[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 3:45 to 4:00 P. M. Eastern War Time. …, Ky.
-
GC: You will give the physical condition of this body at the present time, with further suggestions for corrective measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1352].
-
There are many changes in the general physical forces of the body from that we have had before.
-
While there IS conception in the present, there must be precautions and some measures taken, else there may be a miscarriage at the next full moon; or those conditions with the body such as to be a drain on the vital forces of both the mother and child.
-
As we find, first there should be taken at least two or three douches, about five days apart; using only the Fountain Syringe. Prepare the solution with a tablespoonful of Glyco-Thymoline to a quart of tepid water, the temperature being about seventy-five, - not hotter, not colder.
-
And then have an adjustment made, osteopathically, in the 3rd cervical, the 9th dorsal, and in the 4th lumbar. One or two would be sufficient.
-
Do these, and we will find those alterations such that the irritations will subside that are causing drainage and irritation to the organs of the pelvis, - if done properly.
-
Then take sufficient exercise, - not overdoing it, but, - to keep the normal developments. The best exercise is walking.
-
Keep plenty of Calcios as a part of the diet, especially through the first four months of the period. Twice each week spread Calcios on a whole wheat cracker and eat, just that quantity as would be lightly spread on the cracker.
-
Also Atomidine would be helpful in keeping a purification of the glands. Take one drop of Atomidine in half a glass of water before the morning meal, each day for three days. The next week take it three days. Then leave it off two weeks. Then take it again three days each week for two weeks.
-
After the fifth month, have at least one series of adjustments, osteopathically administered, if the period as well as the activities of the body would be better prepared for motherhood.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) When needed, what kind of laxative should be taken? (A) Senna Tea.
-
(Q) Who would be the best physician in … for the delivery? (A) Haynes. [Phillip Haynes, M.D.]
-
(Q) Would it be alright to take daily sun baths? (A) Be very careful about taking too much sun baths until there has been quite a different change about in the body. Especially not until after the fourteenth of July. Then they may not be taken too much directly in the sun, but in the reflected rays - or part sun and part shade, or early morning sun and the like.
Be mindful of keeping the diets and the exercise.
- We are through for the present.

Reports
Reports & Follow-up
R1. 6/8/43 She wrote thanking him for the reading, asking what he thinks about her continuing to work - standing on her feet a lot, etc.
R2. 6/12/43 EC’s letter to [1352]: “Glad to have yours of the 8th glad you are feeling good believe you will have no trouble if you are just careful, of course standing on your feet so much may be hard on you; lest do you have the chance to rest every little bit working might be good for you.
“Am thinking you will have to be governed by circumstances. Not every one is sick of mornings - or during the day, if you are one of those who are - then will be rather hard on you, for you will try and go when you shouldn’t, but if the drain has stopped and you are not sick then being careful, don’t lift anything heavy - be careful how you push things round anything heavy - and the work should be good for you.
“So Dr. Haynes is in the Army - that is too bad. Well, select some one else, and the first chance we will ask the question about them. What do you think of Dr. Dade [Randolph Dade, M.D.]. Isn’t he there? He knows something of the work, and won’t think you are crazy if you should mention it to him.
“We are still very busy - and with Congress coming up, may be busier than ever with people coming in; had letter from [1089], let me know where he has been sent, hope he is pleased with his new place.
“Wish you were here, feel sure you would like it - haven’t been able to get any help as yet.
“Thanks a lot and let me hear from you and what you decide and will check up for you some of these days.
“Love to all,” Edgar Cayce
R3. 7/29/43 Sister [1306]‘s letter: “[1352] has been suffering from violent headaches occasionally and has vomiting spells that cause her to heave something terrible. She weighed 120 lbs. when she came home from Chicago and now weighs 113 - seems to eat sufficiently but isn’t gaining any.”
R4. 8/13/43 Sister [1306]‘s letter: “It’s a funny thing but since I wrote you [1352]‘s headache and vomiting spells have stopped. She seems pretty well except for an occasional pain here and there. She had all her treatments from Dr. Beard - said she thought she had told you but maybe overlooked doing so.”
R5. 9/23/43 Sister [1306]‘s letter: “[1352] hasn’t been to a doctor yet there just doesn’t seem to be anybody left. She made up her mind to go to Dr. Dade and somebody told her he was sick so much lately you couldn’t get him just any time… I try to encourage [1352] but she’s so afraid something will turn up - has pains in her left side a lot. I’m sure she’ll get along alright.”
R6. 10/15/43 “Well, I finally got around to writing again - seems I’ve developed a laziness with my condition but know I’ll really have to make up for it later. Been getting along alright except for a few pains and aches. That one expects under the circumstances. Went to Dr. Harvey Stone last month and he’s gonna deliver it at the hospital here. Took the series of treatments from Dr. Beard week before last - and don’t you think it would be all right to take maybe one treatment or maybe two, every week from now on, just to kinda keep in condition? Have less than three months now to go.”
R7. 10/28/43 EC’s letter: “I don’t think you ought to forget to go in and see Dr. Beard once in a while. She will do more good for you than all the pills someone else would give you. It will be fine to go in and see the doctor once a week or once every two weeks.”
R8. 11/30/43 EC uolunteered a Ck. Physical Reading, without the suggestion or request being made to obtain it - See 1352-8.
Background
Background
B1. 5/15/43 Letter: “I’m enclosing $20 for a Physical Rdg. for myself. Missed my menstruation period the 2nd of May, naturally believe I’m pregnant. This week - Wed. - I passed blood for a few hours and thought it best that I get a Rdg. in case anything is seriously wrong, in order to correct it before it goes too far, - otherwise feel fairly well physically. Had a few rather sharp pains and little cramps. Do YOU think it’s best to get a Rdg. now, so early, or wait a while longer? Naturally if there’s anything wrong I want it adjusted for the child’s welfare as well as mine. Can you imagine ME with a baby… I’m kinda happy about it and either boy or girl would tickle me to death, so long as it’s healthy and normal.”
- What causes the occasional menstruation?
- The itching in the vagina? What treatment to prevent it?
- When needed, what kind of laxative should be taken?
- Who would be the best physician in … for the delivery?
- Would it be alright to take daily sun baths; if so, of what length of time each day?
