This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 15th day of February, 1938, in accordance with request made by the self - Dr. [1447], Associate Member of the Ass”n for Research & Enlightenment, Inc.
[Edgar Cayce; Gertrude Cayce, Conductor; Gladys Davis, Steno.]
Time of Reading 4:00 to 4:10 P. M. Eastern Standard Time. Clearwater, Fla. (Body and enquiring mind, who seeks helpful information, advice and guidance as to his work. You will ans. the ques. he has submitted as I ask them.)
-
EC: Yes - we have the body, the enquiring mind, [Dr. [1447]]; this we have had before.
-
As we find, in relationships to the body-activities there has been the acceptance of those suggestions for the activity of the entity and body in this environ and these surroundings.
-
To insure the abilities of the body-entity to carry on, in a progressive manner and in keeping with the better abilities, we have indicated the spiritual ideals and principles that should first be held by the entity in its activities and in its dealings with its environs, its surroundings and its fellow man in every manner and nature.
-
Then, in specific activity, ingratiate self with those of every civic form that has to do with the development for the surroundings and the activities in the surrounding country.
-
In organizations that are of a civic nature, each of the associates - of course - should join those that are of different nature of activity. Not just FOR the purpose of getting something out OF the environ and association, but to what measure ye mete, to what extent ye give ye may receive.
-
Also with such associations and organizations as the Boy Scouts, the Y.M.C.A., and the like.
-
And accept the associations and activities of the social nature.
-
For through such there will come, then, not only the filling - by self - of the needs; but there will be filled the opportunities for the entity to do that which is in keeping with the highest abilities; with sufficient of the wordly material things for activities in every way and manner.
-
Do that.
-
But do it with the spirit of giving of self that those ye meet in EVERY way and manner may be BENEFITTED by the efforts on the part of self!
-
For “He that would be the greatest among you will be the servant of all.”
-
Ready for questions.
-
(Q) Would it be advisable to open a branch office at Tarpon Springs, a small town about 15 miles away? (A) This should depend upon whether or not there is indicated the desire on the part of those in the vicinity, and upon whether there is created by the activities the need for such assuming definite shape as to have special days in that town.
This should be rather as a commanding influence from those of the town, than the preparation to draw upon the town.
By ingratiating self in the activities of the environs, and in all of those influences, we find you will be called upon to do such.
But Pos, as we find, will be better than self in that particular environ.
-
(Q) Is there any other way we may increase business? (A) These are the ways, if they will be built in such a manner as to bring not only the material gain but a mental contentment and a peace that brings harmony in every way and manner.
-
We are through with this Reading.

R1. 4/25/38 Dr. [1447]‘s ltr. to EC:
Dear Edgar:
Have been intending to write you for some time and thank you for sending patients to met but have neglected doing it…
Since the tourists have left here - business has dropped off to almost nothing. And while I was riding around the country yesterday, drove through a little town about 50 miles from here - I talked to the lady who operates the hotel and she told me they had no doctor there at all and was very much interested in having one. I was wondering if you thought it would be a wise move to go over there due to the lack of business here. Would greatly appreciate you opinion.
Again thanking you for the patients - and hoping all are well at you place.
R2. 4/29/38 EC’s reply:
Am sure the summer season is a bit slower, but that is when you will have to spread out a bit - and if you are able to hold offices special days in places not too far distant should be just the right thing to do. Just so it doesn’t make it too expensive getting back and forth, and fifty miles would not be much in you car - think would be a fine thing.
Always glad to hear from you, hope you are feeling fine and that you keep busy.
With all good wishes
Sincerely, [signed] Edgar Cayce
R3. 6/10/41 GD’s note: He referred one of his patients to EC; he was then back practising in Ohio.
