This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his office, 115 West 35th Street, Virginia Beach, Virginia, this 27th day of December, 1927, in accordance with request made by father [900].

[Edgar Cayce; Mrs. Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno. Mr. L. B. Cayce.]

Time of Reading 11:10 A. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City.

  1. GC: You will have before you the body and the enquiring mind of [900] and [136], and their baby [142] of … Street, N.Y. City, and their contemplated trip South, and you will tell us if it would be advisable to have diptheria serum given the baby at this time. You will answer any questions regarding same that I may ask you.

  2. EC: We have the body, the enquiring mind, and those conditions as exist concerning serum and its effect, and those conditions as surround individuals, especially of the growing or developing physical body and the conditions as come with such surrounding forces.

  3. In considering things of this nature there may be many things taken into consideration, for this is given rather as the preventive, and conditions that come about from such are very detrimental to the body (that is, the diptheria), and a great deal more so than the effect of the serum, provided conditions are such in the physical forces that the responding glandular conditions are set up in the system by the accumulation of the extra amount of creative energy as is supplied to those portions of the system, namely, in that of the mucous producing, or the form of leucocyte that comes with the induction of such serums in the system.

  4. Then, as we would find, under the existent conditions, considering the chances of contamination of the surrounding conditions of the physical condition of the body itself, these would be given at long intervals - which we find would be beneficial and well for the body.

  5. (Q) At what period of intervals - how long between each dose? (A) Five to seven days.

  6. (Q) How many doses should be given? (A) Not more than three.

  7. (Q) What quantity at each dose? (A) That should be arranged by the one giving. Not OVER the millionth portion of the numbers as are necessary to create that resistance, see?

  8. (Q) Is the physical condition of the baby such that it may be begun at this time? (A) Had these conditions not been such as it might be begun, would it have been given to begin with these at present, for the resistance to be built in the system, for the fear of this contamination or those conditions that may come about that would bring resultant forces that would be deficient to the well-being of the body?

  9. (Q) Any other counsel or advice regarding this? (A) Beware that the foods and the physical forces for the body during this period are not at an excess, or that there is not too much excitement in any nature - whether of physical or of handling, or of exposure, or of cold, or of any other forces entering in while this is being given, or during the periods especially from that of the first. While temperature may arise in a greater or lesser degree, if not over fed, or not overtaxed, this will not be harmful, see? Beneficial - for within the system this, in its pure form (and be sure the proper form is given), gives that creative energy within the system to build that which would counteract the action of bacilli that creates destructive forces to the glands that secrete for the for the whole of the gland system, especially thyroid, adrenals, thymus, and those of head and neck.

  10. We are through for the present.
