This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at the home of Mr. [900] and Mrs. [136], … New York City, this 15th day of May, 1927, in accordance with request made by the parents of [142], Mr. [900] and Mrs. [136].

Born April 4, 1927, between 4:45 to 5:00 P.M., Woman’s Hospital, N.Y.C. Time of Reading 12:20 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. New York City. (Life Reading Suggestion)

1. EC: We have the body and those relations with the universal forces as are latent in the present entity’s sojourn in the earth’s plane.

2. In entering we find the entity comes under the influence of Jupiter and Mercury with benevolent influences in Uranus and in Venus; hence we will find there will be many unusual conditions as will surround those influences as will be exhibited in the life of the entity. Yet as we find, there is also presented, through those cosmic influences and through the astrological conditions, those of the warnings as would be presented for the development of the mental, the physical and the spiritual influences as will become manifested through urges as will be exhibited in this body. Principally these have to do with those conditions regarding temper and the exercising of same as regards the will’s influence. Not, then, that the will of the entity shall be broken but that same shall be guided in those directions that will bring the more benevolent and more powerful influence in the life through the Jupiterian influence.

3. Again we find that there will appear the square of those conditions between Mars and Uranus with Jupiter in the twelfth year in which the warning is especially against the relations of the entity as regarding firearms. For, as will be seen from the appearances in the earth’s plane and those influences as were brought to bear, there will be the necessity of the correct influence towards same rather than that bringing detrimental influence or misunderstanding of the correct application of self toward those conditions.

4. As we find these greater influences are to be the ruling forces in the development of the entity:

There appears, as we see, the greater influence in Jupiter and in Mercury, with the benevolent influence in Uranus which becomes as exceptional conditions in the urges; being then very decided in the likes and dislikes, being inclined toward those conditions and positions of estate and of high mental and physical influence; inclined then toward aspiring to same through the abilities of the mental.

6. Hence the injunction as is given toward the direction of the will’s influence in the life as respecting control of temper. For in this there may be brought those detrimental conditions especially as regarding the misapplication of station or position, rather than inclined towards those not of the plebian but of those in the position of the leader. For the natural intent of the entity is toward that of the natural leader in the mental, in the social, in the political, in the financial forces of those who surround the entity.

7. Remember, then, in the astrological forces and influence, that the assurance of the elements of the training are in the first twelve years of the present experience in this earth’s plane.

8. As to the appearances and influences as urges that will be presented in this entity:

9. In the one before this the entity was in that known as Hamilton, who presented the financial conditions to this present generation and peoples, and who in honor served mankind; in self’s own personal interest lost in expression of defense of honor of that position held. [Alexander Hamilton]

10. The urge seen in the present experience will be the exceptional interest in the financial conditions of those with whom the entity may be associated and of the mental study of those conditions related to same.

11. Before this we find the entity was in that period when there were wars being made in that country now known as the Grecian. The entity then won in the defense of her taken as hostage for the followers of one who brought about the wars in that land.

12. Then in the name Ioniah, in the defense of principles, the entity gained through that experience; being and becoming beloved by her whom the entity defended, and giving self in the service to same. Hence the urge as will be seen in the present experience will be that particular love shown for the mother [[136], Helen of Troy during Trojan period, now his mother], which is the urge seen through that experience.

13. Before this we find the entity was in that period of the return to the Holy City, the entity then being among those who were in the service of the temple as repaired and became the Scribe to the High Priest.

14. Then in the name Iticai, the entity gained through the experience in that the service brought to the entity the abilities to give succor and aid to those who would learn the laws anew.

15. The urge as will be seen in the present experience will be that respecting the religious trend of the entity, and the especial interest in the law as set forth in same, especially as applying to populace.

16. Before this we find the entity was in that period when there was a division, as may be termed, in Church and State in the Egyptian rule. The entity then was the offspring of the councillor who gave to the ruler the laws set forth by the priest and adopted by the people and the ruler. [Son of present father, [900], during the Ra-Ta period?]

17. Though in that position of being oppressed in that period, the entity gained in its influence over the peoples, and in its position as the guide or scribe to the people gained in favor and in power in misapplying same in self’s interest.

18. The name then was Ioaudi, and there may be found the writings of the entity in those tombs being opened at the present time in Memphis, of that country; and these will become a portion of the study of the entity in this present experience which will carry the entity to foreign lands.

19. As to the abilities, then, in the present, we find these are to be builded, rather than as exhibited in the present time, through those influences brought to bear upon the urges and the desires as are expressed by light in the field of the study in law and in the financial forces and principles of the land and all other lands.

20. In the application of those things necessary for the development, keep the entity’s mind ever near those laws as were set forth in the re-writing of that which has been written by the entity, and which was compiled much in that which the entity taught in the newly constructed temple.

22. (Q) In the astrological phases it has been given by one from that plane “for we knew this entity before, for he comes from among us.” What plane would he come from, or planet? [See 136-59, Par. 6-A, 4/28/27.] (A) Jupiter, for in this as given, there is seen the plane of the just, and of those who present the powers in the earth’s sphere.

23. (Q) As regards the message it has been given he will have to give to the Jews. (A) This applies to these as we have shown, that the first laws set forth to the people of the earth were seen in the experience in the Temple, the reconstruction of the Jewish law to the Jewish people in their promised land. In the present it is seen that the study of the first laws, and the application of the laws as reconstructed, come to the Jews and to those who love the Lord.

24. (Q) As for the cosmic influences, what are the influences of cosmic entities upon this child, such as its maternal grandmother, [139]? (A) Through those associations in that sojourn as has been given that “he comes from among us,” it is as that influence held and sought in the earth’s plane, and may be seen in the steady expression as may be gained by the entity seeking to find that inner association with that consciousness, becoming and being made a portion of that not [knot?] between the cosmic and material. For this is as the closest relation as may be seen in the study of same.

R9. 9/29/34 EC wrote Mr. [257]: “Did I tell you about [900]‘s boy coming into my boys’ Sunday School class one day? I didn’t know him until he told me who he was. Quite a nice looking boy. I think he came with some lady who was staying at the hotel.”

R10. 2/9/36 Mr. [257] wrote: “[900] is hard hit like everyone. He moved to two rooms, his boy [142] is out of private school, and [136] is in …, La.”

R11. 1/5/52 Letter to HLC from mother’s friend [903]: ”…He [142] is about your height, a stocky build and good looking. At first we liked him, but as the evening wore on he showed a very dogmatic attitude about life in general. It has not been easy and I’m afraid there are scars…He had one and one-half years in the Navy - spent three years at Univ. of La. and decided to join his mother in N.Y. He is working with a wholesale jewelry house. [136] is anxious to see him married…”

R12. 6/2/52 letter to GD from [142]: ”…I have just recently been introduced to Mr. [257] and Mrs. [903] through my mother [136] who has resumed old friendships after so long a time.

We find ourselves possessed with insatiable curiosity and would indeed like to obtain our life readings. It seems that over the years our copies have been misplaced. Please let us know what expense this entails. We hope in the future to be able to come to the Beach and see you and Hugh Lynn…” [Sent copies of both 142-1 and 136-1.]

R13. 8/30/53 Letter to HLC from Mrs. [903]: ”…[136]‘s son, [142], is at … Hospital, …, Tenn., under psychiatric care. He has had three shock treatments because of violence, though the head man, Dr. Orr, has given her a good prognosis

• possibly a three month affair. She [136] has just returned after spending two weeks with him. The doctors advised her to leave for the present. She is giving up her nursing job at … and moving to …, La., … to be with her sister and nearer [142]. This is an accumulation of a whole life of conflicts - the thing that set it off, however, was falling in love with a red-headed Irish girl - divorcee with 8 yr. old child - and husband was a garage mechanic. Sinister, isn’t it?…”

R14. GD’s note: [142]‘s father [900] was involved with a red- headed Irish girl whose husband was a garage mechanic, at the time of his divorce and for years afterwards.

R15. 7/54 [142] spent two days at Virginia Beach talking with GD and reading his own and his father’s [900]‘s readings. HLC was out of town. He said he had decided to make application for preparing himself to be a rabbi. Part of the reason for his trip to Virginia Beach was to visit his uncle [137] and to try to get some money from his father’s estate, as his father had left everything to his brother [137]. The uncle [137] was rude to him, said his father [900] had put him [142] out of his life, that there was nothing due him [142] from the estate. This seemed to be a crushing blow to [142]; he said he should have gotten in touch with his father years ago, when there might have been a chance to get close to him.

R16. 8/54 Letter to GD from [142]: ”…Please send me a life reading that is in your opinion the best one available on my mother [136] and my father [900]. I have learned much - there is much more to be learned. With my deepest and fondest affection, I remain, Sincerely yours. P.S. Will write more in detail later…”

B8. 5/9/27 EC’s letter to [142]‘s father [900]: ”…In response to yours of the 3rd, I didn’t know, but I believe that I must have experienced something similar to your trouble and worry respecting the baby, when Hugh Lynn was born. While I did not have the antagonism so much of the mother, I certainly did encounter it from the nurse and doctor, and it looked like to me that the poor child would starve to death or scream itself to death, before we were able to even get the nurse and doctor to try the suggestions made - but we didn’t have any trouble convincing that doctor from that day on, whether it was with his own babies or someone else’s. …I’m sure that Gertrude understands the situation, for we experienced something of the same trouble with our second baby, and the doctor insisted that she continue to try and nurse it, but when it had the misfortune to contract whooping cough, with its already overtaxed system, we were not able to prevent the dissolution again of the physical and spiritual. So you may know that we realize the situation, yet it is mighty hard to find words to tell you how we appreciate… your circumstances…we are hoping the baby and [136] both get along alright…”
