This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 9th day of July, 1937, in accordance with request made by the mother - Mrs. […] - new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., sponsored by Mr. [1427]”s brother.

[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Maud M. Lewis of Greenville, Ala., and V. Nevius of Norfolk, Va.]

Time of Reading 4:00 to 4:20 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ky. (Physical Suggestion)

  1. EC: Yes, we have the body, [1405].

  2. Now, as we find, there are disturbing conditions that prevent the better physical functioning of the body.

  3. Unless these conditions are corrected we will find greater troubles with the body as there is the increase in age, and as there are the general changes that come with the activities and growth.

  4. These conditions as we find are basically of a glandular nature.

  5. Then, these are the conditions as we find with this body, [1405] we are speaking of:

  6. IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, this we find not only low in resistance owing to the improper manner of the activity of the glandular system, but owing to pressures that exist in the lumbar and lower dorsal area - that arose from those conditions which existed at the period of birth.

  7. Hence we have had various developments with the body. These with conditions of cold, conditions as peculiar to childhood, have contributed because of depleting more the resistances in the system; thus requiring greater activity in the coagulating system or in those portions that produce in the blood plasm vitality and resistance in the body.

  8. Thus we find periods continually arising when there is temperature, when there is a languidness in activity, an upsetting of the digestive system, lack of appetite, lack of the desire for activity in accord with a developing child.

  9. All of these as we find arise from these conditions that have been indicated, which are concurrent with pressures that exist in the lumbar and lower dorsal areas.

  10. THE NERVOUS SYSTEM, the effect upon same is to produce one that has both the causes and the effects in the nervous system; making for periods when the body has reactions through the sensory forces, and in the superficial circulatory forces, or vegetative or sympathetic; as bad dreams, and at times the inability to rest very well, the imaginative forces becoming more active. These are from physical reactions rather than from any condition that may be considered mental at all.

  11. The pressures in the cerebrospinal system, being upon the central nervous system - especially in those areas of portions of the 9th dorsal and 4th lumbar and through the coccyx end or the brush end of the cerebrospinal system - prevent the full accord or coordination between the sympathetic and the central nervous system.

  12. Thus the periods when the body is cold when others are hot, periods when the temperatures arise and the body becomes rather as one that is entirely washed out, languid, and the effects that have been given.

  13. These are, as seen, then, a part of the nervous system as well as those effects upon the adrenals and the glands of the digestive system, through the caecum and the ileum plexus, as well as the effect upon the activity of the thyroids.

  14. While giving thyroid and extracts that have at times helped, these have NOT - as we find - brought about any permanent or any great relief.

  15. Hence we would first have the proper corrections made in the cerebrospinal system, in the areas indicated, through mechanical means - or through Osteopathic adjustments. And these as we find had best be given in periods; about three weeks for the first period, twice a week; then a rest from same of two to three weeks; then again another period of two, three to four weeks, twice each week, with adjustments being made.

  16. When the body is given the treatments, there should be at least thirty minutes to an hour that the body rests without taxing by walking, riding, or moving after the treatments.

  17. As the treatments are begun, we would begin with also the Thyroid Extract - this very little, but in the way and manner as it has been given heretofore - at one period particularly; about one tablet every other day.

  18. On those days the Thyroid Tablets are not taken, take about half a teaspoonful of the Ventriculin WITHOUT Iron.

  19. Keep the body in the fresh air, and active as much as possible without overtiring.

  20. With these combined and adhered to, in the manner indicated, we will set conditions aright, alleviating this temperature, producing the coordination and the activity in the system with relationship to the glandular forces.

  21. After the second or third period of the Osteopathic manipulations (now this is out of the ordinary, but we would do this), leave off the manipulations, also leave off the Thyroid Extract as well as the Ventriculin.

  22. Then after ten days begin with atomic iodine (Atomidine). This is to tone the system, to add to the creating of a better metabolism and cleansing the glandular system as it reacts to iodine. The dose would be one minim in half a glass of water before the morning meal. Keep this up for four to five weeks.

  23. After that we would give further instructions as to applications, whether mechanical or of a medicinal nature.

  24. In the diet - beware of starches. Do not take potatoes and white bread at the same meal. Do not eat hog meats of ANY kind, except a little crisp breakfast bacon may be taken occasionally - or two to three times a week.

  25. Coddled egg, toast, whole wheat or rye cereal with fresh fruits should be preferably the morning meal.

  26. The noon meal should consist preferably of bread - brown bread, whole wheat bread - with BUTTERMILK; this crumbled in same. This should form the principal part of the noon meal, with tomatoes and lettuce or the like.

  27. For the evening meal, if meats are taken use fish, lamb or fowl - but not other meats with fats. No fried foods at any time! The vegetables should be those especially above the ground, but not vegetables cooked with meat in same. Let them be cooked rather in their own juices and seasoned afterward with butter, salt or pepper, paprika, or sea salt (kelp). These are preferable for this body.

  28. Follow these instructions. Then, after the period when the Atomidine has been taken - each day, you see, for three, four to five weeks - after the others have been given as indicated, then leave off; and then we would give further instructions.

  29. Ready for questions.

  30. We are through for the present.
