This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 27th day of September, 1937, in accordance with request made by the self through her mother - Mrs. […], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 4:25 to 4:35 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Ala. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1413]; this we have had before.
-
As we find, while there are still many conditions that must be changed for the better reactions and for the corrections in the system, the body is a little bit on the improve - though there are periods of the violent reaction and the attempts of the system to eliminate poisons, as the sympathetic system becomes imbued with same through the incoordination between the sympathetic and the cerebrospinal systems.
-
Hence these changes as we find we would make:
-
First in the manipulations and massage: Every third treatment, at least, we would make specific adjustments, now, in those centers where the cerebrospinal AND the sympathetic nerve systems react the more specifically together; notably in the 4th lumbar, the 9th dorsal, the 1st and 2nd dorsal, and through the 3rd and 4th and 2nd cervical MAKE DEFINITE adjustments by MOVING - at least - the segments in these areas. The other treatments or daily treatments besides this we find are well.
-
Also, in the present, we would leave off the Atomidine internally.
-
But we would apply the low electrical vibration of the Wet Cell Appliance carrying into the vibratory forces of the system Spirits of Camphor, at the regular or commercial strength. This would be used two days, then left off two days, then used two days again, then left off two days.
-
Then use the Chloride of Gold one day, carried into the system vibratorially in the same manner but a different container, the proportion being one grain to each ounce of Distilled Water. Then leave off two days.
-
Then take the Spirits of Camphor again for two days, leave off two days, take again two days, leave off two days.
-
Then the Gold again for one day, leave off two days and begin with the Camphor again.
-
Continue in this manner. The application would only be made for thirty minutes, and the attachments each time would be made as follows:
-
The small plate would be attached first, at the 9th dorsal; while the larger plate, through which the Solution passes, would be attached last, at the umbilicus and lacteal duct - or that area very close, or in conjunction with the absorbent activities of the glandular forces from the ducts of the liver and the assimilating system.
-
Do not leave the anodes or connections in the Solution when not in use.
-
Let these applications be made by that one giving the massages. And after each treatment with the Appliance, give a THOROUGH massage NEUROPATHICALLY over the WHOLE BODY, where it is possible or practical to treat. This as we find will aid in the system’s absorbing the activities to create not only a normal balance with the correction in the centers indicated, but to make for a balance in the glandular activities of the body as to prevent the salts of the system becoming overbalanced and so susceptible to the activities from without.
-
Keep up the rest of the treatments that have been indicated.
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) What, if any, will be my reaction to an allergic shot I took about a month ago? (A) This as we find, owing to the general condition, has been slow in reaction; but the manipulations, the treatments that have been given are producing in the system a better reaction than if same had not been given.
Also the vibrations of the metal as well as the healing properties of the Camphor, as stimulated by the vibratory forces of the body, will prove beneficial how to the general reactions; not only for the eczema but the circulation in general, as well as the disturbance in the upper dorsal areas where specific adjustments are to be made, as well as in the cervical to the bronchi and the larynx activity for the pulmonary reactions.
- (Q) Is there anything that I am not doing - or doing - that retards progress? (A) The condition is being approached from not a palliative angle but so as to ERADICATE the conditions from the body! Keep in the ways that have been outlined. Make the activities of the mental forces keep constructive toward ALL CREATIVE ACTIVITY; keeping in the attitude of deep meditations, especially during the periods when the Appliance is active upon the body.
There will NOT be felt any material reaction from the Appliance, or any high vibration. There may occur at times a little nausea. Hence do not use the Appliance over the thirty minute period, but relax the body thoroughly when these treatments are given - and let the body relax thoroughly while they are being given.
Hence the manipulations or the neuropathic manipulations following each treatment thoroughly over the system. Stimulate all centers, all ganglia, all the activities through the system, both to the lymph and the emunctory circulation where they come close to the surface in the superficial circulation - where the stimulation is so needed; that the vibrations created (through the use of the Appliance) may be DISTRIBUTED THROUGHOUT THE BODY ITSELF.
And doing these, we should find, now we should begin to see a little faster improvement.
But do not grow weary. Know, as has been indicated for the meditation, that the Creative Force, or God in His mercies, will give that necessary for this soul and this body, this mind, to see and know that the Lord IS Love - and is MINDFUL of the children of men pleading in a constructive manner to Him.
- We are through with this reading.

R1. 10/25/37 Mother’s letter:
ALABAMA Monday night
My dear Mr. Cayce
Your letter with the check up reading came in some time ago and no doubt you are wondering why I have not acknowledged it - […] [son] has been sick and so has Mr. […] [husband] and we have the misfortune to lose a dear friend too during this time that elapsed.
I am glad to report that [1413] is worlds better and is up and dresses and goes to the doctor now she seems to feel fine
- she has a horrible time with all of it she has been the bravest one in the lot Miss Grapes says now she thinks this is the last cycle. I hope so it has been different and she thinks too that shot she took that I wrote you about was extra slow about reacting due to [1413] having had so many things done for her it has been known to take as long as 26 weeks I wrote you all of this though.
Miss Grapes would not agree to use the appliance you wrote us about in the last letter so I just did nothing about it since the directions were for her to use it. What about it?
I am glad to report my family all up and out now and lets hope that God sees fit to let them remain so.
I do not know whether or not you recall Mr. R. I. Rawles of Selma he is a very fine man and in case you do remember him you will regret to hear he is desperately ill from a heart attack - Dr. Drayton Doherty is also seriously ill has gone to Mayo’s and can only live a short time possibly 6 months with cancer of the right lung - So much sorrow in our midst makes us feel thankful for our own illnesses not be of so serious a nature.
I hope all of your family are well and we are expecting you to let us know when you come down.
Thanking you for the reading and awaiting your advice about the appliance since Miss Grapes won’t use it herself, I am,
Sincerely yours, Mrs. […]
R2. 10/28/37 EC’s ltr. to Mrs. […]:
Dear Mrs. […]
Thanks for yours of the 25th, glad to know all are on the improve with you, sorry you have had such a time of it.
Most of all glad [1413] is better do hope she keeps on the improve. Am little at a loss to know that Miss Grapes refused to use the appliance, unless there is something in her association with interference with her using something of the kind. But think it would be of a help to [1413] or it would not have been suggested, you could use it at home to be sure, unless Miss Grapes seriously objects to your using it, then you will have to be governed by your own judgement, but am of the opinion you would find excellent results with its use, in fact have never know an instance where they were suggested, that help was not had, when used as suggested, even in Mrs. [394]‘s case for several weeks that was the only thing that kept her alive.
Yes, remember Mr. Rawles very well, sorry to hear he is so unwell, hope he comes out of it alright, Dr. Doherty, hope he comes back much improved, seems you have had many deaths in Selma of friends and acquaintance of mine.
We will be away for several weeks, leaving Saturday, but any mail or wire would reach me from here, should you came to communicate with me.
Do hope all keep on the improve, thanks for letting me hear always glad to hear from you.
Sincerely, [signed] Edgar Cayce

(4) Have the suggestions given in the Readings been followed exactly as outlined? All except the use of the Appliance.
(5) For how long? Several months, in fact am still being used.
(6) Describe the extent to which improvements have resulted? For a while a great deal of improvement took place, then condition now same as always.
(7) Comment. The Neuropath refused to try the use of Appliance - and I wrote Mr. Cayce - So I feel that in FAIRNESS to him it isn’t his FAULT that [1413] still has eczema and asthma.

R4. 5/23/38 Mother’s letter to EC:
Dear Mr. Cayce:
I have just received the enclosed blank which I have filled out to the best of my ability - I hope it will be satisfactory.
In fairness to you and your work I want to say that I do not consider you failed in [1413]‘s reading for as I wrote you Dr. Grapes refused to use the appliance. I did not order it for I knew if she felt as she did about it she would not help [1413] with it so I just had to let it stand as that was all I could do about it.
[1413] has been better at times and then flare up right now she is in the worst cycle she has had in several months - She is going to try a change of climate going out west to visit her uncle for several weeks if the climate helps her or not she will just have to come home - God alone knows what to do I don’t - I have tried every thing else but a change of climate so she wants to do that so we are going to let her try it - I started to write you before I let her go but I hated to keep on writing you when or after Dr. Grapes would not use the appliance - she tried the manipulations as you suggested and other things and still does but it is just as I said.
I do thank you for your interest I can assure you, sometimes I feel like giving up and accepting it as a life time things but when I see this bright young girl like this I try and try -
I shall give Mis Grapes her blank but don’t think she will fill it in.
Gratefully yours, […]
R5. 12/7/41 Mother wrote that [1413]‘s asthma had been better since she’d been living in Okla., but she was currently taking shots from skin specialist who had been recommended by her chiropractor.
