This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 27th day of August, 1937, in accordance with request made by the self - Mrs. [1433], new Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc., recommended by Mrs. [1391].
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading The … Hotel, 3:45 to 4:00 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. …, Alabama. (Physical Suggestion)
-
EC: Yes, we have the body here, [1433].
-
As we find, there are disturbing conditions that prevent the normal or better functioning of the system.
-
Many of these conditions that are contributory causes have been of long standing, but the accumulations of poisons - from the lack of eliminations, and from the clogging of the system as related to the functioning of the organs, especially of the hepatic circulation - have brought on the more acute conditions in the muscular contractions, the disturbance to the locomotories and the general reaction in these directions; causing at times very acute disturbance and soreness especially in the limbs, the body-functionings, and in the activities of the body.
-
These then are conditions as we find them with this body, [1433]:
-
IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, we find the effects of the torpidity of the liver, the poor eliminations, and the effect of the improper activity through the kidneys; though all of these conditions at times cause some disturbance and at other times have caused more than is apparent in the present.
-
But the acute conditions are from the toxic poisonings in the blood supply, more of the uric acids in the system.
-
IN THE NERVOUS SYSTEM, we find the pressures from poisons that dilate the emunctory and the lymph centers produce a little swelling in the lower limbs and the knees, about the abdomen, and those areas in the brachial centers and the limbs in the upper portion of the body - all cause acute conditions from pressures and from the poisons in the system.
-
IN THE ACTIVITY OF THE ORGANS THEMSELVES, as has been indicated, the greater disturbance lies in the hepatic circulation; the liver, the kidneys becoming the more involved - as do the cloggings through the alimentary canal and especially in the colon itself.
-
THEN AS WE FIND, TO BRING ABOUT THE MUCH NEARER NORMAL CONDITIONS OF THE BODY:
-
While these measures suggested may be a little bit slower than those things that would only relieve and not remove the cause, if these are followed persistently we should rid the system of the conditions and bring about a much nearer normalcy for the body.
-
First, we would take the Sal Soda Packs. Use a pound to a gallon of water. Have the water cold; not iced, but ice having been in same until it is cold. Dip at least half a sheet, or the equivalent of same, into the solution - this folded two to three times - and put across the abdomen and around the limbs where the acute conditions are. When these become hot, take off and put on again. This we would do for at least two or three nights each week; preferably this should be done for about an hour to two hours just before retiring. Not Bicarbonate of Soda, but Sal Soda - saturated solution as indicated, to be used for the acute conditions - the cold packs of same to be used as indicated, about an hour to two hours of an evening when ready to retire, over the areas where the acute pains are; knees, hands, abdomen - all of these will be well.
-
We would prepare two quantities of Toris Compound. One we would prepare with Compound Simple Syrup, and the other we would prepare with the Spirits Frumenti - or Whiskey, but good Whiskey, see? To be sure, with each of the quantities use the ounce of Compound Syrup of Sarsaparilla. Then when these are prepared and well dissolved, put the two quantities together. We would take a tablespoonsful before the morning meal and before retiring. Take this for at least five days, leave off then for three or four days, and then begin again. Continue in this manner until the full quantity has been taken.
-
During those interims we would have at least two high enemas, to produce the thorough eliminations from the colon and the alimentary canal.
-
We would have the Neuropathic or Osteopathic adjustments and treatments; this about twice each week.
-
We would add the vibrations of the Wet Cell Appliance that would carry with same the atomic iodine - Atomidine. This we would give for thirty minutes each day. Make the attachment of the small plate first, to the 9th dorsal center; and the larger plate (that passes through the solution) last, to the umbilicus and lacteal duct center. This would be taken for the whole period of twenty-eight days, thirty minutes each day; this whether the other treatments are being taken or not.
-
When the Appliance is used, see that the attachments are firm but not tight on the body; that is, so as to be binding - but firm.
-
After the period of the twenty-eight days have the Appliance recharged with new solutions.
-
Fifteen days apart change the solution of the Atomidine. Use about two ounces of the Atomidine, full or commercial strength, and this changed every fifteen days.
-
Rest five to ten days, while recharging the Appliance, after the twenty-eight days; and then commence over again.
-
These are to assist in creating a better circulatory force as well as creating the proper vibrations for the glandular system.
-
In the diet, we would make that less of starches, more of vegetables. No fried foods of any kind. No hog meat of any kind. Do not take cereals and citrous fruits at the same meal. One meal each day, whether morning, noon or night, should consist of only raw, fresh vegetables. These may be taken with whole wheat wafers or with whole wheat toast, and with an oil dressing. Such vegetables as carrots, lettuce, celery, tomatoes, peppers - any or all of these may be combined; but one meal only of such as these.
-
Do these and as we find we will bring the better conditions for this body.
-
Ready for questions.

R1. 9/1/37 [1433]‘s letter to EC:
The … Hotel …, Alabama
Mr. Edgar Cayce Dear Sir
Your reading received and very encouraging. My Druggist can supply all the medicine except the Electric Appliance and what goes in it; then I would have to have some one that would know how to use it. Would you advise me coming up there where I could get this treatment; and what would it cost me.
Yours for success

R2. 9/1/37 [1433]‘s letter to [1391]:
The … Hotel …, Alabama
My Dear Mrs. [1391]
I got the expected letter from V.A. and he read my case perfectly. I had to write him the second time so as he would know I was working with him. He then sent me directions what to do and they are so complicated I can’t do it here as we need electric appliances and some one that knows how to use it. Would you advise me going up there to him. The treatment would take a month or six weeks. I am going to write him this morning also. I am satisfied he can heal me. Kindly write me at once. Let me know what you advise. Hope you are over your sick spell. Sorry you had to rush off like that.
Yours for good health
Mrs. [1433] by [1495]
R3. 9/4/37 Letter to EC (on back side of previous letter):
My Dear Mr. Cayce:-
This letter will explain itself. I received the letter you sent me at … altho I had returned home & it was forwarded home. I am so interested in this case, in fact in helping in any way I can to heal the sick & suffering thru you an instrument of God to help those who Trust & Obey. I am sure you will find a place for this woman that she will get the right treatment. She is not a wealthy person tho plainly able to pay board & room. Has a son in Chicago, a railroad man, who is very much interested & loves his mother. I told her to go in there. I hope I did right.
Sincerely, [1391]
R4. 9/4/37 EC’s letter to [1433]:
Dear Mrs. [1433]:
Have yours of 1st. My opinion, Mrs. [1433], is that you need some one to take care of the applications. You would have to obtain one of the appliances, no matter where you were. It might do you good to get away from the surroundings, but if you would like to stay there why not get some one who you are sure knows how to make application of the suggestions to come stay with you, more like a practical nurse. Send, get your appliance and have them give it you right there. Think you might get Mrs. [760], …, Ky. She is well acquainted with the work. Her Husband Dr. [5618] opened the hospital here for the Assn. She is acquainted with every phase of the work, and am sure would see that you had your reading carried out to the letter. Mrs. [1391] met her when she was here; suspect she remembers her.
That would be my suggestion, for were you to go some where else would have the same to contend with.
Let me hear your decision, you can write Mrs. [760] direct.
With all good wishes
Sincerely [signed] Edgar Cayce
R5. 9/8/37 EC’s letter to Mrs. [1391]:
Dear Mrs. [1391]:
Thanks for yours of 4th. Have written Mrs. [1433] that the electrical treatments, are from a machine that she has to have built, and that she could take all the treatments at home, unless she wishes to be away for a while but suggested that if she so desired she might have Mrs. [760] whom I think you met here, come there and be with her and see that she had just what was given in the reading, and would cost less than she coming some where else and then have to pay some one to give the treatments. Think you can tell her your impression of Mrs. [760] and her experience with the work.
Thanking you for the clippings, and for your interest, hope you are feeling fine again, always glad to hear from you, all send love and regards.
Sincerely Edgar Cayce
R6. 9/16/37 Copy of 1433-1 was sent to Mrs. [760].
R7. 11/18/37 Letter from [760] to EC: ”…Am writing this hurriedly while [1433]‘s battery is on. You know it was WEEKS before she got started with her treatment after getting the reading. She is improving slowly, but wondered if she should have another reading before the battery was recharged again (it has to be recharged again 23rd and rest 6 to 10 days) and then go all over again. She has taken about half of the medicine. We have followed the reading closely and she has responded wonderfully I THINK; of course, it all seems slow to her. The reading says go all over again after the recharging of battery, but I had to write this to satisfy her…”
R8. 12/9/37 Mrs. [1433] obtained first Physical Reading for her cousin-housekeeper, Mrs. [1495].
R9. 12/13/37 Letter from [760] to EC: ”…When Mrs. [1433] takes her Osteopathic treatments - she is taking from Dr. Meridith White and he is very much pleased at the way she is improving. She has been able to use her left hand twice to pick up something, which she has not done for two years, she says. She looks a great deal better and does not suffer as intensely as she did before she commenced treatment. She says she doesn’t seem to have as much strength. Sometimes she has a hard time using her feet and legs. She is taking beef tea with her other food. Mrs. [1433] asked me to write this for her and ask you to send her a check reading as soon as you get this letter if possible. She will be at home every morning - we don’t leave for Mobile till one o’clock. She has taken all of the medicine and I haven’t given any Soda packs for a week. We have had such cold weather and the three last times she had such severe pains around or through her lungs, we thought we better stop till we found out more about it. She took the packs for six weeks, so we want to know if the packs should be continued. What can be done to help the bowels? Why can’t a high enema be given successfully? Shall the Battery continue to be given as previously suggested? Any other medicine to be used? Are the Osteopathic treatments given properly? What causes the heels to burn and hurt so AT NIGHT to prevent sleeping? What can be done to help relieve the stiffening of all the left side when trying to walk [or talk?]. To get rest at night she takes capsules of Pulvules Sodium Amytal 3 grns. Are these injurious and do they interfere with the improvement of the body? If so what could be given for relief instead? Just give us all the information you can get, and as soon as we can get it, will appreciate it. Enclosed find check…”
[Later:] ”…Have just finished writing a letter for Mrs. [1433]. She seems to get along very well till something comes up to worry her about her business, and then I have a time! She was real sick while I was gone and found her sick when I got back. She wired for me, or wouldn’t have [1508] when I did. This Mr. […] that has been managing her affairs is Pres. of the Bank, PostMaster and ‘Big Man around town’. Everybody here seems kinder connected some way, some how, and Mrs. […] wants to get someone that will play fair with her. This past year she didn’t get quite half the interest in this Finance Co. that she did the year before. She is not able to attend to anything, when she begins to talk gets just as rigid as is possible and begins to suffer and I have to work with her until I can bend her arms again. She is in a dreadful shape. I told her I thought it was
20.00 at the beginning of each year and10.00 for all readings after that for that year. If I am mistaken about this am sorry. She is able to pay whatever the charges are, but you let her know. She wouldn’t even take an Osteopathic treatment while I was gone…”R10. 12/20/37 She submitted questions on business - see included in her next reading, a combination physical-business, 1433-3, on 2/5/38.
R11. 12/21/37 See 1433-2.
