760] has been with us and she has carried out the instructions exactly as you suggested and am glad to say [1312] is better, but still having trouble with her side. Dr. Beard is giving her a treatment every day.

She was sick two weeks before Christmas and doctored her self thinking each day she would get better, but was suffering so the day before Christmas that she went to Dr. Beard for a treatment and she seemed to relieve her some, but Christmas day they wanted us to come out home so rather than disappoint Aunt [760], [1312] decided she would go and she had an acute attack while we were out there. The first we thought of was you, as all thought it was her appendix and we knew she was in no condition to stand an operation.

I guess you were surprised to hear that we had moved to town but feel it was the best for us all as it is close to my work and [852]‘s school and as both of the boys were gone she did not get to go much, but she is not losing any time now.

Aunt [760] was telling me she had a letter from Gertrude saying what fine work Eckin was doing in college and I know you are very proud of him.

Aunt [1795] is about as usual, but Miss [569] hasn’t been very well.

Aunt [760] is improving and gaining in weight and can eat most anything she wants now.

Give my love to Gertrude and Hugh Lynn and also the “Newlyweds”.
